Amazing selection of jewelry. They seem to be really professional and knowledgeable, maybe that's why they are very selective with what they buy or sell. I went in to see if I could sell watch or two to them, and maybe buy a simple band to replace one I had misplaced. They buy silver coins and gold but not silverware . I dropped in Dorton within the last hour before closing on the day before a holiday and do you know what....I was treated with respect, kindness and the willingness to take the time to install all three of my watches with the batteries I needed. That was am amazing to me because most folks would have said that the earliest I could pick the up would be on the next business day they opened after the holiday was over. Not Dorton, they were just gems to make such a great offer but because I worked in retail and I am just not that selfish I thanked them for the gracious offer and said I would be more than happy to pick up those watches at a later date and not to rush. The day after the holiday was over I returned and I was promptly greeted and waited on. I was glad that I was also remembered and my watches were completely restored with new batteries. Dorton is an amazing store with lots of beautiful jewelry but most importantly the quality of customer service was excellent. My late husband started going to Dorton Jewelers back in the 1980's when they were located on Franklin Road. So I started going there too. I went there for many years (and several locations) when I lived in Cobb County. I've since moved back to Atlanta and now I have to drive back to Cobb County to go to their store. Yes, it's a long drive but I have such trust in their honesty and quality work that it's worth the drive. I've sold gold to them in the past and always felt that they paid top dollar for my gold. I stopped by this store looking for an engagement ring first then went to a lot of other stores in the area. I told them my price range and that I was just browsing and eventually left and was still confused about diamond quality, sizes etc. They explained some of the color codes, grades etc but it was a lot of info and I was in a hurry that morning so may not have retained it all. I liked Johns store and have dealt with him in the past so I emailed him explaining I was confused on grading, color code, sizes, etc. I met him in the store and when I arrived he was waiting at the counter with multiple books. Before he pulled out one ring he explained everything I wanted to know for more than 10 minutes plus so much more I had no idea it was so complex, even who grades the ring is very important. This was important to me because I am the type person that wants to be an educated buyer and not spend that kind of money on something I'm clueless about. No one in this store seemed to push the sale they just give you the info and let you decide which surprised me especially after spending all that time explaining all the info to me.
