Dr. Neal referred me to Dr. McConnell (who it turned out is his wife), who specializes in treating double vision. She prescribed lenses with prisms. Unfortunately, the glasses didn't correct the problem as she had measured incorrectly. She ordered a second pair. When I used the glasses for distant vision, I found I still had double vision. I then went back to the physician who had done my cataract surgery. Shockingly, he said the glasses I had gotten did not have any prisms. Today, I returned with my husband to Dr. McConnell for an explanation. She maintained the glasses did in fact have prisms and suggested most opticians and even doctors can't tell if glasses have prisms but she, of course, could. I expressed my displeasure and distrust as she seemed to be more concerned about defending herself than about my poor treatment outcome. She offered to refund my money and refer me to someone else and rushed out of the examining room. Subsequently, an assistant led us to the front desk and said she would give us a refund of $270. My husband said we would accept the refund but wanted to keep the glasses as we were skeptical about the explanation about the glasses having prisms when my doctor said they didn't have prisms. While the assistant went to get direction, my husband retrieved the glasses. The assistant returned and demanded we give up the glasses. My husband told her we were keeping the glasses and it was their choice whether or not to give us the refund. What ensued was some loud back and forth about us wanting to keep the glasses. Dr. Neal joined this and did nothing to resolve the matter and adamantly requested we give up the glasses and suggested we wanted to get the glasses for free. So we went back and forth some more. When asked why he wanted the glasses more than he wanted to provide good customer service, he said they would send them back to the company for a refund. That seemed ridiculous since it suggested the glasses were in fact defective. As we were leaving my husband pointed out the office was not ADA compliant since there is a step up but no ramp. They yelled back that they have a ramp. Dr. Neal came over and held up a suitcase-like folded up ramp. In the numerous times I came to the office, struggling with my walker, never once did anyone offer the use of the ramp. Dr. Neal's retort was 'you never asked.' That sums up the poor quality of my treatment.

Sidney was especially efficient & kind doing eye chart reading, prior to seeing the doctor. Dr. Neal is excellent at his profession & provides for a lighthearted, comforting visit. Both my wife & I have worn glasses &/or contacts for well over 15 years. Dr. Putterman is professional, knowledgeable, thorough, enthusiastic, compassionate, communicative, calming, patient centered & kind. From the moment you set foot in their practice, he & his staff strive to provide the very best level of care. Any & all questions or concerns are addressed, not just brushed off, ignored or minimized. The practice is not one where people just do their jobs competently, showing courtesy & respect for their patients (meeting this standard would be a welcome improvement to a majority of other medical practices). Their entire team is welcoming & engaging; they do their best to meet the needs of each patient, often going beyond what can reasonably be expected. When you check in, receive your eye exam, get fitted for the correct lenses or contacts, spend time attempting to narrow down your choice of frames, consider alternative frame recommendations from staff, make your final decision & finally check out...you are the focus of care. Every member of Dr. Putterman's team strives to provide the best quality service possible for each person that comes through their door. Saying that they strive to provide the best service, doesn't quite capture the dynamic at work in this practice. Disney strives to provide excellent service, but Disney is very superficial. Dr. Putterman & his team provide excellent service because they care, because they genuinely desire to provide the very best service. This is because that's the kind of people that they are. The team doesn't provide quality care because they should, they provide quality care because that is their mission, because that is what they want to do. The heart of this practice IS THEIR CARE. If you find yourself needing to select frames, all of the staff are incredibly helpful & patient. Rochelle has an uncanny ability to find frames that I would never have considered, let alone selected. Rochelle is the Frame Whisperer; her ability to balance style, comfort & durability, is a much appreciated talent. Dr. Putterman & his team stand behind product performance expectations & warranties. They are helpful & available for any needed adjustments, repairs or replacements. I consider myself & my family fortunate & blessed to have found a vision care provider like Dr. Putterman & his team.

