Urban Cottage living-room. Cute and cozy
Paula M.

I'm hesitant to write this. Word may get out about this hidden gem and when I'm ready to come back they may be booked. Seriously, this place is THEE hidden gem. Tucked away on a quiet side street in the heart of Hollywood lies Villa Delle Stelle. This place is a cross between home and hotel. What could be better? From reservations to check-in to the stay...everything was fantastic. Upon arrival, a gentleman (I didn't catch his name) greeted me and showed me the way to my cottage. Upon opening the door, I was so delighted. Cute. Cute. Cute. Being in the heart of the city made it easy to walk everywhere. I parked the car upon arrival and didn't move the car until check out. Love that everything was so close and convenient. Planning my next visit already! Thank you, Villa Delle Stelle!

neoclassic suite. lighting...im a sucker for cool fixtures

WOW, what a cool place. we stayed in the neoclassic suite last month, and we could not have been more impressed. close to the palladium AND ROSCOES !! The Neoclassic Suite was really cool. The bed was AMAZING! this place is NOT brand new, but it does have character. yes , i know its cliche, but in this case its very fitting. its like going to your grandmas big house , but she hasnt changed her decor since the 40s or 50s....and now its cool again. :) the limited staff help i needed was handled flawlessly. we will be going again soon. i added some pics too

I stayed here about a year ago and the reason I'm leaving a review so late was because I can't stop thinking about what a beautiful place this was! My boyfriend and I needed a place to stay near the Pantages. This was perfect. While it was walking distance from the Pantages and Hollywood and Highland (ok that can be quite a walk but it was fine for us!), it was still tucked away in a nice quiet neighborhood. Originally we booked the Neoclassic Suite, but because we had booked way in advance , they upgraded us to the Parisian Suite (probably to accommodate guests who wanted the Neoclassic who booked later - fine by us!) The Parisian Suite was amazing. It was so beautiful! It was definitely a lot of space for just the two of us. This suite could definitely fit 4 comfortably. There was a dining area and kitchen, master bedroom, and guest bedroom with two twin beds. While the decor was not modern, it was still very chic and classy. Parking was easy for this suite as well as it's right in front of the property. They also left us a baguette and some cheese to welcome us. So thoughtful! Might I add that there's a Roscoe's that's about a 2 min walk from the hotel. Definitely a plus! Next time I'm in the area, I'll gladly book here again!

My husband and I just stayed a night in the La Petite Suite. The suite is small but charming, comfortable and clean. Within walking distance to so much and in a cute neighborhood. It's a little loud with street traffic but overall it's a great spot. Parking for one car, where we just left our car parked and chose to Uber to our planned events in LA and at The Greek. When we got back to our room there was a ghiradelli chocolate bar and bottle of wine waiting for us. Nice touch!

Arrived in LA around 10:00am and had started calling the hotel at 9:00am. The answering service they have told me the office would open at 9:30. I was unable to get anyone until 10:15.. Once I arrived at the hotel the girl at the front desk was very nice. I told her that I had gotten in early and wanted to see if my room may be ready. She told me I was welcome to my room but it would be $15 per hour until 3pm. In all the years of travel and all the hotels I stay in I have never heard of this type of policy . Once I was in the room I noticed that it was extremely dusty... The walls are dirty and the hood over the stove hasn't been cleaned in a very long time. I also realize that the smoke detector is not working! Now I am at this hotel for the next 5 nights and I truly hope that things get better because they have not started off well at all!

