They have a small outdoor area in the third floor and it truly doesn't even feel like you're in Los Angeles. The owner, Hedda, is very kind. She has a big heart and warm energy that you'll notice right off the bat. I highly recommend visiting the Treehouse. There are only about eleven rooms on the property, which is totally gated and sequestered behind high hedges. I selected the Charlie Chaplin Bungalow, which is located at the very back of the Property. It is a shingled, two-story house, with a private front gate marked with a brass plate stating "Charlie" that leads to a spacious private patio. There is an entry, dining area, living room with a fireplace upon which Charlie's canes are displayed in a cross. Upstairs, there is a landing area, with a washer and dryer, the bedroom and a bathroom with two showers. Before my arrival, I had colorful flower bouquets delivered from the nearby Empty Vase Florist. Th gardens at the Charlie are magical. Helen in the office is welcoming. I have now found my LA hotel, and it is without question, The Charlie.

The rooms and amenities are all updated however, and if you want to be close to Universal Studios or Studio City in general, this hotel is excellent. They even have a free trolley that runs hourly to/from Universal Studios and a LA bus terminal. Our 3-night stay during Memorial Day was great - comfortable rooms, beds, and friendly service. Rooms had plenty of storage space and charing ports, and wifi is free and fast. They also have an agenda of daily activities like group exercise classes, LA hot dog/taco nights, and classic movies next to the pool. Their main restaurant, Front Yard offers a daily breakfast buffet and ala carte brunch, lunch, and dinner. The only reason for the -1 stars is that their AC is an older, in-wall unit that gets loud when turned on. Outdoor Parking also isn't cheap at $50/night with in/out privileges but that may be typical for the area.

We had 4 people traveling and 4 people were not going to fit into the 1 king room. When we asked to be switched, they offered us a roll in bed, which was the size of a twin bed, would not fit two adults. When we got up to our room, there was hair on the wall between the shower and the toilet, making us feel like it was not cleaned thoroughly. Our electric car was charging on site and we were running back and forth doing things for the wedding, setting up, etc. No one informed us that there would be an additional charge if we were still parked there after our car was done charging. $58 later and when we mentioned that in our review through the hotel, they said they'd comp our food bill, which was 2 drinks and a fruit bowl, probably $20+. This was disappointing to my mom, who went beyond her means to stay on site for the wedding. This was completely disappointing as we were traveling for a wedding that took place on site. 2 of us were luckily able to stay in the luxury suite which was reserved for the groom get ready room (2 nights). If those stars hadn't aligned, we would not have been able to sleep comfortably in our 1 king room. Also, the suite does not have a microwave in it, we had to request one to be brought up, which I found unconventional. My cousin had their wedding here for how much money my aunt spent between the suite, a bride get ready room, and just the general costs of a wedding, it was disappointing to hear she had a difficult experience here as well. She mentioned that they pulled her away from her son's wedding reception to place her credit card down for incidentals. Why hadn't that happened beforehand? They had her card on file already between all the rooms she booked, so the fact that they took her away from this once in a lifetime experience is ridiculous. She also mentioned that they asked not only for her card info but for her ID. She told them she was not going out of her way to find that when she didn't have it on hand and they were in the middle of celebrating. Needless to say, it was an unfortunate experience this time around. I've been here before and didn't experience the lack of professionalism we experienced this time. The valet service and the staff that supports with luggage were very helpful and kind. It saddens me to have to write such a poor review for such a beautiful place. I have recommended this place to people in the past for general lodging. However, for weddings or any big event, this is not the best of places to host.

Which I feel is pricey but expected for Beverly Hills. Definitely cheaper than most places in Beverly Hills that has parking. Overall, if you can get past the noise, it's a nice boutique hotel.

