I love using Yelp to find mom & pop type places, and I never would have found this place without Yelp! As soon as you walk in there are inspiration signs and sayings on the walls and friendly staff greeting you. I just got a veggie omelet and some toast, and they were both fine, but this is the kind of place that locals go to- they catch up and share stories with each other. I couldn't help but overhear 4 men at a nearby table talking about snuff, surgeries and football. Really nice interior that was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Barrel chairs sit a little low but they have regular tables and chairs too. Food was delicious. I had roast beef sandwich that may be the most tender, delicious ever. Hubby had chicken livers and onions. They were well cooked and crispy. Onions were grilled. While traveling, we prefer dining at local restaurants rather than fast food chains. This spot certainly had a distinctive vibe, though I'm left with mixed feelings about the experience. Walking in, I felt like I had stepped into the Fellowship Hall at church, where congregational dinners are held--it had a cozy yet very informal feel. The barrel seats were fun, adding a quirky touch to the unusual space. The staff appeared close-knit, often engaged in lively conversation in the kitchen rather than focusing on the diners. There was also a child running around the kitchen and hallways from a family of friends who had stopped by to visit the wait staff. For my meal, I ordered the beef stew special with a side of green beans. While the beef was tender and falling apart, it lacked any real flavor. The green beans were clearly canned and tasted bland, making the meal even less satisfying. However, the cornbread was a standout--massive, buttery, fluffy, and cooked perfectly. We also tried the cheesesteak, which ended up being mostly bread with very little meat, cheese, or vegetables--a letdown. The fries, on the other hand, were excellent, cooked just right with a crispy outside and soft interior. The prices weren't outrageous, but they felt steep for the overall quality of the food. To top things off, when the servers finished waiting on tables, they all stepped outside to chat and smoke, leaving the dining area unattended. This is a good, locally owned spot in an unexpected location. One of the few locally owned places nearby. We went for lunch. It was very quiet when we entered, and dark-ish. They absolutely need music playing or some type of background noise. When we walked in you could hear a pin drop. The room is very large, with fun barrel chairs. This place gives "1990's country cover band is playing here from 5-7pm" vibes. The younger waitstaff person who initially waited on us was friendly and welcoming. Every other person we came in contact with who worked here acted quite inconvenienced by us, and were rude. The food was mediocre at best. The bacon on the the BLT we ordered was so undercooked that it was still white/light. The steak hoagie was very greasy and limp. The fries were barely lukewarm. If you want a local flare, this place has it in spades. From the barrel chairs to the community table, it screams hometown. The service was fast. The roast was delicious and fork tender. There aren't many places to eat in Flatwoods that aren't fast food. Luzader's is one of them. And every time I pass through the area I stop in. It is a surprise when you step inside to find a homey, cute and spacious place that would work for parties and events as well as for meals with family and friends. One side is set up with unique spool like tables and barrel chairs (sorry I don't have a pic) and the other is set up for events and has a stage and dance floor. Personally, I love the steak dinner and feel more satisfied eating here than a visit to Outback. Service is always pleasant and fast but I never feel rushed to leave. Prices are good too! On a road trip and like to experience local food vs fast food I can get anywhere!! I was a littler nervous upon entering the parking lot, but the reviews were good so we decided to try it!! I like to go to local places for meals when I travel, instead of chain restaurants. Luzader's is definitely local! The ambience is 1970s with barrel chairs and round tables. It is very dark inside - maybe there were windows but they didn't let in much light. It is not intimate - it's a big room that apparently hosts events, also, because there was a stage area. I suspect it could be fun to listen to music there and drink beer. But for lunch, the room was a bit weird. The service was good - a nice waitress who juggled a toddler from time to time, as well. The BLT I had was okay - a little greasy for my taste buds. The homemade potato chips were pretty good. All in all, it's a very local restaurant without bells or whistles. read more