I missed an annual exam, and had to wait til my next period of eligibility. When I went to schedule the new exam and get new contacts a few weeks ago (i usually buy a couple years' worth) we discovered that my scrip had actually expired! Despite this, Dr Putterman gave me a free pair to last me until my exam this morning. This morning: first of all, i got stuck in traffic and called to let them know I'd be 10 minutes late-- they didn't mind at all! Then Dr. P took me back the very MINUTE i walked in! the exam revealed that my scrip had changed somewhat and that I now require a slightly larger contact lens for my right eye. Because he did not have any of the new scrip lenses on hand, he ordered me a TRIAL lens and then gave me another free pair of contacts in my old scrip to last me until the trial lens comes in. Did I mention that the only thing I had to pay for was the visit?!?!? The best thing about Dr Putterman and his office is that they are friendly, happy people who make a visit seem almost fun. The nurses laugh and joke with you, (and give great recommendations for lunch) and Dr. P remembers you and the personal details you may (even incidentally) share with him. I just wish I could find a dentist who was like him.

Unfortunately for me, he retired recently and a young newly minted optometrist now works there. Let me just say that if you're expecting even nearly the same level of eye care from the new optometrist, you will be disappointed. The new optometrist told me that I will have to go to another practice to get the complete exam that I'm accustomed to. She could really only do the eyeglasses exam - not the eye health exam. They sold me on using some piece of equipment that would allow me to avoid getting my eyes dilated for the exam. It was $39 out of pocket - no insurance coverage. I agreed to try it. The machine got a picture of the back of my left eye, but failed numerous attempts on my right eye. I don't think I should have been charged for this. Of course, they billed my credit card anyway. I think I'll have to find a new eye care practice after this.

I had been going to Lens Crafters for the past 7 years (but a different doctor) and had no issues. My most recent eye exam experience was horrible and that's because of Dr. Shereen Hakki. It's my 1st time getting contact lenses ever, and it just happened to schedule with Dr. Shereen Hakki last May 3rd at 3:40pm. I did not get seen until 4:30 pm. Dr. Hakki spent no more than 2 mins with me reading the eye chart/letters thru the lens machine; I felt like she rushed the eye exam and it was not very thorough. Since it was my first time getting contacts, the doctor has to stay to ensure I am able to put the contact lenses on and off at least 3x. She kept saying she has to leave by 7pm so I gotta put the contact lens on quickly. She said it at least 3 times and I thought that was very rude and very unprofessional. Dr. Hakki said I can go home wearing the contact lenses, however, during checkout, right off the bat I could not read the screen when signing my name on the payment terminal; I mentioned that but Dr. Hakki dismissed it and said "you had the contacts for 5 mins, you'll be fine". On the drive home, I cannot read the street signs, nor the highway signs, nor see my car's dashboard very clearly and it was slightly blurry vision. I also could not see clearly the food that I was eating that night nor read any text on my phone clearly. Imagine if I had gotten into a car accident on my way home or if I hit someone while driving? The very next day I wore the contacts, it made me horribly nauseas, very dizzy and caused me to vomit. The prescription Dr. Hakki gave me was: "OD -3.25, Cyl -0.50, 90 axis" "OS -3.25, Cyl DS" "Lens Type Progressive" "Multi Focal" My old prescription last year (from a different doctor) was: "OD -2.50" "OS -2.50" "Lens Type Single Vision" Clearly there was HUGE discrepancy between last year and Dr. Hakki's prescription. And so I went back Monday May 6. My appointment was at 12noon, but I did not get seen till 12:25. I told her that the prescription she gave me made me dizzy, nauseas and caused me to vomit, I could not read my phone, see my food that I eat, nor could I see my car's dashboard clearly. I told her my old eye glasses with my last year's prescription (from a different doctor) did not give me any issues. She held a lens over at my eyes twice, and concluded "your issue is psychological". How very unprofessional is that to say to a patient? She then proceeded to say "I will just write you the same old prescription and make a note 'as per patient's request". She did not thoroughly recheck and I was out the office by 12:40pm. To write "as per patient's request" was her being lazy to recheck my prescription thoroughly. I'm not the one with a medical degree. Do your job Dr. Shereen Hakki. I am now with a different optometrist, and with better care. My new doctor spent 45 mins with me, ensuring my eye chart exam was thorough. My new doctor, looked thru my eyes while I wore my contacts - which Dr. Hakki never did. Imagine if I got into a car accident driving home or I accidentally hit someone because I was sent home with a very wrong prescription and not able to see clearly? I do NOT recommend Dr. Shereen Hakki to anyone, not even my worst enemies. And lens crafters lost a customer of over 7 years.
