I had turned around to consult with my son about New Years dinner. I told her I was just about to close it, and she said yeah right, do you do that at home. I admit she hit a nerve I've worked in customer service for 35 years, and I never thought it was alright to make inappropriate comments to customers. I wanted to hit her, but I didn't. I worked on Christmas in a store that is essential, and is open 24/7- 365, (I work every holiday, full shifts, unless it falls on Saturday or Sunday) we were slammed on Christmas and understaffed, and then I had to go home and cook Christmas dinner. But telling me she had to work on Christmas because of a refrigeration issue because of people like me was not the way to go. I shop at Giant because I don't like the cocky attitude And lack of customer service at WALMART. Seriously, I am in there once a week. Typically, on Saturday so I seriously doubt that I had anything to do with the issue that caused her to have to work on Christmas. She is on the clock being paid to be nice, it is part of the job. I would have never gotten so upset, had she kept her comments to herself, or at least muttered them under her breath to herself.

Now skip to present day...Still the friendliest grocery. During the covid-19 social distancing, employees are taking all precautions. Owners John and Debbie are actively engaged with customers and staff, making regular announcements, spending time on the store floor, etc. Plastic screens are at all registers. The store is clean and orderly. Easy access along Route 93, plenty of parking, a nearby pharmacy, and a few restaurants with carryout make this an ideal grocery stop. The produce, deli, bakery and meat departments are very good. There is a lot of variety in all areas of the store! The real draw is that the staff become like family if you shop often enough. It is the friendliness of the staff and owners that make it so nice to shop there. It is hard to find nicer young people that are working and going to school who have time and respect for their customers. I read one review that was so far off the mark! Wrong about everything. I for one don't want or need the big flash or pomp that many NEW grocery stores hype! I like the friendliness, kindness, and good work ethics I find in Gould's!