We travelled with our baby so they brought a crib, his own organic toiletries and even a humidifier to help with his cold! Then the room service noticed me taking the beverages out of the fridge to make room for my breastmilk and he offered to bring me a fridge Don't even get me started with the toiletries. They offered Byredo Mojave ghost and it smelled amazing! The room is gorgeous with a view of the Hollywood hills and the Walt Disney museum. The amenities that come with the room is amazing; the dry sauna was great, they have a relaxation room as well and we loved the tea apothecary as well. I just wish they have tea cups in the rooms! Had to call room service to bring it. The room service and the pool size service were amazing! However. The San laurel dining service is good but it can be better. We are so happy with our stay and we cannot recommend Conrad enough! Such a beautiful and well maintained property

I was surprised and disappointed to find out that the hotel couldn't manage to get distilled water for my CPAP. This hadn't been a problem during my recent stays at the nearby JW Marriott or Chateau Marmont. The desk agent suggested that I try Uber Eats. I ended up ordering a delivery from Walmart. The bathroom in my corner suite was large. The walk-in shower had a choice of three different shower heads. However, many of the bath towels felt thin and were getting ragged along the edges. Several of the light switches are confusing. For example, there is a button for a "down light" in the bathroom. I never quite figured out what that meant. Plenty of bottled water (boxes, actually) were provided in my room. The concierge was unable to get my room serviced during the two-hour window I requested. I could see housekeeping were cleaning rooms down the hall when I left for lunch. When I returned 90 minutes later, they were closer to my room but still had not even started cleaning it. I went down to the pool for an hour. When I came back they were still one room away. Once they arrived, housekeeping was mostly excellent during my stay. However, one evening turn down service skipped my room. It was strange. They turned off the "make up room" light but did nothing else. On another morning, I had the green "make up room" light turned on but housekeeping left a note that they "respected my privacy" and thus did not clean the room. The in house restaurant, San Laurel was good for breakfast but my dinner there was terrible. Service at The Beaudry Room bar, and out by the pool (Airlight), during the day was excellent. Unfortunately, service on the patio in the evening was not very good. The server was courteous, friendly, and indeed, down right bubbly, but apparently had far too many tables. It took more than 20 minutes to get a martini on the patio. If a venue is going to charge premium prices (almost $30 for a martini), the service should also be premium quality. There was a dead frog in the hallway just down from my door when I checked in. It was still there the following evening.

According to their website, the hotel has been designated with a Michelin Key. -Ambiance: Vibrant colors paired with elegant design elements throughout. The lobby and courtyard are especially stunning. -Design: Thoughtfully designed spaces, including a courtyard with cushioned seating, a fountain, and two gas fire pits--perfect for relaxing. -Location: Conveniently within walking distance to the Hollywood Bowl and Hollywood Blvd. -Upgrade: We were upgraded at no additional cost--a pleasant and unexpected surprise. -Fun Fact: A reality show I watch, 90 Day Fiancé on TLC, filmed at this hotel--and coincidentally, we stayed in the same room. How cool is that? Feedback: -Provide additional waste receptacles in the lobby and guest rooms; currently, there is only one in the bathroom. -Consider switching to key cards instead of manual keys for added convenience. Helpful Info: -Complimentary Breakfast: The website description is misleading--breakfast is only "complimentary" if you pay a $30 service fee, which is actually tied to internet access. Worth paying the service fee if you need reliable internet. Our connection in the room was spotty--we had to step outside our room to get a stable signal. -Phone Coverage: Staffing is limited, with one team member often covering multiple roles (front desk, valet, driver, breakfast prep). As a result, calls may occasionally go unanswered. -Parking: Valet parking is available on-site for $45 per day. -Accessibility: The property has only two levels and no elevators, which may be challenging for guests with mobility concerns. Final Verdict: Highly recommend based on the stellar customer service, prime location, and beautifully designed ambiance.

They were staying at the Omni, so we figured we'd do the same. The location is great, just a few blocks from the gritty (and sometimes downright filthy!) streets of DTLA. The hotel itself is very nice, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. We had a corner room on the 8th floor that I really liked. Spacious, comfortable, and with windows on two sides. From one, I could see the Hollywood sign in the distance, and from the other, the plaza below. Perfect for an overnight stay. I managed to snag a last-minute reservation at a reasonable rate, just under $300 all in. The room was $243, but those taxes and fees sure add up! One tip: I skipped the hotel's $80 valet parking and used the secure garage beneath the plaza instead. Just $18 for 24 hours. Quite a difference! The location worked out perfectly for our weekend. We stumbled upon a fun event in the plaza Saturday afternoon, enjoyed dinner just around the corner that evening, and visited The Broad the following morning. All in all, a successful little downtown getaway. Comfortable room, friendly staff, convenient location, and a reasonable price for a last-minute booking. I'd happily stay here again! 5 stars!

