It's living up to its…read morename the 74 year old chef can only prepare so many meals in the night so expect to call an advance for reservations. With 50 years of experience (he and his wife own this place), you can take advantage of the twilight of his career and the height of his experience. Flavio's is a dress-up sit-down fine dining experience. It was clean, with ample parking in its private lot next door. Lots of one-way roads so be aware of that. We arrived at 4:55. Could not go inside until 5:05. We had reservations. The place started to fill up to 50% capacity (10 tables total, maybe 20 could be fit if needed) around 6:30pm. Somehow we left around 7:45pm, even though our main course was finished at 6:30pm. This is an experience, not a quick bite to eat. There is a bar but you can't just walk in and go there. Everyone was seated in the dining room, which has two parts. My 79 -year old father was told that this was the best filet mignon in the entire United States and I agree that it is very well done perfectly medium rare at request with a crusty exterior and perfect grill marks. The seafood and gnocci pasta plate looked amazing but was enjoyed by someone else at our table, but it looked really good. Everything has an upcharge so expect to drop some cash. Get the Petite Syrah no 48 wine to compliment your dinner. You won't regret it. We had the seasoned potatos, it's OId Bay seasoning, similar to steak fries but made from a baked potato. Very nice. We had the broccoli, it was wonderful. I had the caeser salad, it was fine. Lots of cheese and anchovies are an option. We had it with our meal. Upcharge $5 ... People liked the italian dressing on their house salads but it was nothing spectacular or memorable. Upcharge $5 .. they also offer the classic "Wedge" salads as an option for $7. The standard marinara was nothing to write home about. My wife complained her Chicken Provencial was too sweet. Her side of penne alla marinara was boring. The gnocci was great though. Have the gnocci. For my side, I paid an upcharge of $7.50. The spaghetti or linguine or whatever it was was obviously a prepped reheat, whereas the gnocci were made on the spot, and the penne is the standard side so at least it was made that night. I had the puttanesca. It had too many onions, but the olives were nice. My default choices were penne or gnocci with marinara, or a potato (baked or "seasoned" as fried sticks). Dessert: We shared a piece of cheesecake with the table, and it tastes like tiramisu. I had to force the rest of it down since no one would finish it. It had a spongy tiramisu-like bottom and was flavored of lemons. I suspect it was made in house. My wife had the Spumoni. She liked it but didn't finish it. I had the Jamaican Coffee (liquor coffee drink). It was fine but overall not necessary to finish your meal and very sweet. We had the oysters (broiled). Good. I personally like them "on the half shell" but no one was willing. 6 oysters. We had the shrimp cocktail. Nice shrimp, great horse radish. 5 shrimp. We tipped well. Over 30% because how much longer this place will be in operation is anyone's guess. It's possible, if you are choosy, to spend less than $50 on your meal but we spent well over that each. Four people $313 with a lot of upcharges and top-end dishes, a bottle of Syrah, 1 beer, desserts and three apps and everyone got a salad (cost extra). Oh yeah the bread. It was fine. Reminiscent of "Mancini's" .. hard crust fluffy airy interior. Was not the most amazing bread but it fit the place.

It was plenty large enough to share with the whole table. It was wonderful and I had enough to take some home for lunch the next day. All their portions are generous. My Frutti Di Mare with spicy sauce was also a large portion of imported Linguine with 4-5 large shrimp, 2 large sea scallops, calamari rings and langoustines. Simply delicious! Our waitress was very friendly and her service was excellent. However, I always feel rushed when dining here. Maybe it's the time we choose to come, but I feel as if they want to move us through so they can go home. It's not relaxing to dine here but the food is good.

The interior has an overall modern feel and tables are well spaced out so you don't feel overcrowded. Portions are generally really large (which is great, because food is pretty pricey). I've been able to make two or three meals out of one entree here. Overall, service is pretty good but can be hit or miss. There was one day that I think they must have been having an off night because everyone seemed crazy stressed and very short with us when questions were asked. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the side salad was. It was a great balance/mix of ingredients with delicious dressing. My main entree (Strozzapretti) was tasty but a bit seemed like there was a bit too much grease/oil or something that made the dish seem heavier than it needed to be. The staff was so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, which made our celebration even more enjoyable. As always, the food did not disappoint! One of my favorite things is the hot peppers fried in oil -- an absolute MUST to add to their homemade bread. So simple, but SO good! We tried the stuffed mushrooms for the first time and absolutely loved them. The Parmesan-crusted salmon special was fantastic and packed with flavor. I usually order the Cod Romano, but decided to switch things up this time and went with the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp -- and I was definitely not disappointed. Creamy, delicious, and full of flavor! The Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti was another winner -- delicious, hearty, and a VERY generous portion. Definitely enough to take some home! And of course, you can't finish a birthday celebration without dessert! Everything was delicious, but the Italian chocolate chip dessert was absolutely to die for -- especially served warm! The sweetest part was the complimentary cheesecake for the birthday girl, complete with the staff singing Happy Birthday to my mom! The issue lies in the prices and portion sizes, which I feel don't quite match the cost. We didn't see soup still on the menu but previously they were pricey and the serving was small. However, the final straw for us was when we ordered house salads for $6.50 a piece. While it was incredibly tasty, we were shocked at how tiny it was--smaller than my hand. I still enjoy the pizza and appreciate having this option when we visit, but I believe a reevaluation of the pricing and portion sizes is necessary. The pasta suggestion from the waitress was absolutely delicious, but the chicken was definitely not panfried long enough, and there was so much butter or Whirl, on it and on the plate that I tried to use my napkin to sop it up. (i'm thinking it was a butter substitute like Whirl based on the taste) Everything was reasonably priced, but we took almost all of the food home accept the mac & cheese, we tossed that. I'm gonna try to fix the pasta with a trick when Alfredo sauce is overcooked and separated, and hopefully I can save it. I think I'm gonna set my chicken breast on a piece of bread to try to soak out the stick of butter (Whirl?) that's on it. Usually I love a great chicken Romano with a well-prepared butter-lemon-caper sauce, but there was no lemon, no caper, just A pool of butter/Whirl. If I can't fix this it's $80 in the trash. But look right and see the heart of the well run professional kitchen. The food is excellent. Classic and fresh, all the dishes keep the spirit of Italian food. I have had a lot of different things: the carbonara, ragu, crab cakes, clams, desserts and cocktails. Following Yelp reviews we made a list and then checked it twice, yup for real with a local who works at the Hilton in Uniontown. When went with low to medium expectations and had that blown away as soon as Kameron made his intro never saying no to anything we were asking about. For our dinner we started with the crab special, gorgeous chunks of finished in a balsamic reduction. For my main, I had the walleye special and the fish was cooked to perfection very lightly breaded lightly fried, extremely moist, tender, and very tasty and beautifully plated against the side of vegetables. My wife had grilled chicken penne à la vodka that she absolutely loved. We were on such a good role and enjoying ourselves with our bottle of wine as well that we decided to order coffee sides with espresso and a lemon Raspberry cake that our surprise was so amazing.
