Goldin Choice Management is horrible. They manage the building where we own a condo. Recently water was leaking within the walls. When we called Goldin Choice for help they could not have been more rude, and snarky. They blamed us for the issues without even taking a look at the problem. It's as though they couldn't muster the energy to be polite. I'm sure it's not fun taking calls from owners/renters with issues, but if that's not your thing you should find another job. Not the first time we've had problems, and can't think of an instance when they were ever helpful. Will try to do everything I can get ditch Goldin choice. Plan to run for the board if I have to. You will not get your security deposit unless you call / message the company pretty much every day for three months. This was a nightmare of a customer experience. They ignored me for a loooong time and always had excuses for why the check wasn't ready. This company manages the new building in Park Slope I live in. Brandon W, the point person our board deals with has consistently failed to answer phone calls and emails. Every time I run into him, I feel like I am speaking to some snob standing in front of an over rated hotel in Hell's Kitchen who's about to explain to me why his venue is so exclusive and how my friends and I are going to have a good time while his support staff preps the gurney to which I'm going to give my left lung for a bottle of Belvedere. Speaking with the board, it appears he also manages other buildings in addition to our own. It is also very rare that he is on site to deal with issues. He along with the board members has recently issued house rules that looks like something more of a co-op's rules than a condo. It's laughable and I now understand why other unit owners may prefer to keep to themselves other than cry for help in vain. read more

Our condo fired Goldin in December 2017. They were unresponsive, rude and didn't complete requested work. Among the problems: Goldin failed to register our building with HUD; didn't pay vendor bills in a timely manner; bounced a check; failed to maintain the elevator, resulting in a citation; dramatically overpaid for a later elevator cleanout and took four months to reimburse a board member's expenses. read more

If you're looking for the worst possible management company for your building...you've found them! We stopped working with Goldin in June 2019 after many painful years with them. Among the issues: - They never came to board meetings - They took about 1-2 weeks to respond to e-mails, if they responded at all. It was up to board members to follow up, 2, 3, 5 times... - They would undertake projects for thousands of dollars without board approval or even notification, which often turned out to be unjustified or subpar work - We had a roof leak in our building and they engaged different contractors for over $10k worth of work that did not fix the issue. Board members had to work around them to find our own solution on our own time - They let the master insurance expire on our building (which one of our residents discovered through an audit on their mortgage) - They hired an exterminator who showed up to our building twice, but approved charges for 18 (!!) visits - When asking for a better building manager, they assigned us one who had been previously convicted of felony wire fraud and money laundering (and who also performed zero work on the building) - They overpromised and underdelivered on anything we needed, such that our building became effectively self-managed and we had to find our own contractors for any work we needed. To add insult to injury, they also charged us an extra month's management fee as a "transition fee" on the way out. It is said that there is an ancient curse in Chinese, "May you live in interesting times." Perhaps a modern corollary to this should be, "May your building be managed by Goldin." read more

Stay far far away from GoldinChoice. I am on the board of a condo building they manage in Brooklyn, and the utter incompetence and lack of followup by our building manager is borderline impressive. Not to mention that he hasn't been physically at our building in months. He also failed to collect on over $2k of outstanding condo charges from a former unit owner and signed off on the sale anyway. Goldin Management did a wonderful job taking care of our building in E Williamsburg. The property is well managed and cleaned weekly. Our rent was payable online but they were find with letting me send over a check. I have lived in NYC for a few years now and this property management team did good by us. We had to change in our move in date and they were flexible. Their cooperation and guidance was very much appreciated. Our super is kind, and our neighborhood is safe. read more

We arrange times to meet and they don't bother to show, they say they'll get back to us but don't. We constantly have to follow up and do their job for them. it's a total nightmare. read more