I was always welcomed whether it was someone opening the door as I entered or the people at the reception. My flight arrived early and they were accommodating to provide me with an early check in. The elevators are close to the check-in desk and there was never a long wait for the elevator. I had a room with a king bed. The room was adequate in size and the bed was pretty comfortable. The bathroom has a separate walk in shower and separate tub. Where I feel this place is a bit outdated was the lack of USB ports for charging. The desk had an outlet built in but one of the power sources was not working. I had to do some work and needed to plug my laptop into the one working plug. But I also needed my cell phone and wanted to keep it charged. I had to unplug the lamp to use the power supply. There is another plug on the nightstand but that would have meant leaving the phone on the other side of the room and I needed the phone while I was working. But because I had to unplug the lamp, I had to work in the dark (it was evening). I can't remember the last time I was in a hotel room that didn't have USB ports so you could charge your phone at the desk and at the nightstand. I could have called the desk and I'm sure they would have given me another room but I was all settled in. Movies; this is the first time I have been in a hotel of this caliber where you had to pay for movies. Certainly I have been in other hotels where you pay for "some" movies, but not all. Usually there is free Showtime or HBO. No, I didn't travel to watch a movie, but sometimes it's nice when winding down in the evening or to have on in the background when working. They did offer some recent movies and even some that I think are still in theaters. Of course I would expect to pay; but most other top named hotels I would be able to watch movies for free. They do provide the opportunity to log into your Netflix and/or Amazon account.

Honestly, I was looking first and foremost for free parking, which is how I stumbled onto Hotel Olyver Los Angeles (formerly New Seoul Hotel). And what a find! For the price, you get a spotless room on arrival, daily housekeeping, a free morning breakfast, free wi-fi, and free parking. Now, depending on your expectations, the breakfast will either meet your needs or it won't. Remember, this is a continental spread: individually wrapped pastries (muffins and Svenhard's Kosher Danishes), apples and oranges, coffee, and OJ, apple, or guava juice from a machine. For what it is, it fits the bill. I arrived a little early and was able to check in right away. The lobby is nicely appointed, clean, and inviting. There are two elevators, and while neither is speedy, they move at a perfectly fine medium pace. When I got to my floor, I noticed every unoccupied room had its doors and windows wide open, and the breezeways on both sides of the elevator lobby were open too. I thought it was odd at first, but after a few days I realized it was airing the place out beautifully. No stale hotel air here. The rooms themselves are comfortable and well kept, and mine had a baseboard light that switched on with any motion -- great for those late-night trips to the bathroom. Housekeeping starts promptly in the morning, so keep your Do Not Disturb sign out or they'll knock (politely). And if you want your room made up, don't linger too long -- I stayed in past noon one day and missed my window. That's on me, not them. Just flip your sign to the green "Housekeeping" side when you're ready and they'll take care of it. My only nitpick, and I wouldn't dock a single star for it because it's entirely my issue, is the shower. The water comes out of the faucet forcefully but the actual pressure of the shower nozzle is lacking, and as others have mentioned, the nozzle sits very low. I'm six foot five and it hit me just below the neck, so there was a lot of crouching to rinse off and zero "standing under the stream to wake up" in the morning. A security guard watches the parking lot 24/7, either pointing you to a spot or keeping a close eye as you pull in. I never once had trouble parking. And the quiet -- it was so quiet the entire time. Even just a few doors down from the breakfast area, I was never woken by noise, and when I came back at night between 11 and midnight, most of the Do Not Disturb signs in my hallway were already on. I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation. Some may say the neighborhood "isn't nice," but a lot of these areas are simply trying to serve a large population of people who, for whatever reason, are finding themselves unhoused. I never ran into anything shady or felt unsafe during my stay.