We enjoyed our unexpected dinner and music. We are staying at the KOA for one night and we like to support local establishments, especially diners, so we went for dinner. Turns out there was a country band playing and they were quite good! Our dinners were good - roast beef was tender and tasty, rolls were hot, and mashed potatoes and gravy were good. Cafe Cimino Restaurant, Lloyd's Restaurant and Century Inn Restaurant were all closed. Stancatti's Family Restaurant was not open for indoor dining due to COVID. Nearing desperation, we stumbled upon Luzader's. I'd briefly scanned reviews, but had shrugged it off as a Mexican restaurant. After trying to eat at four other restaurants and failing miserably, they could have served cheetos and bologna sandwiches for all I cared. My son ranked Luzader's an 8 out of 10. We both agreed that the chicken quasadila appetizer was the best out of the food we ordered. David got an Italian hoagie and I ordered a steak hoagie. David typically opts for steak hoagies, so I tricked him after I took a bite of mine and asked him if he wanted to swap half his Italian hoagie for half of my steak hoagie. I knew the italian hoagie was probably better and I was right, lol. He eagerly took a bite of the steak hoagie and gave me the "you have deceived me" look. The italian hoagie was loaded with meats and pretty tasty, by the way. David compared the quasadila to Taco Bell's, which is a compliment. I give the place a 7.5. Very nice set up. It looks like they either have receptions here or music on the weekends. Very roomy. That steak hoagie wasn't anything to brag about, which lowered their score. What a find! Absolutely lovely place just north of the I-79/US19 intersection, perfect if you're headed to/coming from points west or south. Stopped passing through for lunch on a Sunday. My wife and I both had a great diner breakfast. Saw lots of other plates carried by and they looked delicious. Charming really old school interior, relaxingly quiet after hours on the road. Excellent lunch spot for a road-trip break. Don't judge the food by the decor - our lunches were well-portioned and excellently cooked. Taco salad comes in a freshly-fried flour tortilla bowl with a generous portion of taco meat, fresh romaine lettuce and shredded cheese, with salsa and sour cream on the side. Filling and nicely seasoned! Hubby (and most of the other lunch patrons) had the burger with a side of fries; again, the meat portion was generous and juicy. Fries were hot and crispy (possibly battered) and stayed tasty even as they cooled. Absolutely nothing to look twice at outside or in, but if the rest of the menu is on par with our order, you should definitely give Luzador's a try! Extremely overpriced for the quality of the food. The mushrooms on the special they served (my wife ordered it, I believe it was a mushroom and Swiss burger.) were going off, much to her dismay. She could only stomach two bites of it, and even then she ended up getting sick in the car before we even made it out of the parking lot. The atmosphere was very awkward to say the least. The waitress was polite as can be and very prompt, but the decor felt more like we were dining in a tool shed rather than a restaurant. High priced, low quality food. Ordered a hamburger steak and fries, they brought me a sirloin steak instead and when I requested the food I actually ordered they told me that I would have to pay for the steak they brought me as well as the hamburger they would have to make that was my actual order. My girlfriend ordered the turkey dinner and the turkey tasted like it came out of a can. I would not recommend anyone going here if they want quality tasteful food. Upon walking in I though it was closed it was so quiet and dark. The food was overpriced considering the quality. I ordered an 8oz steak medium rare it came out raw and barely seared. We were in Flatwoods and were looking for a new/different place to eat dinner, when I did a search for nearby restaurants and found this place. It's menu seemed to offer a nice variety and the reviews were decent. Our family of 5 decided to try it, and we all enjoyed it! My husband got the special (meatloaf) he admitted it wasn't the greatest, my 11 yr old son and I both got steaks, baked potatoes and salads. We both thought our meals were great, the steak was absolutely delicious! My 6 yr old and 3 year old had a pizza. They helped us with our plates, and appetizers (blooming onion, cheese sticks, fries, rolls,) so they didn't eat much of the pizza. But they said it was good! We shared a piece of apple pie that was absolutely delicious!!! They were also hosting a Halloween Trunk or Treat that out kids got to participate in as well as having live music!!
