Hired them to move my entire house into storage. Everything was fantastic, so i hired them again 6 weeks later to move out of storage into the new house. Suggestion: call them (as opposed to emailing). It is much easier on everyone involved. I found their communication outstanding on the phone, as well as in person on moving days. For both moves - they showed up on time, and everyone was presentable and respectful. Everyone worked diligently, yet with safety for the property. They took great care to use blankets and straps and protect the structures and furniture/boxes alike. From moving out, packing everything into storage, then out of storage and into the new house, NONE of our property was damaged or lost. All of the employees were really great. Super friendly and helpful. The day of the first move, it was in the mid-90's. No air conditioning in the house, and a significant amount of boxes in the attic (where the temperature was closer to 120 degrees). They worked right through it without complaint. I didn't 'shop around' to compare costs - I tried to, but before anyone else could get me a quote, these guys gave me a quote right at what I was expecting, and given me a list of availability, and had everything scheduled. Packing is stressful enough. Reward your hard work packing by letting these guys move it. read more

Decided to use them because of all the good reviews here on yelp. While there was no major damage to items, once settled in, I discovered multiple nicks on my expensive bedroom set. Additionally, a huge gash was made on the underside of a couch. Lastly, I had paid to have a $200 comforter and sheet cleaned, so that I would have clean bedding upon arrival. Mind you, I was moving out of state and definitely after 14 hours of driving. Just wanted to make my bed and go to sleep. to my surprise, the guys loading the truck, took it upon themselves to remove the brand new, clean comforter, and sheet and use it to wrap items with. The sheet was totally destroyed with multiple rips throughout it. The comforter had a huge black stain which necessitated me going to the dry cleaners. This moving company was only hired to take items out of my apartment and onto a truck that we rented ourselves. Would not recommend. read more

They scuffed and tore up three couches/recliners in multiple places. I even had the furniture wrapped in plastic and they removed the plastic and tried to shove it out the garage door which was tighter than the front door, even when we mentioned it. When I tried to remedy the solution online, they requested photos before the move, after the move, and while on the U-Haul. I provided pictures (except for on the U-Haul since I never would have dreamed to take pictures on the truck), and they still denied responsibility. I would never use this company again. read more

I'd give these guys 10 stars if I could. Hiring movers is like pushing Jello up a wall. But on the recommendation of a couple of friends/family, I decided to give these guys a shot. Could not be happier. First off -- they are professional movers. Each guys that showed up was clean, used deodorant and was courteous. It's clear they don't grab random dudes off the street to help them fulfill their moves. Second -- they are efficient and meticulous. Moving from a small home to a new build and these guys came out with 6 guys and 2 trucks. With a new build, we were like new parents wanting to be extra cautious about every little wall, banister, door frame, etc. NOT A DING OR SCRATCH in sight when they were done! These guys actually CARED about not damaging the property and protecting the valuables. And they did it all in 3 hours! Finally -- they were actually the least expensive and did not nickel and dime you to death. My bill actually went DOWN from the estimate! Wait, what?! You heard me...DOWN! We used M&J movers to move from a second story garden apartment in Snyder / Amherst to a lower about fifteen minutes away in North Buffalo. My phone calls were always returned promptly. I was given a flat rate quote for the furniture listed. This was not billed hourly, which made me feel better. I have these fears with hourly movers that they will walk slowly on purpose. When I needed up update the list and add items to move, the quote was adjusted accordingly. In addition to the pre-agreed upon list of furniture, they charged $1 per box (that one man could carry) to move. I found this so helpful as one cannot easily predict how many boxes and of what sizes you will use to move in an initial quote. On moving day, the movers arrived at 9AM. All of our furniture was completely wrapped in moving blankets. The gentlemen were kind, polite, and careful. They took the time to read the markings on the boxes and deliver them to the appropriate rooms as well as set up our beds and arrange the large furniture for me. They took care to put down moving blankets to take care of our floors, noted fragile boxes, and everything arrived perfectly. They left at 11:30, with everything moved and set up. Having moved ourselves before, even if one finishes early, we are usually too tired to unpack and set up beds by the time we unload. This was 100% worth it as we were on a strict time-schedule and needed a quick turn-around to return to work and life. We were completely settled much more quickly due to the efficiency and work of M&J Movers. We moved two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, and dining room. This included lamps, storage baskets and trunks, rocking chairs, desks, upright dressers, bookshelves, etc. The flat fee for these was $400 and was the most competitive quote, even with the estimations from per-hour movers, that we received. I have recommended to several of our friends and wholeheartedly recommend them to Yelp users. read more