There is complimentary breakfast served in the morning on the third floor as well as a shared microwave, ice machine, vending machine, filtered water sink and an outdoor patio! Issues here include: the bed had a stiff mattress that left me with back pain after one night sleep! NO microwave in the room as well! There are people sleeping in tents right across from the hotel! The lady at front desk forgot to inform me about complimentary breakfast and I just happened to stumble upon it on my way to the ice machine! NO fitness center! NO swimming pool! NO laundry room as well! You can feel the commotion coming from adjacent rooms as guests open and close the doors! No one informed us at check-in that housekeeping only comes if you request it. Because of that, we were left without toilet paper and had no idea we needed to call for basic room service. That should have been explained from the beginning. The complimentary breakfast was average at best and definitely didn't make up for the poor service. ONE STAR -- Unacceptable Management, Disrespectful Staff, and a Terrible Guest Experience…read more My wife and I chose Hotel Normandie LA for our annual local staycation. We love practicing yoga, exploring historic hotels, and experiencing the character of Los Angeles. I was particularly excited about staying here because I appreciate history and wanted to experience the atmosphere of this hotel. We were also temporarily staying in a hotel while waiting for the keys to our new apartment. Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing stay turned into an extremely stressful experience. The problems started late at night when we returned to our room with several bags. A night-shift front desk employee, whom I believe was named Francisco, stopped us at the elevator and demanded to see our room key. Rather than politely asking or offering assistance with our bags, he was rude and made us search for the key while we were carrying everything. I addressed his attitude, but decided to let it go and enjoy our stay. Later that night, after leaving to buy something to eat, we returned to our room and noticed that a brand-new item of mine was missing and that it appeared someone may have entered our room. I contacted the front desk to ask what had happened. Francisco told me he had checked the cameras and that nobody else had entered the hotel. We were uncomfortable with the situation, but chose not to pursue the matter further. The following morning, we went to the front desk to request a copy of our payment receipt because my wife keeps track of our expenses. Adam Ruiz, who was presented to us as the manager, brought up the incident from the previous night and insisted that nobody had entered our room. We repeatedly explained that we were no longer trying to argue about the missing item. We simply wanted our receipt. Instead of helping us with this straightforward request, the conversation escalated. After we disagreed with his explanation, Adam told us that we could no longer stay at the hotel. We were shocked. We had already paid for our stay, and we had not been told that we had violated any hotel policy. We decided to leave the situation alone and went to our yoga class. When we returned around 1 p.m., while we were resting in our room, Adam came to our door and told us to leave. He threatened to call the police and claimed that we had agreed to leave, which was not how we understood the situation. He also complained that my wife had disrespected him. My wife became so upset that she started crying. We were exhausted and had simply wanted to rest after an early morning. A housekeeping manager who was present witnessed my wife's distress and intervened, asking that we be left alone. We were grateful that someone finally showed compassion and helped de-escalate the situation. Despite everything, we decided to give the hotel another chance. Our new apartment was still not ready, so after our initial three-day stay, I paid for five additional nights. Imagine our frustration when, after accepting our payment, hotel staff informed us that we were no longer welcome and had to leave. We felt as though we were being treated unfairly despite having paid for our reservation. From a business perspective, this was completely unacceptable. The hotel accepted payment for additional nights and then told us we could not stay. The way this situation was handled cost the property a paying reservation and potentially more than $1,000 in business, not to mention the damage a negative guest experience can cause to its reputation. I cannot speak to the hotel's internal policies or anyone's personal motives. I can only describe what happened to us: rude interactions, a distressing dispute about our room, an unnecessary confrontation when we requested a receipt, and being told to leave after paying for additional nights. I strongly encourage the ownership to investigate this incident, review the relevant security footage, and evaluate how management and front desk staff handle guest complaints. Customers should not be made to feel intimidated or unwelcome for asking reasonable questions. We chose this hotel because of its history and character. We expected hospitality, professionalism, and a peaceful stay. Instead, we left feeling disrespected and deeply disappointed. My recommendation to the owners: take guest complaints seriously, investigate what happened, and make sure staff understand that customer service is part of running a successful hotel. I would not recommend Hotel Normandie LA based on our experience. One star.
