The place itself felt like it may have once been luxury apartments that eventually got converted into a hotel. It definitely had that "someone's old apartment" kind of vibe. The bathroom wasn't spotless, the sink drained slowly, I could hear people in the hallway, and the furniture looked dated. I kept the windows closed since the view was directly into nearby businesses, and the A/C unit's light was blinking, likely needing a new filter. I found this hotel through a Priceline "VIP discount," but it didn't feel very VIP. Parking also wasn't included, and when I politely asked about it, the front desk agent immediately got defensive, saying I should have booked it when making the reservation before even checking my file. When I asked how I could tell if it was included, she snapped that "it says it on the website," though I never saw the website since I booked through Priceline. The interaction happened around 3:30pm, so it wasn't even late at night. On the bright side, the Monday morning team was much more pleasant, which helped end the stay on a better note. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but I wouldn't call it a VIP experience or one I'd rush to repeat.

The one with the bunk beds and the one with the hammock. Brooklyn vibes, so that means good customer service. The price isn't as crazy as some other BK hotels. I have been a longtime user and guest of Marriott hotels & brands for YEARS, especially the Aloft…read morebrand in particular - the Aloft New York Brooklyn is by far the WORST Aloft/Marriott I have EVER stayed at. Customer service from the front desk and staff THROUGHOUT the stay was abysmal and horrendous. Half the time you couldn't even find someone AT the front desk to help you out with anything, and when they were there, they literally would drag their feet or pretend to do something when they actually weren't! Anytime I requested or asked for something, I would be told it's 'done' and that I'm 'good to go', but inevitably I would find out that NOTHING had actually been done!! This led to me also receiving very rude interactions with the housekeeping managers, who would act like I was in the room without permission due to the lack of communication between any of the staff here regarding my check-out times and other such issues. As for the hotel itself, it clearly is not being properly maintained, and things are grimy, dented, and nasty throughout the rooms and halls. The door handle for my first room literally BROKE, and doors throughout the building all have half broken, drooping door handles...scuffs, marks, and broken bits EVERYWHERE. It shouldn't be that hard to maintain a relatively new hotel if there was an effort AT ALL put into it, but the staff/management here clearly DOES. NOT. CARE. AT ALL. OH - and watch out for scams here when it comes to charges they'll put on your card!! They created a second folio and had multiple duplicate charges for the SAME room and the SAME nights, and have refused to remove them!! I have disputed the charges on my card and filed complaints with Marriott regarding the shady, scam-like activities that the management at this hotel engages in. Needless to say, I will NEVER stay at the Aloft New York Brooklyn Hotel EVER again - and I highly recommend that all of you steer WELL clear of it as well.

It is expensive, service at the restaurant was slow, and there was a party boat going late into the night which made it less quiet than expected. We stayed out when they first opened and loved it so much but then didn't have any issues with boats, and also the price was half the cost then which makes much more sense for the experience. Still a fun and memorable stay, just not quite as relaxing as it could be.

The ride on the ferry is included in your booking and there is a golf cart that can bring you from the ferry to the "campground." Some folks who packed light opted to ride in on Citibikes. The walk from the ferry was nice but could be long if you have small children or elderly people. We started off on the wrong foot since our accommodations were slated to sleep up to 4 but there was only one bed. We ended up having to add a cot that tacked an additional $100 fee to the bill. Therefore when booking, I would recommend that you contact them beforehand to ensure your party will be suitable to the room. Our booking was for August and it did get a little cool so bring a sweatshirt just in case. The room was cute and had lots of seating and pillows. Towels, hand towels and washcloths are set in your room so do be sure to ask for any extras that you may need. I recommend booking a dinner reservation for the restaurant on site as you will not find many other options. Those options are not a short walk away and have limited hours. Would I go again? Absolutely, since I now know what to expect. The Collective is a nice option to camping in the City where it feels as if you were not in the middle of NYC. Is it fancy? Not really. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth a try if you want to try something new? Sure. Pro tip: There is NO access to refrigeration on site. They do provide a sizeable cooler in the tents but you will need to request a lot of ice and they were not very giving when I was there. #2) Bathrooms are a short walk from the tents but there's a gravel road with grass and its a bit annoying if you need to pee in the middle of the night!

Then they wanted me to sign a new agreement (short term lease) which included a no pet clause even though we had paid a pet deposit. I was locked out of my room because the batteries in the door lock were dead, notified them of this and it took them almost 2 1/2 DAYS (!!!) for someone to respond and let me back into my room.
