I would never stay anywhere else in Hollywood even if I didn't have kids. Wonderful hotel. It's actually converted apartments but still has that apartment feel, complete with a kitchenette. Simple but classy decor. Comfortable bed and pillows. Shower head's a little low but that's the worst thing I can say about it. Service is wonderful. In addition to the popsicle hotline, they have unlimited snacks, soft serve (chocolate coconut and vanilla on our stay - the coconut was a wonderful surprise), and Coke remix. Good continental breakfast included. They even offered us more snacks for the road when we came back to collect our bags. The pool is small, but gets the job done - and open 24/7 (while observing quiet hours). Hollywood Boulevard is in walking distance and it's a short ride/drive to Universal Studios and other local attractions. read more

I recently found out the Magic Castle workaround, where if booking a night at the Magic Castle Hotel directly and they tell you that they have openings at the MC upon booking, you can get into the MC without a member. So we did just that to celebrate my bf's birthday. Every staff member that I interacted with from the time of booking to the time of checkout went above and beyond with customer service. It's rare to feel such warm service these days and they provided just that. The hotel itself is rated a 3 star hotel so don't come expecting anything super fancy. It's an old hotel with very simple rooms. The bathrooms were a bit dirty, you have to slam your door to get it to latch, and you can hear your neighbors. But overall the room was comfortable and just what we needed for a place to lay our heads after a fun night at the Magic Castle. There are lots of fun complimentary amenities that make the hotel feel geared toward children, as well as a 24 hour heated pool. They offer self serve soft serve, one of the massive soda machines with tons of flavors, a popsicle hotline by the pool, snacks and full-size candy bars, and a morning espresso machine. There is a tightly-squeezed parking garage under the hotel and they'll drive you up the short hill to and from the Magic Castle if you need it. The two places only share a name -- the hotel is more throwback vintage and not so much magic. But that's ok. PARKING: They make sure to have parking for you! There's a garage that opens with your room card once you check in. Pre check in, there's a small lot and also 20 minutes spaces in front as well. SEATING: The lobby is small and no seating but it's fine because you don't need space to check in/out of your room. They also have a cute little gift shop set up which I had to get something as I checked out. For breakfast in the morning, they do set up multiple tables right outside the lobby near the pool. Really nice! Loved how nice it was set up. SERVICE: Amazing customer service! So many people were so nice checking us in and out. Off the top of my head whose names I remember are Nicole, Kevin, Gina, Johann, and Edgar I believe! They all answered any questions we had and were so nice! I booked the hotel through their website due to the fact you can get an invite to the Magic Castle! The Castle is a quick 2 minute walk but they were so nice to drive us over! They do offer rides back but before Midnight. Also when we checked in, they gave us cups of bubbly to celebrate my partner's birthday! And when we got into the room, they gifted him a birthday card and a full bottle of bubbly!! Extremely nice and totally top notch top service which was definitely appreciated! FOOD: They offered snacks at the front any time of day! But the real winnes are the popsicle hotline, the soda machine and the soft serve machine! Very nice and cute ideas especially for people of all ages! There was also an espresso machine in the lobby as well! There was a complimentary breakfast from 7AM to 10AM which we took advantage of and they had lots of pastries, cereal, fruits, toast, juice, yogurt. Very delicious! ROOM: You can definitely tell the room was a bit older due to the state of the room and the fixtures but all we needed the room for was to sleep in after a long night at the Magic Castle. It was a room and it did its job! I slept fantastic! And you could barely hear any neighbors around unless they were closing their main door because, our room included, it took a good slam to get them closed. The room was very clean and you could tell they made sure it was spotless. The sheets were neatly tucked and nothing out of the ordinary. Plenty of towels and plenty of little essentials like shampoo, conditioner, bar hand soap, and the like. OVERALL: A bit pricey but they do justify why based off what they offer on all levels. The rooms, while spartan and not luxurious, are clean, comfortable, and provide just the right touch for a perfect stay in Hollywood or a visit to the Magic Castle. They have many clever and quite frankly superior amenities, which can enhance your stay, especially if you have children or a family. They have unlimited snacks, which include really good stuff like sour patch kids, and microwave popcorn. And my wife and my kids took full and gratuitous advantage of this opportunity to the point of illness, simply because the snacks were