I'm writing this review to share my terrible experience with a Lyft driver who left me stranded in an unsafe location. I regularly use Lyft as my primary mode of transportation since I don't drive. I occasionally pay for rides on my own, but most of them are contracted through my Medicaid. I'm a 4.9-star rider who takes this service seriously--I tip when I can, and I give drivers a 5.00-star rating at the end of every ride because I appreciate the service they provide. During this particular ride, I had a grocery bag with me. Almost immediately, the driver began complaining that my grocery bag would "rub off" on her car seats. Despite my confusion about what she meant, she refused to continue the ride and demanded that I get out of the car. I was so shocked by her behavior that I called my mother on the phone, who was able to hear the entire conversation as it unfolded. The driver told me she would report me for this supposed violation, then left me stranded on a dirt road near the KinderCare in Bethel Park and drove away. Afterward, she made herself invisible on the Lyft app, though I don't know if she actually followed through with reporting me or not. I immediately reported her through the Lyft app, but the damage was already done. My mother had to leave her workplace in the middle of her workday to come pick me up from the side of a dirt road. As someone who relies on Lyft for transportation to get groceries, attend appointments, go to work, and handle daily activities, being abandoned like this over a grocery bag is completely unacceptable and, frankly, discriminatory. I'm extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled and deeply concerned about the lack of accountability for drivers who can refuse service for arbitrary reasons and leave passengers stranded in unsafe locations. This experience has shaken my confidence in a service I depend on for my basic mobility needs. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. The driver was on time and very friendly and responsible. It is the company charges that I have a problem with. I was quoted one amount and I charged much more. I took a snapshot of what the quoted price was, but they will not honor that price that they gave me when I booked. I would never use this company again. The customer service is horrible. Worst service EVER!!!! Got up early and contacted Lyft for ride to Airport with ample space for luggage. Cost was $47.00, but would arrive well before we needed. So scheduled for 6:45AM and the cost went UP to $60.99. $14.00 more. I worked for this company for a total of a week, and I got into a wreak. was not told I needed to contact my insurance to get a special endorsement. so I tried to put the claim through my insurance, but when I found out I was driving for Lyft. I was told that I could not put it through and call Lyft so I did. There insurance progressive made me feel so uncomfortable, and so scared that I was having a panic attack talking to the woman, she treated me like I was on trial. Every time I talk to them I'm at fault but yet they need other things and my car is not able to be repaired by them. So now I have a 2023 Kia forte with a done dent in bumper and can't do shit about it. The so-called witness my passenger lied, not only on a police report, but my insurance saying That I wasn't at fault. But quickly changed her story when she talked to progressive, which is very interesting. I will never drive nor take a lift. They pass horribly. They treat us like crap. We put our cars on the line and they don't have anybody to fight for us when we really need it.. the Karen that hit my car that was her name. March 26, 2024 i requested a lyft service from my residence on the northside of Pittsburgh to my grandchildren's home in Monroeville, a trip i have taken for years. The address is already in the system and all i had to do was select it. it registered Monroeville. aTfer riding for a considerable time and noticing that the drivers mapping system said we were on William Penn HIGHWAY, THE ROAD WE TRAVELED ON WAS NOT WM Penn HIGHWAY. I inquired of the driver why we were on this particular road when we should be on wm Penn Highway, she informed me that is what was entered. I politely showed her on my phone that, that was not what was entered. She took me to the same numerical address and named street, but it was in Gibsonia Pa. I informed her I wasn't paying that fee which was different from what was quoted in the app, for the Monroeville trip, second it was an additional $30:00+ a toll fee, Pa. surcharge, serivce fee and it put me an hour outside of my original destination time. at a cost of $62.00 dollars for an $21.00 trip. The driver proceeded to inform me that Lyft is known for providing wrong destinaiton information to the driver. I was at Pittsburgh International Airport on Friday at 1:00. At 12:45 I opened the Lyft app and scheduled a car for a 20 mile ride. I received a text response that I would get a notification of my driver in 7 minutes....I waited and waited at the purple curb and did not get a response. Yet 5 to 6 others were picked up. I asked one man and he had said he had texted for a ride only 5 min before and I had been waiting 30 minutes. I texted again for a ride, got the same 7 min response and NEVER got any return response from Lyft. I live... per Google, 2.5 miles away from UPMC Mckeesport to my House in West Mifflin near the High and Middle Schools. Lyft driver Lauren picked me up from hospital and was nice. She had a Honda Cross tour AWD, White. No mask as I wore three masks coming from the Hospital and she said I lived 1.5 miles more away than I do, I guess to get more money. Now 1.5 would not be bad if it was 12 miles away but 2.5 miles away for $34.99 plus a $7 tip for 15 minutes, seems high to me even though she was only 3 minutes away from Hospital from pickup. So instead of 2.5 miles away she added to 4 miles away, that is kind of unethical and moral wise. read more