Wish I could do negative 5 stars! Our rental used to be so amazing and well managed before Goldin management was hired to manage our building. They are very efficient when it comes to raising rents maximum amounts allowed and forcing out good tenants. Golding management then turns around and rents the same exact apartments for 2/3 of what the former tenants(quiet, clean young professionals) were paying to NYU frat boys. Elevators are now constantly broken, common areas constantly smell of spilled beer, front door is constantly broken(sometimes preventing anyone from exiting through the front door), door buzzers were broken for many units for months,loud parties are now commonplace and complaints are not acknowledged. Fantastic management company - very easy to interface and immediate access to back office. Our manager is available 24/7 and has moved mountains for us. I have lived in two buildings that had very serious money issues and Goldin Management was able to clean up both of our books and make repairs at wholesale rates. The absolute worst! We fired them November 2017 and it will take our coop residents, Board and financials at least a year to recover. Absolutely horrible customer service, completely unable to perform the most basic building services reliably - they're just inept. No sense of urgency in an emergency, completely reckless with building finances and overall incompetent. If you think you're getting a bargain because their monthly fees are low, you're not - it's going to cost you more in the long run. Talk about slow and unresponsive. The contractors they send show up late, cost too much, and don't do a good job. To top it off, Goldin Management doesn't even keep a record of the contracts, so that if there is a warranty issue they are of no help. Property Managers are paid to take flak from building residents, and with regard to the person who commented that Goldin "can't even deliver the financials on time," I suggest this new-to-New-Yorker contact their building's board members. The management company plays a role, but isn't ultimately responsible for delivering the building's financials. Having been both a board member and a resident in a building that has used Goldin for a number of years, I've been generally impressed with their overall responsiveness. Our two contacts usually pick up the phone and respond to emails. To be fair, your experience may vary with the property manager you are working with. Ours have been terrific, especially in light of some very dysfunctional board dynamics for which they took the heat. read more

I am current board member of a new construction development in Crown Heights. Goldin was brought on by the sponsor before all of the condos were sold. The first property manager was completely inefficient. He approved invoices without so much as a glance. Unfortunately, by doing so he approved close to $10K in supplies for the sponsor to complete punch list items. Fast-forward more than a year later and $15k in supplies in less than 6 months; the property manager refuses to complete a simple chart detailing the sponsors cost vs. the condo association cost in supplies. Now its been months since we've been dealing with the 2nd property manager assigned to our development. Turns out this property manager is even more inefficient than the last... Didn't know that was possible. Board members along with homeowners and residents have to send multiple emails just to get a response. When financial errors are pointed out to them; they take a stance of "Well, human error is inevitable." Additionally, the property manager hasn't been on site in months for a board meeting nor to make sure the maintenance staff is up to par. Stay far away from Goldin. We've experienced 2 property managers and the property managers, supervisor. All were inefficient and unprofessional. I would give them zero stars if that were an option. read more

Goldin have been absolutely horrible in terms of managing our condo. The fundamental problem is their inability and unwillingness to communicate with the board issues that are brought to Goldin's attention by owners and renters in the building and a total lack of follow through on any and all projects as simple as garbage removal without constant hounding. If you own large building and primarily want a management company to give your tenants the run around so you don't have to or so that owners who are subletting don't have to address any problems, Goldin may be a very good choice... But if you actually want a management company that makes an effort to keep their clients informed, stay far away. Goldin has a horrible track record of providing financial information to our board. They do not keep track of the paperwork for repairs and engage very shoddy contractors who do work at inflated prices. I could go on, but I think you get the jist. I am sure they are very capable of doing a good job managing a property, if it's worth it to them. read more

I rent from a condo owner in Queens Plaza Condominiums and Goldin management, which takes care of the building does not do their job. Garbage is not taken out regularly, it smells on our hallway because of this regularly, the tiny laundry room is never cleaned and dirty. This building is also poorly constructed with electrical issues which are not evident until you live here. read more

My coop had a terrible experience over 5 years with Goldin as our manager. We found them to be either careless or incompetent in the payment of our bills and admnistration of our vendor relationships. We also found that they: frequently changed individual building managers, using sub-par / poorly trained employees, used incompetent vendors who did shoddy work at inflated prices, and could not justify expenditures for hundreds (maybe thousands) of dollars of our building's money despite repeated demands. I am now stepping down as board president of a Brooklyn condo which has been managed by Goldin for several years and feel compelled to give Goldin high marks for the stellar management they have provided over the years. Throughout my tenure as board president I have had the opportunity to work very closely with their team. As such, I have witnessed first hand three important things I feel distinguish their services. 1. Integrity. Time and time again I have seen a level of professionalism that improved the services rendered for our building. 2. They care. This might sound odd to say, but it sure has been a pleasure to work with real people that responded to my manic highs and lows as a board president, always understanding that this is a service industry and they are working with people. 3. They are experienced. Every time a new and unusual challenge presented itself, I found Goldin had someone in their office who either dealt with the challenge or could help me locate a professional who has.