The location is excellent as it's right at the edge of West Hollywood where everyone goes to party and have dinner. I actually live in Los Angeles and I booked a night at the hotel because I was going to gay pride, which is one of the biggest in the United States, but apparently the hotel staff forgot about this event. When I checked in my room, there were long black hairs on the floor of my shower and I had not used it yet. So I called for Housekeeping to come clean it and the person at the front desk arrived with a spray bottle and two rags which did not delay my concerns on sanitation. He told me that Housekeeping had gone home for the day and it was only 4 o'clock in the afternoon. It seems to me that on gay pride weekend the Housekeeping staff should be doubled up, and not sent home early. This was shortsighted of the management. Anyway, the front desk clerk, cleaned my bathroom with what little cleaning supplies he had. And I appreciated it. The one thing I will say is that the staff was excellent. They worked there a little butts off to accommodate the guest on this crazy weekend. But they exceeded their limit. This would be too much for a hotel staff of twenty and here there was only one guy at the front desk for the entire hotel. There was no valet the day of the parade. There was no baggage claim so luggage was literally stacked up in the lobby to the ceiling. I will be back next year because I actually loved the hotel, the location and the staff. Maybe next year I can give it an A+. Grade B-

The Good: -Nearby some great restaurants, coffee shops,…read morebars, and venues. -Nearby the metro station -Comfortable bed, a small kitchen, and a lounge area. The Bad: -Was unable to reach anyone by the office phone during office hours or the emergency line both during and before office hours. -The toilet would bubble up water and send whatever you had in there to splash back at you. -The shower would also bubble up water and we could not use the shower without worrying if the shower would overflow. -The parking lot in the back is a one lane and can get easily blocked. -The water back pressure issues were not addressed during our stay (we left a message and no response) and after we called both lines and knocked on the office door at check out time the owner finally appeared and told us we didn't have to check out and that we could just leave (check out instructions were clear that was the case) but we wanted some help getting out since our exit was blocked. We explained that we were blocked in and I asked for an explanation for the phones and the lack of working bathroom and the owner explained that it rained last week and they thought it was fixed. That's it. Basically, this is a fine place to stay if everything goes right, but if something goes wrong, don't expect any help from the management of this place. Also don't come here after it rains.

I let the front office now and they eventually got me into a different room that was out of this guest view this new room on the first floor and unfortunately, all three windows in the room did not lock. I tried everything and I could not get them to catch or stay closed which was super concerning to me. I had to leave for work early in the morning and when I went out to leave, I found that a car had parked perpendicular right in front of me illegally and I was unable to move thus making me late for work later that night or should I say early in the morning at 2 AM my neighbor was blasting their music. I heard the front desk come over in pound incessantly at the door and the guest will not open the door. I heard the guests in the room, but they were not opening for management. I was trying to get some sleep, but between this guest and their music and the windows, not locking and the man watching me I ended up checking out at 3 AM and went down to sleep to sleep in my car where I felt more safe all in all it was an absolutely awful experience.

According to their website, the hotel has been designated with a Michelin Key. -Ambiance: Vibrant colors paired with elegant design elements throughout. The lobby and courtyard are especially stunning. -Design: Thoughtfully designed spaces, including a courtyard with cushioned seating, a fountain, and two gas fire pits--perfect for relaxing. -Location: Conveniently within walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl and Hollywood Blvd. -Upgrade: We were upgraded at no additional cost--a pleasant and unexpected surprise. -Fun Fact: A reality show I watch, 90 Day Fiancé on TLC, filmed at this hotel--and coincidentally, we stayed in the same room. How cool is that? Feedback: -Provide additional waste receptacles in the lobby and guest rooms; currently, there is only one in the bathroom. -Consider switching to key cards instead of manual keys for added convenience. Helpful Info: -Complimentary Breakfast: The website description is misleading--breakfast is only "complimentary" if you pay a $30 service fee, which is actually tied to internet access. Worth paying the service fee if you need reliable internet. Our connection in the room was spotty--we had to step outside our room to get a stable signal. -Phone Coverage: Staffing is limited, with one team member often covering multiple roles (front desk, valet, driver, breakfast prep). As a result, calls may occasionally go unanswered. -Parking: Valet parking is available on-site for $45 per day. -Accessibility: The property has only two levels and no elevators, which may be challenging for guests with mobility concerns. Final Verdict: Highly recommend based on the stellar customer service, prime location, and beautifully designed ambiance.