So yesterday I get a Lyft ride right, he arrives and I notice that his car is a little banged up. I try getting in and a small (fixable) part comes off. He gets mad and fixes it. No harm done right. But now I'm mad because he gave me attitude for a little mistake that he fixed. I get out at my stop and let him know that his conduct was poor then give him a bad rating and no tip because I'm not tipping a driver for attitude and poor conduct. 20 minutes later my bank informs me of a $150 Lyft charge for damages. Today was my first day using Lyft. I had recent surgeries, and it is hard to stand or sit, but people said Lyft would not take long to come and take me home after dropping my car off for service. I stood and stood with no driver coming. A bus went by, but I didn't want to hurt the driver I thought would come. Then after that, the wait times just kept going up and up. I called Lyft, and it said to use "help" and hung up. None of the help options applied. Online someone said you have to say there's a safety issue to get a person, so I put "discrimination." I got a call, but the guy said that this was a safety line and to use the "help" tab for customer service, but that wasn't a choice. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. When: Sunday, June 19th, 2016 Party of 3 This was my first time in Pittsburgh and using the Lyft service. We were pleasantly surprised how accurate and easy to use the Lyft App was. We could track the vehicle as it arrived at our hotel, Homewood Suites Robinson Mall on GSK Drive. We were headed to Station Square in Downtown Pittsburgh for a Brewery Tour. Our driver was Aryn, who was friendly and personable. Her vehicle was a clean Honda Civic. For the 14+ mile trip, our fare came to $22.20, before tip & Lyft credit. Our driver on the return trip back to the hotel was Avery, who drove a nice Ford Fusion. He was quiet, but drove in a very safe manner. Our return fare, came out to $20.20, before tip & Lyft credit. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience using the Lyft service for the very first time. We will definitely recommend it to others when in Pittsburgh and we will definitely use this service when visiting other cities. read more

I made an appointment to be picked up at Pittsburgh International airport. I told them exactly where I was (all uber,lyft,zride and taxi area). The driver called my phone and said he was at Door 7 and I was at Door 4 but he couldn't figure how to get to me. He ask me if "I could walk down to Door 7?" I said no I'm in a wheelchair and have RA so it is hard for me to walk. He said OK I'll try to get to you. After 12 or 15 minutes I got a message from him (Raymond) he CANCELLED MY RIDE!! This was my first Lyft and I had a coupon for some discount but I reordered a new ride and I had to wait 15 - 20 minutes longer. The second driver was very nice but at the end of the trip they would not honor my coupon because it was only FIRST TIME RIDERS. Have to say that I never used Lyft or Uber until this past weekend in Pittsburgh and I was seriously wowed. Lyft's service was polite and friendly. Cars were more than prompt and the drivers couldn't have been nicer. The second time I was in a building complex and couldn't locate the car. Used to app to reach the driver and 2 minutes later, there he was. App was easy, intuitive and very effective, as well. Surprisingly, price was substantially lower than I expected even during a surge period prior to Carnegie Mellon's graduation. Honestly, I would have gladly paid a lot more. I definitely enjoyed using Lyft. We parked our car in Bloomfield and walked down the hill to attend Art All Night in Lville. At 1am or so we left and didn't feel like walking back so we requested a ride with the Lyft app. The driver arrived in maybe 3 minutes. He was friendly and chatted with us a bit. One thing to note: At this time of night apparently there weren't many drivers, as we were alerted by the app that an automatic 50% gratuity was being added to our fare to encourage more drivers to drive. Even with that, our ride was only $10 which was fine with me for such prompt service. I do worry a bit for the drivers when it comes to reported issues with auto insurance and whatnot...I can only hope that Lyft treats its drivers well and covers issues like that appropriately. read more

I had a great experience with Lyft. My dog was sick and needed to go to the vet today. My ride couldn't come at such short notice so I downloaded the app and requested a Lyft. My driver, Shelley was here in 3-5 minutes. I went outside to see if she accepted dogs (I didn't know any other way to ask via app) Luckily she did and we were on our way to the vet! My dog is extremely happy and friendly. Shelley didn't mind the kisses from my pup. A few minutes later we were at our destination. My first ride was free and I asked Shelley what all I had to do. She said Lyft suggests we rate the driver and they also rate the passenger. Shelley, my pup and I all had 5 star days. I asked about tipping from the app and she said the app let's you tip on there. I received a text saying I get $15 in credits so that's great news! Great service and I'm thankful they accepted my dog!! :) I do want to note that it's not accessible everywhere. I've tried Lyft a few times from Bobbys phone and the app said Lyft only offers rides in city limits. One request was at South Hills Village mall and the other request was for a ride from McKnight road Target which isn't too far. I was confused about McKnight road not being considered city limits. However, my ride today worked out well and that's what this review is about. read more