free and unlimited. Of course, the famous pool which has the popsicle hotline, also a highlight of our stay. Our children called the hotline numerous times and staff was always quick to respond. The beds were comfortable as were the pillows and other amenities in the room. Clearly, they have hospitality down to a science at the magic castle hotel. I found this place through an Instagram reel that someone had posted. I really wanted to go to the Magic Castle, but didn't know a member or anyone who could invite me (since the Magic Castle is by invitation only), so finding this place was amazing! I stayed here for my birthday in late September and had a great experience! The staff: The service was truly five stars. I want to start by saying that I called them a million times before booking, asking all sorts of questions. They never once seemed put out and answered all my questions enthusiastically. The service when we got there was even better. They greeted us with bright smiles and full glasses of champagne. This is when we also learned that they had a huge list of free snacks! I am talking about a huge list of chips, candy, ice cream, etc. - for free! Unheard of for hotels or hospitality nowadays. We acted like kids when we found out and returned to our room with a little hoard. The staff was just amazing; they were very friendly and even offered to shuttle us up the hill to the castle. It's only a two-minute walk, but it is steep! And girls with heels or older people... not a good idea. They told us to call them when we were done (which we wrapped up past 1 a.m.), and they quickly came and got us. At one point, before we checked out, the manager offered to carry my luggage back down the stairs to my car in the parking garage (only one minute away, but they have steep stairs and no ramp). Now, among all of us, my family has stayed at a lot of hotels, but we all left talking about how well the staff treated us and how special they made us feel. I would 100% book again based on them alone. Accommodations: I booked two rooms. One was a suite with a full living room (with a pull-out bed), kitchen, a bedroom (two double beds), and one bathroom. We were three adults, and the area was spacious and comfortable. The other room I booked fit two adults - one queen bed and bathroom, but it was VERY small. Unfortunately, there was no dresser to put things in or on, making the space very tight. However, it worked since we were only staying one night. More than a night or two may have been difficult. Unfortunately, our rooms were not next to each other, so my party was separated, but the hotel seemed busy, and there aren't a lot of rooms. The property is small, so it didn't take long to go back and forth if we needed to. I will say that both rooms were relatively updated, modern, and clean. The property IS old and gave old Hollywood vibes - It is considered a 3-star hotel, I believe, so it was nicer than I expected! I want to note that this property is NOT easily accessible. Again, it is older AND on a hill, and they've tried to make accommodations for this (I believe I saw a wheelchair lift at the front steps or something), but I did not see any elevators to lift you to any other floor - there were three levels. I believe there were only stairs to access the rooms. This was difficult for my 60+ mother. I would mention any accessibility issues to staff so they can address them when booking. If you want a more comfortable experience, book the apartment-sized rooms. But if you are only there one night and there are only two of you, the small rooms would probably do. They did have a pool, which was very busy, and I think they even had a poolside magician for the kids! I even saw they were doing a movie night. We only stayed for the night, so we didn't get to check it out much, but the kids looked like they were having a blast and definitely took advantage of the snacks! The staff was very kind and patient with them as well. How it works: The Magic Castle Hotel is NOT the Magic Castle; however, they do become your sponsor. You can get as many tickets as your room holds, and the guest must be staying there (i.e, the apartment can fit up to six guests; however, I only had three people stay - so I got three tickets for that room). The other room held up to two people, so we got two tickets. Making it a total of five tickets. They booked my Magic Castle dinner reservation (which was required by the MC and was $45 per head to book). Parking was also $28 at the hotel per night. The Magic Castle was by far my best hotel experience. It takes a special kind of person to work in hospitality, someone who is excited about having guests, who is patient, and who is helpful and it felt like every member of the staff was that kind of person. There is complimentary soft serve ice cream, complimentary soda fountain, complimentary espresso machine, and to top it all off complimentary snacks including things like full sized candies. The heated pool is open 24/7 and there played cartoons and movies at night in the courtyard which included (of course) complimentary popcorn. Friendly and helpful staff! The rooms are a bit older but clean. They left my bf a nice little champagne bday surprise