Then they installed a solid waterproof barrier, poured a new concrete floor, repaired drywall and it is good as new. That was last month. This week, Joe Martin send his plumbing pros, Ed Ahumada, Jon & Romero to figure out a complex boondoggle which has been wasting gallons of water before hot water emerges. They are working as I write but I have complete confidence based on past experience with MasterCraft that the work will be correctly performed. Not all companies bring such dedication and integrity but MasterCraft is committed to professionalism and everyone is pleasant, qualified and a joy to work with.

Front start to finish, Mike Gast and Juan Navarro worked with me to translate my vision into the bright open studio I have been dreaming of... As the project manager, Mike Gast was extremely patient and accommodating, and provided lots of feedback to solve various issues. This was a large project that involved removing the garage door, retrofitting 3 sets of doors, framing and finishing for a custom look, inside and out. They even installed special thresholds so we could be assured of being able to roll equipment in and out of the space easily. After each stage of the job, the crew cleaned up the area and removed all debris. The price quoted us initially was in line with competitors, better than several, who failed to follow up with us. There was no cost-creep, and we finished at the price quoted us. Progress and payment was tracked on their online job project site, which was an added benefit and inspired confidence. I can highly recommend Mastercraft and hope to use them in the near future for several other home improvement projects. (A special thanks to the team, Victor and Tony for their cleanliness and work ethic).

After getting a few quotes, we decided to go with SoCal Woodworks, and I'm so glad we did. I originally hired James about 8 years ago when we first purchased our builder-grade home. He extended our kitchen cabinets, added crown molding, and completed additional wood trim and detail work. They did an amazing job, and James was wonderful to work with. Because of that experience, when we recently had a horrible leak that required us to replace our entire kitchen island, pantry, and flooring, along with a few upgrades I had been wanting to do, James was one of the first people I reached out to. His wife was incredibly nice, accommodating, and understanding of our situation. James came out the following Saturday, took measurements, and spent time discussing the repairs and upgrades I wanted done. Then--nothing. I was completely ghosted. If he was too busy to take on the project, I would have completely understood. If the project was too small or simply wasn't something he wanted to take on, that's okay too. But after being a returning customer and taking the time to have him come out, measure everything, and discuss the project, I feel like I at least deserved the courtesy of a response. I called James directly and left a voicemail with no response. His wife had also confirmed my email address before he came out, so there were multiple ways to simply let me know they weren't interested or available. It's really unfortunate because I reached back out specifically because of the great experience we had with James 8 years ago. I would have happily continued recommending So Cal Woodwork to family and friends. Unfortunately, after being treated this way as a returning customer, I can no longer recommend them. Such a disappointing ending to what had previously been a very positive experience.

I was on the road when I called, so receiving an email address verbally over Bluetooth and trying to write it down while driving would have been difficult. I asked if she could simply text me the information instead. Rather than accommodating the request, the dispatcher responded that it was "easy" and began giving me the email address verbally. I asked if she could text the information, or I would have been happy to provide my email address so she could send me the information directly. That would have allowed me to follow up later with the cabinet dimensions and photos. Unfortunately, there was very little willingness to work with me on what seemed like a simple request. After 21 years in the plumbing service industry, I understand the importance of good communication and customer service. Unfortunately, this initial interaction left me with enough concern that I decided to take my business elsewhere.
