Dr. Davis is an excellent optometrist who cares very deeply about her patients. My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Davis for over 20 years. She conducts an extremely thorough eye exam. She explains her findings and notes any changes to both sight and physical attributes of your eyes. Dr. Davis is very knowledgeable and patient willing to answer the questions you may have. As important is when she has noted changes to my eyes, Dr. Davis has explained the changes and provided a course of conduct for addressing any changes for which she was concerned. I have been wearing glasses for many years now and Marge has been fantastic in both selecting and fitting the frames for my glasses. So much so, in fact, I just have Marge select the frames she believes both look good on me and will withstand the stress I place upon them. Without reservation, I would recommend Dr. Davis to anyone seeking an optometrist who is knowledgeable and caring. read more

Dr. Davis is an excellent optometrist, very personable and caring when I previously used her about 8 years ago. However her office manager, I think her name was Marge, left a lot to be desired. When I balked at the price of frames and contacts, she replied "maybe you should get another job with better eye care benefits." Needless to say, that was my last visit. read more

Worst eye doctors I have ever had to deal with. They would not let me switch my brand of contacts until my yearly appointment, I had to buy so many more contacts within that year. They were the one a days and bothered my eyes so much. I had to spend 500$ more that year because I went through them so fast they ripped and hurt my eyes. I finally switched eye doctors and talked to them about how lydia davis office wouldn't allow me to switch contact brands and the new doctor was shocked saying they never heard of anything like that. Lydia and her assistant ripped me off. Lydias assistant was so rude and I would NEVER recommend this place for anyone ever!z read more

I just wanted to say that Marge may have a slightly curt tone, but the offended parties here are probably being a little oversensitive. She was both friendly and helpful to me, getting me through to Dr. Davis with no trouble. Dr. Davis is very knowledgeable and friendly, and we could tell she enjoyed answering all our questions capably - by far the best optometrist I have ever visited. Dr. Davis was wonderful. Great eye exam. Very thorough and explained everything. The one thing that is concerning me was the inability to tell me at the appointment how much the frames I picked out and my lenses would cost after insurance. I have never had that experience before. I was always quoted a price but was told that was not possible until the office manager "ran my insurance through" and that is done by computer and she had a lot of people before me that had to be completed. I called a day later and was told no price yet it might be available on Monday. This baffles me. I have a budget and need to make sure what I picked out fits that budget. I will update this post when I figure out the cost and my next steps. I did not have anyone be rude to me at all. Staff were pleasant. Review edit. Reasonable price . DREADFUL! While Dr. Davis is delightful, I guarantee that all the good reviews are fake. I can not believe that we were the only ones to have the most horrible time with Marge. She was rude, discourteous, unprofessional and acted like she was put-out and inconvenienced every time we had a visit. She talked on the phone when we arrived, never acknowledging our presence. When she did finally engage, she was extremely argumentative about all topics, i.e. insurance, warranties, manufacturers, HIPPA laws, etc. Quite the know-it-all. Not. I was an out-of state student at West Chester University, and I chose to go to Dr. Lydia Davis as she was one of the providers in the area who takes my BCBSM health insurance. My mother is an executive at Blue Cross, so I know when I'm being ripped off by providers. As Pennsylvania is very far from home for me and I was due for new contact lenses, I decided to make a regular annual eye check-up appointment/contact lens fitting. Within the course of two weeks, Dr. Davis made me come back FIVE times. FIVE. She did this for several reasons, i.e. she was overscheduled, made me leave and come back another day because she claimed that my vision test wasn't accurate that day for some reason and didn't dilate me, came back another day to be dilated, and then once more for contact lens fitting where she told me I would have to schedule another appointment to have surgery to get a risky eyelash removed. I wish I was joking. An annual eye appointment for someone with good insurance isn't expensive, and although contacts aren't cheap, I've been going to the same eye doctor back home for my whole life and I've never paid over $400 for a checkup and contacts/glasses. I was charged over $600. Dr. Davis' office made claims for every one of my visits. At the time I was naïve and young (I was 18 and new to the state) so I just paid the fees and asked my mother to look into it. Do. Not. Go. To. This. Optometrist. Although she seems like a nice lady she plans to rip you off big time, and took advantage of me. read more

If I could give them zero stars, I would. After nearly 25 years of regular patronage, no matter where I was living or working, I finally had to turn to Lydia Davis and her assistant Marge for real assistance; their response was to brush me off and treat me as though I was just an irritation on a Friday afternoon. Not only did both refuse to help me, but I was told that if I didn't do exactly as they said, to cover their liability(?) (this meant sitting for up to 5 hours in a strange, referred Dr's office in hopes of being squeezed in) that they would never give me an appointment again for any reason!!! Think about that. Every single eye exam and pair of glasses (and I have to wear expensive special lenses) that both my son and I have worn since moving to PA approx. 25 years ago, came from these 2 people. My unswerving loyalty was rewarded with coldness, rudeness, and a complete disregard of the effect of their pronouncements on one of their truest customers. Oh, and I should mention - during the 25 years I have been going to see them, nothing has changed. I mean that the carpet's still the same, ALL the furniture and equipment is still the original, and their parking lot and building have continued to deteriorate for 25 years. Makes you wonder, not only about how sanitary or safe that place could possibly be, but just how up-to-date their knowledge is. read more

I agree with the last review. Dr. Davis is wonderful, but my experience with Marge was anything but. She gives you the impression that you are an inconvenience to her. I was barely settled into my seat before she marked my lenses for bifocals, and they were not set properly. When I came back to have the frames adjusted and complained that I could not read with them, her response was "That happens sometimes." She discouraged me from choosing smaller, more attractive lenses, saying that they were too small to accommodate bifocals. I have since learned from another optician that this was simply not true. I believe that she did not want to be bothered to take the additional time required to fit them properly. After two negative experiences with Marge, I chose to find another optometrist. read more