when we got back from magic castle! We don't really drink but the thought was nice! They can save a bottle on us! The down fall is the paper thin walls.. and New Zealand tourists are yelling down the halls at 9am and banging their suit cases all the way down the stairs. I get it's a shared hotel, but come on.. super rude. The pools heated the folks of the hotel were still swimming at midnight so it must be warm considering how cold it got last night! Never tried the popsicle hotline but our stay was comfortable. AC and heaters work well, and the fridge is stocked! Some water in the fridges would be nice.. but there's free water outside. Maybe a nice reminder to guests about noise level early mornings would be a great addition to information given at check in!! They have a pool that's open all day/night and a super cute popsicle hotline (which we tried even though we weren't swimming) I can't say enough good about this hotel. Even when I thought that we had asked a few too many times for a snack, the team here always made us feel like they were happy to get the treats for us and often offered a little more like an additional bottle of water or extra cookies so my son could make his own "McFlurry". Absolutely Magical! From the moment we walked in the door and was greeted by Shannon our stay was fabulous! They held our luggage until proper check in time and when we came back we had the best room! Shannon helped us carry our luggage up the stairs, was extremely nice explaining the amenities, parking etc. Also, didn't catch the name of the gentlemen handing out popsicles but also one of the nicest hotel employees I have met anywhere in the world! Room was large and very nice and the pool area is outstanding! I hate writing such a great review as I want to be able to stay here on all future visits to LA! The magic castle is a delight. I really didn't know what to expect and booked very purely based on being able to walk to The Hollywood Bowl. I was greeted by the nicest staff, 24/7 access to espresso and ice cream on demand. Who would have thought?! Admittedly, the room was older, but it was truly overshadowed by the experience. The room was clean and comfy, no complaints, just older. AC kept us cool and espresso kept us FUELED. The staff truly was incredibly kind. Every person, so nice. Great location. Breakfast checked the box, very continental but I love some cereal on the road. Breakfast is similar to gas station pastries, some boxed cereal, oatmeal and yogurt. Not much room for protein. To be fair, why spend money on a breakfast when most customers will probably go out to eat? The sizes of the apartment styled rooms are great for families or large parties as it is very spacious. However, if you're going to be out the whole day, better off getting a smaller room. However, being a 2 minute walk from the Magic Castle and 5 min drive the Walk of Fame is worth the money, just don't expect anything despite the price. The Magic Castle package isn't worth the bang for your buck unless you really want to eat at the Magic Castle which I wouldn't recommend. It was our wedding day and wanted to get away for a night, so we came here and could not be more thrilled. We needed emergency poolside popsicles, and we got emergency poolside popsicles. Welcome champagne? Yep. Coke Freestyle? Yep. Soft serve on demand? Yep. Heated pool? Yep. Full size snacks free and on demand? Yep. Free 24 hour coffee/cappuccino machine access? Yep. Clean, nice hotel rooms? Yep. Magician performing during the free continental breakfast? Yep (select days). But through all of that, the best amenity is the staff, hands down. They at least appear to love their job and genuinely love giving you a magical experience. What started as a mini-honeymoon I believe has now become an annual anniversary tradition. Just worth it in every way. I don't wanna single out any staff because they are all amazing. Any one of them would be "Employee of the Month" caliber at other places, but here, it makes for a truly, truly magical experience. So we came to the magic castle hotel so we can enter into the magic castle since we didn't know a magician. The accommodations were better than expected. The room had a kitchenette and a decent size living room for 6 guests. A table outside to lookout to other guests and swimming pool. The hotel lobby peeps were super friendly and offered and drove us over to the Magic Castle which was super nice even tho it's right next door. We did have two female friends wearing high heels so it was really nice they did that favour for us. The hotel is an old school apartment complex turned hotel potentially but I don't know the history of the place. I was never aware all the years I knew of the magic castle next door. I'd definitely recommend anyone out of town to come stay at this hotel that are planning on visiting the Magic Castle. Make sure when you book the room(s) you book the magic castle through them. You get free parking in the garage and potentially get a couple of guest parking spaces for your guests if they aren't too busy. read more

