Some technically accurate but misleading or insufficiently informative labels. Frozen bulk items may require you to defrost all of them to get just the few you need for this week. Occasional sloppy butchering technique (cockeyed cutting). No assurance of quality. Many advertised specials not available. With so many deficiencies, I'm amazed they can get the permits to stay in business. ...and I still give them 4 stars! Am I nuts? No one mentioned you are not allowed in the store, how can you pick what you want if you can't go inside and look, he blocked the door like we were going to rob the place....I don't know if he did that because it's common practice or because we were people of color. We weren't rude or loud or hoodish at all but it sure felt uncomfortable especially with my young daughters there, we ended up leaving and not getting anything and we won't be back.

I picked up some bbq to go. I also got some pumpkin bread. I watched one of the staff roll and twirl pretzels by hand! Actually making pretzels! It was very exciting and rather beautiful to see!! Although the salesperson was extremely friendly, his knowledge about what he was selling was lacking. Either that, or he acted ignorant simply to justify what he was selling. Luckily, I was adamant about not getting their freezer, so I had no reason to continue this service after the initial purchase. I had specific items requested when we placed the first (and only) order. The primary purchase (simple chicken breasts) were the largest part of the order and it was completely missing from the order. It took multiple emails and a phone call before I finally received them nearly 6 weeks later. The 'thick cut' pork chops were thinner than the standard ones I would get at the store. When I called about it, they assured me I received the right item. I created a spreadsheet with each item against a comparable, high-end, organic item at the 'nicer' grocery stores in the area and found this service to be at least 4x the cost. Everything being individually wrapped sounds good in theory until you open them and realize that you couldn't tell the average (at best) quality until opened. Also, around 10% of them leaked when thawing out which meant the seal was garbage on these. Needless to say, they reached out a couple weeks ago asking when I would like to get my next delivery. I told them to lose my contact information and haven't heard from them since. The issues above were only about half the problems I had with the initial order and overall process. I got conned by the show floor booth worker and learned my lesson. I hope you learn from my mistake.

This area of the market is huge and I do mean filled to capacity with made from scratch whole of half cakes, cream, custard or fruit pies, breads, rolls, sticky buns, tarts, cobblers, whoopie pies, muffins, apple dumplings, cupcakes, cookies and of course shoofly pie. I know some of you who pay an arm and a leg for a cupcake, but here they are very reasonably priced and just as good and as fancy as the ones you pay top dollar for. I bought a half of a black forest cake, a half pumpkin cheesecake with a sour cream topping, both were so delicious, a few loaves of bread, two packages of freshly baked sandwich rolls, a few whoopie pies and a pumpkin roll, love pumpkin and this roll was filled to the brim with lots of cream cheese filling. I hate to bake, they love to bake and they do it so well. We have very few good bakeries nearby so it is a real pleasure knowing that I have the Dutch Country Bakery close enough for me to stock up the fridge, freezer, pantry and yes it will eventually be stored on our bodies. Oh well what a sweet way to do it.
