Typically, I would give this store a 5 star review. However, today an employee walked past me, made a rude comment about the refrigerator door that hadn't closed. I had turned around to consult with my son about New Years dinner. I told her I was just about to close it, and she said yeah right, do you do that at home. I admit she hit a nerve I've worked in customer service for 35 years, and I never thought it was alright to make inappropriate comments to customers. I wanted to hit her, but I didn't. I worked on Christmas in a store that is essential, and is open 24/7- 365, (I work every holiday, full shifts, unless it falls on Saturday or Sunday) we were slammed on Christmas and understaffed, and then I had to go home and cook Christmas dinner. But telling me she had to work on Christmas because of a refrigeration issue because of people like me was not the way to go. I shop at Giant because I don't like the cocky attitude And lack of customer service at WALMART. Seriously, I am in there once a week. Typically, on Saturday so I seriously doubt that I had anything to do with the issue that caused her to have to work on Christmas. She is on the clock being paid to be nice, it is part of the job. I would have never gotten so upset, had she kept her comments to herself, or at least muttered them under her breath to herself. read more

Had a great experience at this Giant location, which was a bit surprising given the poor reviews. My mother and I needed a few small items and found everything we needed. The store was clean and well-stocked. With over half of the residents of Hazleton being Hispanic, Giant is smart to have many diverse goods sold here, from Eastern European to Asian Pacific Islander to Italian and Dominican, and more. I love the coming together of ethnicities in the city and businesses embracing the beautiful cultures comprising Hazleton. Our cashier, Joel, was friendly, helpful, and professional. We were most impressed with the produce department, which was maintained well with fresh items and plentiful choices. The bulk bags of collard greens looked good and were fairly priced. Both regular and organic bananas ranged from green to yellow, giving shopers a pick of desired ripeness. Different price points for items existed in most departments. The liquor store within the store had its own cashier, and there were many options. It was really helpful seeing some of the wine and other liquors tagged with a note stating the item would soon be gone. One of our purchases was in the snack foods department, where we selected a bag of store brand kettle cooked potato chips. They were only $2.09, a good deal in today's inflationary climate. It is worthwhile to have a Giant Rewards card because small savings add up to more significant savings. You lost one star for the parking lot. It's dirty with trash, and people drive across parking spaces at high, erratic speeds. Recommend you request law enforcement support outside your business. There are frequent walkers, too, and they should not risk their lives to irresponsible drivers. If you are open at this location beyond 6-11 am for 7 days a week, please update the hours on Yelp. Also, someone in senior management needs to claim this business. Otherwise, it gives the impression that management doesn't care what customers think about the store. Terrible experience with grocery pickup!!! I did it once before and it was great. The second time, a nightmare. I decided to use the service as I had a worked a 12 hour shift and was in a hurry to get home. What a mistake! I ended up being there for 45 minutes. I sat in my car and waited for over 20 minutes and nothing. Then I called the phone number on the sign in the parking space, no answer. I had to go inside to customer service, wait in line and was told an employee was bringing stuff out now. Yeah to someone else who just got there! I had to wait another 15 minutes until they came back with my stuff. What a nightmare and not an I'm sorry or anything. I will never do grocery pickup there again! read more

Store could use a good cleaning.Shopoing carts are in bad shape,especially the electric carts for the handicapped.They need to be replaced.

Purchased and consumed 2 bottles of water before discovering a disgusting mass of grossness floating in the bottles I purchased on my next trip. When I got home I saw what looked like a phlegm globber floating in the bottle with a bunch of foreign materials. So I pulled out the bottles I drank and saw they had the same expiration dates...from 2022 and 2023(this one was a recalled product too). The store was supposed to find out more and email be back. They are now ghosting me as I am dealing with ringing inmy ears for several months since drinking it. I'm immuno-compromised with Late Stage Lyme Disease and mold and other toxins can have lasting effects with my system. I just want a call back and for them to follow thru with what they told me they were going to do. Being ghosted while dealing with non-stop, MADDENING tinnitus is taking its toll on my family. All because a product was put on clearance that should have been pulled off of the shelves YEARS ago. read more

Spent about 20 minutes in line. Only 3 checkout lines open, even self checkout lines sprawled into isles. Managers in office relaxing while the outside of store, walkway and parking lot filthy. No one except pharmacy seems to be interested in going the extra mile. Female employee attempted to assist in bagging but informed me she was not trained in using other people's bags. Finally a manager did assist on the last bag. If the wait and dirty surrounding doesn't get to you, the background music will. At 52, made me wish for Muzak. And that takes a lot! read more

UNBELIEVABLE: I live in Hazleton, PA now and use the Hazleton Giant. Ordered using their delivery service which took me over an hour through my account and then it refused to recognize me and rejected the order. I then ordered using my girlfriend's name and that took a bit of time. Then when I went to modify the order their system took 30 minutes to recognize my order. The delivery was for noon and it is now 2PM. When I called Giant they stated that nobody had showed to pick the order up yet which means my food was not staying refridgerated. I attempted to cancel the order with the person on the phone and they said that I had to do this online so I attempted this; however, once it's past the delivery time the system will not cancel the order so I had to call the 800 number and request a cancellation and before I could speak the CSR told me that my delivery would be delivered between 4 - 5 PM; really?! I advised her of the issue and stated I wanted to cancel, so I was then pllaced on hold for 5 minutes opr more with no apologies. QUESTION: With no guarantees for deliveries and an extremely difficult process to order and then cancel would you really want to use their delivery service????????? read more

Very clean. Good double coupons. Safety is the issue. Lots of instore activity and shenanigans make me want to shop elsewhere.
