I was a patient at Luxium Chiropractic and was happy with how it was going but paused regular visits for 6 months due to a separate health reason. I have dealt with that issue but am now having a serious back issue. I called for an appointment and was told I'd have to start as new patient again and not see anyone for 4 days. Still loving Dr. Shain at Luxiam Chiropractic! In addition to treating my son and me, he now also treats my 23-yr-old step-daughter (who has special needs), and my 89-yr old mom. His extensive new-patient evaluation with in-house X-rays is still one of their biggest selling points. Through that, Dr. Shain identified an issue with a couple of bones in my step-daughter's neck that preclude any chiropractic adjustments ever be done in that area. That info was invaluable, as no doctor -- chiropractic or otherwise -- has ever identified that in her life! Then there's my mom ... Been trying to get her in to see a chiropractor for years, but she's been both afraid of jarring adjustments and thought since much of her issues have to do with arthritis that nothing a chiropractor could do would help her. Once again, it was the X-rays that sold mom on having her first chiropractic visit, as she'd never had a back X-ray before. Dr. Shain found an area in mom's lower back that should never been adjusted, and gave her a realistic assessment of what he can and can't do to help her. She is seeing relief in other areas of her neck and back, and Dr. Shain is so gentle with her, she's never had a jarring adjustment from him. Additionally, Dr. Shain takes extra time with mom to make sure she understands everything he's doing, and he gives her helpful tips for stretches and at-home care that have helped her as well. Best of all, Dr. Shain really takes the time to listen to mom's concerns about not just her spine, but other areas not related to chiropractic care. He's given her excellent advice on supplements to take for other bodily concerns, which has helped her considerably as well. What a difference in my life!! I've beewith Luxiam for a year and a half now. I'm so pleased with my progress. I have lupus and history of multiple Orthopedic surgeries with hardware placement. I started to go to luxiam chiropractor for two years now .went to them because I had hand cramps and backaches and I just was in bad shape at 60 years old . The first time I went they showed me what was wrong and year later no cramps in my hand I'm able to bend over now no pain anymore I love that there for me there the best people I now for back pain.plus who can tell you that they will work with you I you don't have the money to they will find something that you are comfortable with paying I would recommend that you go see them if you are in a lot of pain. First and foremost I was very skeptical about going to see a chiropractor after having a back surgery (laminectomy) back in 2016, and being a tattoo artist by profession you could only imagine the strain I put in my back continuously . I've always been skeptical when it came to chiropractors. Sure, I get your neck being off a little or the need to crack your back every once in a while but the idea that those type of things could have a significant impact on the rest of your body... pure Skepticism. I couldn't have been more Wrong. Not only is my foot in my mouth but also the foot of the dude sitting next to me. Here's how it went; My knee has been hurting me for years, but, like most dumbass men, I could still walk on it so no need for a doctor... until the day I couldn't. So my little sister, who is obviously smarter than me in this regard, tells me to go see Dr. Shane. I said "why, it's my knee? What's he going to do?". We proceed to "argue" for the next 15 minutes until I put my foot down and screamed like a baby... So I wal...err limp into Lexiam 2 days later and check in for my appointment. Everyone there was great, Audrey walks up to me all excited and energetic and introduces herself before showing me around. We then did a few tests and X-rays. She was amazing at explaining the purpose of everything she was doing and making sure I was comfortable. (My knee still really hurt and it was a struggle to put any weight on it). Once we were finished she introduced me to Dr. Shain. Dr. Shain is incredibly perceptive and great at listening. I told him everything that was going on, not just about the knee. Once we finished discussing my aches and pains we jumped, or in my case hobbled, into the adjustment. Up until today I didn't even realize you could adjust a knee but it turns out you could and he did. He felt around my knee and explained to me what he feeling and what the issue was then proceeded to make the adjustments. I was still a bit skeptical... The following day, not only did I not need the crutches I had borrowed from a friend the previous morning but my knee felt better than it had in years. I went back in that next day for a follow up, excited to show them the improvement in my knee. We then discussed my X-rays and created a plan for my knee, back and neck moving forward and he did a few more adjustments. I am now 100%, without a doubt, a believer in the benefits of chiropracticy (I'm pretty sure that's not a word but just go with it) and will now be seeing Dr Shain on a regular basis as I do this whole health journey thing during the coming months. I almost forgot what it feels like to be in pain. i've got missing Cartlidge, in my spine. and a slipped disc, that's was causing me so much pain the only think I could do all day was play video games and sit at my desk.... and that's not me!!! I lift, I ride my bikes, I'm a very active person. so I had to do something, the first day I cried, LIKE A BABY because I knew I was going to either be fixed or give up completely on seeking treatment. it's about 3 months later, I'm gaining weight, I'm lifting, I'm riding my bike AND I SOLD MY XBOX !!! almost zero pain!! Best chiropractor office in Reno hands down! The staff is more then welcoming and very knowledgeable about your overall physical and emotional health. I have been to other chiropractors before and never have I gotten an X-ray or asked thorough questions about my pain. When I did my initial visit, they x-rayed my whole body to see where exactly needed the work. I have had neck pain since I was 13 years old and have always had migraines that I had just learned to live with. I never thought I would see a headache free day until I came here. Dr. Shane is the best chiropractor I've ever seen, and I have seen many before. I have chronic neck pain.. something that is not particularly compatible with the lifestyle I choose to live. I've seen multiple chiropractors, massage therapists, acupuncturists, physical therapists.. you name it! Unfortunately I have found minimal relief of symptoms until I met Dr. Shane. He has a really unique style of chiropractic care that interested me. I remember walking into his office and saying, "Be real with me - I've done it all - do you think you can help me?" And he said he really felt that he could, so I decided I'd give him a chance. Well being the data scientist that I am, I have graphed my pain data for years, and let me tell you that with full confidence I can say that Dr. Shane has helped me immensely. I do still have days with pain but they are much less often and much less intense. Dr. Shane uses a really great combination of digital x-ray images and momentary spinal thermography (aka he reads my spine with a cool temperature gauge prior to each adjustment) to determine what areas need to be worked on and when. The most interesting part of Dr. Shane's approach to my neck pain has been his lack of focus on my actual neck... instead he has focused on getting my upper back in better health and alignment which has resulted in greater neck stability! Cool! He has also given me an exercise regimen to build my strength in specific areas of need. On top of all of this scientific goodness, he is a genuinely nice guy that cares a lot about his patients. And the office staff are pretty awesome too! read more