I live in the S.Hills (Carnegie so not too deep into the S.Hills) and found on several instances it very challenging to get an Uber. In comes Lyft! I've used this service a few times in the last month and have enjoyed the drivers...so nice and professional. It's been very easy getting a Lyft where I live and since using the service, I received a 5 star rating so they began by giving me 25% all my rides. I have used Lyft and Uber for the exact same trip many times, and Lyft is always more expensive than Uber. For some reason, Lyft drivers like to take me on a route that is twice as long. Nonetheless, I like the personality of the drivers better, and I feel slightly safer with them. They have also never picked me up late or driven me to my destination late. Their cars are always clean. I like that I can charge a tip to my credit card on the app rather than have to use cash. I will continue to use them each week. read more

Cowboy Chris & Hello Kitty Car is a TRIP and a HALF! He's taken me around downtown and to PIT several times. He's the only Lyfter (is that the word?) I've used... or imagine I will use. He's ready to talk or just leave me alone if I need to. Works with schedule as best he can. Is honest about when he can't. "Yellow" is obviously pointless. I didn't use "Zipcar" enough to make it worthwhile. "Classy" is great for classy occasions (and when the $ is flowing). Lyft's Cowboy Chris is definitely the go-to way to go. read more

ONE star because YELP made me!!! I would give you guys a Double -0 rating. So Ive been a LYFT EXPRESS DRIVER since OCTOBER 2018... The program seemed great at first, one they offer you a rental car with HERTZ you can use for making money and as personal. You do not have to worry about maintenance because the Pep Boys takes care of all of it!! Sounds Great Right! Not!!!! The rental is $289.66 every single Monday!!! That's not even real Hertz weekly rental prices.... Then they give you these Peak time rental reward ride requirements thats absolutely impossible to meet. You have to have a 20 ride requirement every week to continue driving the car. My problem is there are nooooo rides here in PITTSBURGH, PA!!! I was online for 4 hours and i didnt get not one ride. I dumped $50 worth of gas in my car which btw only takes $25 to fill the tank.. Not one ride.. I called lyft and explain there is no demand.. A Manager said and i Quote " There are more drivers on the road then there are Riders" How is that even possible!! Im a full time.driver i can barely meet the $289.66 every week because there is no rides!!! I cash out at the end of the week $50-$70 in my pocket because LYFT platform makes sure you can earn the cost of that rental.. But once friday- sunday hit its like they disable your account or something because no rides will come.. Your guaranteed a ride from the airport if you wanna wait 2 hours the portable bathrooms are disgusting... No one cleans them... But LYFT EXPRESS DRIVE makes it impossible to make money... I have 3 kids..and i have become more POOR driving for LYFT but because im a single mom who could never begin to afford a lease car and whos times needs to be flexible... I have no choice but to do this program im basically working every week 40 hours just for me to have $70 and im not over exaggerating in my pockets to last for a whole week on top of bills and my kids..and buying food... I've used Lyft three times now, all within the past month. Not owning a car in PGH, there are some neighborhoods that can be difficult to access, despite that I have a free bus pass and a bike. Also, there are some times that I just want to get somewhere quickly without the hassle of waiting for a bus or cycling over. Lyft has proven to be an excellent resource in those cases, providing me with a great transportation alternative. The first time I used Lyft, I used it to get to a friend's house in the Wilkinsburg/Edgewood area. Since that was my first time, I took advantage of the code on Yelp offering a free ride up to $25 (see above). The second time, I used it to get to the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse in the Spring Hill neighborhood of the North Side (near Penn Brewery). The third time, I used it to get to a restaurant on Bryant Street in Highland Park. All three times, the rides took about 10 min. and cost $8. Each time, a driver came within 10 min. of summoning them. Two out of three of the drivers were very friendly and conversational--the third tried, but didn't talk as much and conversation seemed somewhat awkward and forced when he did. None of them offered any water, snacks, etc., but then again, I don't really expect this--I'm just looking for a quick and economical ride to wherever I'm going with some friendly banter. Overall, I've had a great experience using Lyft, but I do have a couple of minor criticisms. The first is the range of service, which encompasses the city limits and the suburbs west of the city out to the airport. It would be great if the range could be extended to encompass some of the suburbs in other directions. The second is the lack of a meter--or even an estimate when the destination is entered. While fares are very reasonable and have been the same for all of my rides, it would be great to know about how much I'll be expected to pay prior to the end of the ride. Despite these criticisms, I am awarding a 5 star rating because Lyft has been significantly better and more reliable than PGH's other ground transportation alternatives (and no, I've never used Yellow Cab). For PGH, Lyft really is as good as it gets when it comes to getting from Point A to Point B in a vehicle that I don't own and don't have to drive in an efficient and cost-effective manner. read more
