Took it off and realized the back of watch was not properly installed, therefore leaked water inside the watch. Drove back to store, they realized their error, shipped my watch back to Switzerland (to the manufacturer) , I waited 2 months and received a phone call telling me me my watch was repaired and I owed $500.00 for repair. Because they are getting more watches than they sell I got an offer of a gift card towards the purchase of one of their watches in their inventory. I reached out to 4 watch dealers and Hodinkee's was by far the most generous. I had an eye on a Rolex Datejust 41 so I accepted their trade in offer. I sent in my watch to them and read the reviews after the fact. Boy was I horrified and worried. Winds up I didn't have to worry at all. They received my watch and my final offer was the same as their initial offer - nothing subtracted. I accepted the offer and sent in my trade. It arrived overnight and I got my final offer the day after. I then bought my new Rolex which they held for me. They assured me they would not sell it out from under me during the trade in process. I made an error in my purchase order but they rectified it for me. Emails were promptly answered. Associates were very courteous and professional. Getting a live person is another thing. Often times, you are told to hold and after awhile you are dropped into voicemail. The secret to getting a live person is call on a Tuesday or Thursday just when they open. They are slammed on Mondays and Fridays. Anyway, pictured is my new watch which was overnighted to me. I'm delighted. It was described as "in general excellent condition." It looked even better - more like "used unworn" imo. So shiny! Spot on accurate too. An outright sell to them for cash is another thing. I sold them a couple watches beginning of this year and they were slow to pay. I'm not subtracting a star because this present deal was so good. Below is my new watch. She is a cancer, the crab. I described what I was thinking, got a reasonable price and put 1/2 down. About a month later I got a call and the silver ring was ready. When we got there they wrapped it up in a pretty ring box and a cute little gift bag. It was a nice touch. It is hard to make a crab cute, but I think they did a good job of it. I talked to their cad designer and she told me my idea helped inspire her to make a whole line of zodiac jewelry. Which made me feel happy to help.
