La Mirada finally has a spot where you can drink legit craft beer without shouting over DJ airhorns…read moreor someone's birthday bottle parade. Had the O'Melveny Red Ale (San Fernando Brewing) -- a malty amber with a hint of sourdough -- smooth, slightly bready, and poured with that perfect creamy head that quietly says "yes, we actually clean our lines." Shout-out to Erica the cute bartender for the friendly service, great recommendations, and a spot-on pour. Cozy lighting, relaxed neighborhood crowd, and the kind of place you stop in for one and accidentally stay for two. La Mirada needs more places like this -- chill, welcoming, and focused on good beer and wine instead of hype. If you go, get the O'Melveny Red Ale. Trust me.

This place is located in a great little strip mall, so plenty of parking for sure!…read more When you walk in, it's feels nice and calming during your time. But if you want it lively, go in on a Wednesday for some fun Bingo Boogie (trust me, it's soo much fun! I highly recommend it!) There's a great selection of drinks, between the wine, the beers on tap, and the beers in cans and bottles, you can't really go wrong. The service was great! They were super friendly, and even let us try a couple of drinks before buying a full glass. I fell in love with Delirium Red, which is a red beer with notes of Cherry and Elderberry. Food wise we got the Charcuterie for Two, it's just like that perfect board with different crackers, breads, meats and cheeses. It goes well with anything you drink for sure! We got the Chimichurri Steak, that was such a tender cut of beef, and the chimichurri sauce just gave it that extra zing. It came with a side of fries, and I love me some good fries, for some reason these fries were just the perfect fry, crispy with a soft center. Ended with the Baked Brie, because why not. It was served in a sourdough bread bowl and came with pita bread slices on the side. It was so melty and good, and did we go ham on that sourdough bread. Since we were there on a Wednesday, we got to experience Bingo Boogie. Which is super fun. You get a bingo card with different songs from different eras. Zee, who runs the show, is so much fun. We were all singing and dancing along. So if you're bored, or want to try something new, go on a Wednesday! Get some food at around 6, party starts at 7! The Local is a great place for hanging out with your friends, maybe get a date in there, or any of their special events, like Bingo Boogie, or Trivia! You're bound to have a good time!

BIRTHDAY MONTH=BIRTHDAY COUPONS=HAPPY RODNEY…read more 1 cent for any Winery Direct wine up to $15 Not being a wino, I had to ask a staff member their recommendations for a Winery Direct dry/semi-sweet red wine $15 or under. He suggested Carmen Reserva Frida Kahlo Cabernet Sauvignon Chile 2023 & Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. The cabernet had a 91 rating from the Tasting Panel, but the malbec didn't have a rating, as it was a new item. Seeing how it's made with organic grapes, and malbecs are usually good bottles of wine, I chose the Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024. Organic Arbol De Vida Malbec Argentina 2024- Lovely bottle of wine. Each sip had berries & plum, plus the pucker from expressive tannins. I'm not a wine connoisseur, but I found this particular malbec approachable and non-offensive. However, I'd choose a bottle of bourbon or sake, any day of the week. 1 cent for a bottle of wine? That's cheaper than Boone's Farm! Total Wine wanted to get me nice & toasty on the cheap for my birthday, treating me like a cheap date. And, my response to that - you woulda had me in the sack in no time ;p One of the best of my birthday promos, I look forward to next year to see which new wine strikes my fancy.

We arrived around 6pm on a Sunday evening and we were bummed that it was packed full inside. We decided to go have a drink upstairs, and then come back down later to see if it was any less busy. There must have been one big group who left because 30 minutes later, it was completely empty inside. There are a few wood tables outside of the entrance and several two seat tables along the outside of the side of the train, but for a first visit we definitely wanted to be inside. When you come inside at BXCR, there are two long green couches along each side that wrap around to the entrance to maximize available space. There are two steamer trunks on each side that serve as tables. We were surprised that all of the tables had a Yahtzee game on them, and we had a blast playing that while we enjoyed our drinks. If you happen to roll a Yahtzee, they give you a candle as a prize. There is good background music playing that fits the environment. There is some good décor with overhead baggage racks and international clocks on one wall, and gauges on the wall next to the bar. There are some small rectangular windows along the top of both sides, and some curtained windows on the right side which do let a little light in. When the main entrance door is opened before its dark outside, it does let quite a bit of light in and kills the ambience temporarily. I would recommend coming closer to or after sunset to not let any outside sunlight interfere with your experience. The drinks are made at the bar in the rear where there are several seats and a little standing room. It wasn't on the current menu, but I saw on a previous menu they had an Amaretto Sour so I started with that, and it did not disappoint. It was nice and frothy from an egg white and had Angostura bitters on top. My girlfriend started with the Calm Cruise which was great. It's basically a Pina Colada, but with an additional honeydew flavor in the background. For number two, I tried the C-League cocktail. The smokiness of Mezcal has grown on me lately if it is not the primary flavor, and in this drink it is at a nice level somewhere in the middle. The cucumber and cilantro are definitely present, along with a little heat from the ancho verde and a little sweetness from the Luxardo maraschino. This is a excellent easy-drinking tequila cocktail. Her number two was the Aviation which she enjoyed. Vince was our main bartender along with Sarah. They were very friendly and fun to chit-chat with while they were mixing up our drinks. This is definitely a cool place to check out, and we will definitely return.