My kids love staying here every year we visit LA. Wonderful service, cool laidback vibe, great location to explore more of Hollywood. As others have said, sure the rooms are older, but I actually think that's part of the charm. Beds, a/c, etc were all great. Snacks for kids, popsicle hotline, all that fun stuff at the pool. Good place for family-friendly, accessible stay. Poor reviews seem to be people who wanted Four Seasons but didn't want to pay for it, not sure what that's about. What an absolute gem! We live in LA but planned a local getaway for our son's 11th birthday to the Magic Castle Hotel. We were a party of 10 with kids and adults and all had an amazing time. The staff could NOT have been friendlier and every element of our experience was designed to make us happy. Rarely do you meet employees who really love what they do, but each interaction with hotel staff was exceptional and you get the feeling they authentically aim to please. From allowing us to check in early and use the pool (and popsicle hotline!) to literally allowing unlimited snack requests to just being friendly and helpful, this was a truly wonderful experience. The ladies who checked us in went above and beyond! You always get a champagne toast upon check in which is a nice touch but we were talking to them about how we were road trippin from Vegas for a concert at the bowl. We stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel since we were going to the Magic Castle that night and didn't want to have to drive home. I didn't know what to expect and the drive-way entry was somewhat confusing, but after that it was an absolutely amazing experience. The initial welcome and service at the front desk was incredible! The staff was so friendly and welcomed us with a glass of sparkling wine, then explained the property and showed us where everything was. We asked to change rooms as the first room was too close to the pool and ice machine, and they not only accommodated us (even though they were almost sold out that night), but they helped us carry our luggage to the new room. The room was very spacious and very clean, with a full kitchen and refrigerator. We were only staying 1 night, so we didn't get to enjoy the pool, but it looked very inviting. And a midnight snack of soft-serve ice cream? Priceless. We can't wait to visit again and bring our little girl so she can enjoy the pool, ice cream and "popsicle hotline" for on demand popsicles. I booked a room at this hotel because it allows you to reserve access to their members-only club. This review is solely on the hotel stay. The check-in process was easy and fast, and the front desk was helpful. The room itself is another story. There was mold and dirt on the corners of the floor. There was even trash near the bed, which indicated it wasn't cleaned properly. The fridge contained a lock, and a random door was hidden behind a curtain. If it weren't for the fact that paying for a stay here is necessary to access the club and that we returned to our room exceptionally late into the night, I would have stayed elsewhere. This place is old and disgusting. Everything is falling apart. The shower was gross and the area is ghetto. Never again.

The Magic Castle hotel is awesome! So many cool things about this place. Not only is it the perfect place to stay if ur going to the Castle but Hollywood in general. As we were checking in, we were met by friendly staff including Nick Bass and Andrea Clark. They were both awesome and all people checking in were also met by Rod the manager. He was there to welcome everyone and offer complimentary champagne as we waited. The rooms were awesome and the place has a well heated central pool. So many cool amenities like the free soda fountain, free ice cream, and free snacks and the whole popsicle service makes this place so kitschy and fun! The rooms are huge, big enough for two couples and staying there will get u in to the Castle, if u book ur reservation in time! We also have to compliment the "night watchmen" Kyle working the overnight shift. He was great and since we got back early enough, helped us buy another bottle of wine and some munchies. It caters to families and couple or even groups there for the Castle or to hang out in Hollywood. I highly recommend this spot for all the reasons I listed and more! We stayed at the Magic Castle Hotel so we could attend shows at Magic Castle. The perk was worth it but the hotel was a disappointment. The rooms were very large but I felt the accommodations could be made to feel less cold. The furnishings were sparse. The walls and floors were not cleaned well. The walls needed repairing in many areas of our room. The living room light didn't work. We asked have it fixed. The young man said he didn't have access to supplies and it never got fixed. The perk was the free snacks and popsicles. That was fun to ask for free snacks whenever we wanted. Ok to get to see the show, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend staying at Magic Castle Hotel. read more

We loved staying here! We loved all the amenities. It's next door to the Magic Castle where we were able to go for two nights! The rooms are clean. They did our laundry and drove us to the restaurant up the hill. Please be generous friends and I encourage you tip the staff who are making your stay here just so wonderful. read more