They were nice at first, but after about ten minutes they became very rude because they were having troubles getting my bed apart. They also broke a flower pot and put my bed back together wrong. They did not put all of the bolts back in and it shook when I got on it. It took another hour of me working on the bed to fix it. read more

We used M&J to move our whole house and start to finish they were amazing. We gave them a list of all the big stuff and they gave us a flat rate for that and then $1 for each box. They returned all calls right away. Come moving day they were right on time and did a walk through with us to make sure the previous list was accurate and see everything that had to go. Called M & J Movers on a whim thinking it would be too expensive and/or they would not be available at last minute notice. I had already spoken to three other movers who were too busy, too expensive or both. Quite the contrary with M & J moving. Spoke with Jim and he was the nicest person to work with and said he could help no problem. He fit me into a busy day and the price couldn't be better. It saved me from moving a 224lb couch upstairs to a second floor apartment by myself. I called back to give Mike (his partner) the address of where to pick up the couch and the crew made it back to my apartment before I did. The crew was professional, fast, was careful not to bang into the walls and knew exactly where to take apart the couch to fit it up the narrow stairway. Very nice guys all three of them and I couldn't have asked for a better quote, crew, and overall experience. I will go back to M & J every time I need something moved. Less than enthusiastic. Moved into a home with steep stairs my son has a thick full size mattress, looked st my stairs attempt to fold the mattress but couldn't. Set it down on my couch & said,"Sorry we can't take that upstairs! Over the toilet cabinet, set that down and said," Sorry you'll have to take that apart to put it over the toilet." Adjustable bed frame needed to be dissembled to go up the stairs, they don't do that either! Set in in front of my back door. Broke one of the doors on a cabinet & scratches all over my kitchen table. Missing a metal bed frame that they say they didn't move! It was one of the first things loaded on the truck. I had to rearrange my bedroom furniture as they just set it in the room. My two sons where able to take the mattress up the stairs and put the over the toilet cabinet in place without taking it apart! Two items where not on the list so they refused to move them! Was not a good experience. When you pay for professional movers you expect they will move your belongings & put them where you want them so you don't have to move them yourself. read more

On March 30th we used M&J Movers to move us from a house to a 1 BDRM apt. Three men showed up within the time frame Mike had told us. They were friendly, energetic and eager to start. Once they started it wasn't long before they finished loading up the truck. Nothing was dropped or broken in the process. Both parties arrived at apt building around the same time. The gentlemen in charge was polite and professional towards our building manager. Truck was unloaded in a timely manner and there were no surprises in the cost! Everything went as well as hoped ! Wow - it was great to read comments about the good work of the folks at M & J Movers. Today, I recommended them to a friend, and then decided to check out any web information on them. I first used M & J Movers in 1992 when I moved from an apartment to my first house. The whole process was nerve-racking for a first-time homeowner. The fellows were wonderful & I was surprised and pleased that the whole process took about 90 minutes (both locations in North Buffalo). When I moved again in 2010, I wondered if they were still in business - and they were/are! I was pleased to have them provide the same care and attention they had provided to me 18 years earlier. They quoted a flat rate + $1/box and for a whole household, I thought the final cost was quite reasonable. The second move took a bit longer - about 3 hours - but the move was from North Buffalo to North Tonawanda. The guys were great & very respectful. I could not have wished for a better experience. If I ever need to move again, I hope they are still in business! read more
