I advised the gal I am her caregiver, and help her walking, since she does not use a cane or walker. She just looked at me like I had said something in a different language. I have ALWAYS gone in with my 92 year old client. I asked the gal to please come hold my clients hand since she was not allowing me in for her eye exams. Even as we are checking out, the gal at check out has no courtesy, or warmth another gal that is not professional at her job. Except for the doctor. He has excellent customer service skills. This review is being written in anticipation of bettering the office team, and the way they deal with the elderly.

In short, there have been multiple errors over many months, and I am not seeing LSE own and correct these errors in a reasonable way. I see from other reviews that errors and money grabs are a common theme here. (1) We discussed a specific contact lens Rx in the office, and then the wrong contacts lenses were ordered. When I attempted to reorder, it took months and multiple calls to receive the correct lenses. (2) When I went to fill my glasses Rx, I realized it was the wrong Rx. I called them to correct it, and they said since 60 days had passed, I would need to come back in and pay another $75. I was never even handed a copy of the Rx at the appointment, otherwise I would have realized the error on the spot, and we could have fixed it. They attempted to fix it by putting a random "Add" on the glasses, but I don't use reading glasses. I have asked them to own and correct this error, but they have dug in their heels on charging me another $75. I can't get a new - and correct - Rx for that elsewhere. Thankfully I noticed the error, and then the second error with the Add, or I would have been out hundreds of dollars on glasses I couldn't use.

Since I was 6 years old I needed glasses to see or read anything, and with beyond-terrible vision and a slight stigmatism I always assumed I wouldn't be a good candidate for Lasik. The team at Lake Austin Eye took me step by step through the process, was patient and good humored through the procedure itself, and has been generous, diligent, detail-oriented, and delightful in our post-procedure sessions. 20/10 would recommend, and I'm already working on convincing a couple friends and family members to take the jump... I was fortunate enough to see a great deal LasikPlus was offering in my Cigna dashboard, and things progressed very quickly from there! Had a free 15 min video consult, that led to an in person consult where everybody was so helpful and comforting. It was about 1.5-2hrs of eye exams before concluding with booking an appointment. I was not expecting to move this quickly, but the staff and online presence, made me feel comfortable...and excited. From there, Dr Brewer took about 5 minutes to successfully complete the procedure, and sent me home with plenty of recovery guidance and meds. Not only that, he called me a couple of days before to answer some questions I had over a 25 minute call! He made me feel comfortable right away, and throughout the process. My eyes felt better the next day, and now I'm a month in with constant improvements. Thank you all, highly recommended! Affordable, and top quality service.

This review is over due by two years…read more... I was recommended by Dr Brewer by a close friend that had gotten lasik with Dr Brewer in San Antonio office. I was so nervous about getting lasik but I am so glad I did because it's the best investment in my self I had ever done. Plus the lifetime warranty was what seal the deal. The fact that your vision may change again at a certain age and getting a lasik touch up is covered was reassuring it was money well spent. Honestly I wish I have gotten this procedure done over two decades and half ago because it would have saved me so much money on all the glasses I got each year. The total cost of lasik was less than the total value of glasses and eye care I spent. I wouldn't have struggle with embarrassing infamous foggy ‍ glasses when I am over heating or temp changes. Plus even with glasses I felt I could never really see clearly since I have astigmatism in both eyes. I was really surprised to hear through lasik I was able to get that corrected too. The whole process from beginning to end was easy and the best thing I ever decided to do. I can see the immediate results after the procedure is done. In my personal experience which my friend didn't seem to have the same experience....After the procedure when the numbing solution wears off and when you get home, your eyes burns like hell but follow the instructions given and go to bed right after and you will be fine. The next morning 20/20 vision. It's like magic ! It's unbelievable shocking how clearer I can see everything. The procedure was super fast like less than 5 mins total. I was shock how fast it went. Dr Brewer is the absolute best! Do I recommend Dr Ryan Brewer? 100000% recommend Dr Brewer! If you qualify for lasik, do it! Note before the procedure you will need to go get a consultation and screening to see if you qualify. For example, if you have super dry eyes then you will get declined. Luckily I thought I had dry eyes but it wasn't to the point where I didn't qualify. After the procedure for a few months I did see glares on vehicle windshields when wearing sunglasses but with consistently apply eye drops my eyes heal and I don't see that any more. I highly recommend Dr Ryan Brewer!

I'm also impressed that the Wongs have chosen to share their expertise by endowing an eye institute at the University of Texas at Austin. My most recent personal experience with Austin Eye was surgery for lens replacement. While some have derided the facility on Bee Caves Rd as factory-like, I would counter that with the fact that consistent good practices yield consistently good results. I felt well cared for throughout the process, and the results (my excellent recovery and visual acuity) speak for themselves. In the event there had been any problems, I was given Dr. Wong's direct cell number and email. The Austin Eye facility is beautiful, modern, and well-maintained. The same may be said of the older location along Jollyville Rd. I highly recommend Austin Eye for their expertise, state-of-the-art equipment set, and very positive and helpful office staff.

I really wanted to have a better experience here, but unfortunately, it turned into a long and…read morefrustrating process that never resulted in a proper outcome. I initially came in for an eye exam in August 2025 and had no issues getting my contact lens prescription, which I use daily. However, when my allergies flared up later in the year, I reached out to get my glasses prescription so I could switch over. That's where things started to go wrong. The prescription I received included a pupillary distance (PD) that was not actually measured--it appeared to be defaulted. At the time, I didn't know this, so I used the prescription to order glasses online. When they arrived, I couldn't see out of them at all. When I went back in, the PD issue was acknowledged as a likely cause, but I was also told the prescription itself was "accurate," which was confusing given the incorrect measurement. To their credit, they remade the lenses for two pairs of glasses, and I also purchased a third pair in-store using my insurance. Unfortunately, even with updated PD measurements, none of the glasses worked. My vision felt completely distorted--like looking through a funhouse mirror--and it was honestly not safe to drive. I returned multiple times for adjustments, including changes to the prescription, but nothing resolved the issue. I was repeatedly told to "give it time," even though the problem clearly wasn't minor adjustment discomfort. On top of that, communication and wait times became another issue. During one visit, I waited about 45 minutes without any update, only to find out staff was tied up and short-handed. That should have been communicated upfront. I will say that Kevin and Ashley were kind, empathetic, and genuinely tried to help throughout the process. I appreciate their efforts. However, the overall experience still fell short. What was most disappointing was the response when I called to ask what could be done about the money I had spent on lenses that still didn't work. I was told it might be best to "put a stop" to further adjustments since they had already paid out of pocket--despite the fact that these issues were not caused by me. That response felt dismissive and unprofessional given the situation. I ultimately sought a second opinion elsewhere and immediately experienced a higher level of care, attention to detail, and accuracy. I think the biggest takeaway is this: when it comes to vision, precision and thoroughness are critical. Measurements like PD should always be properly taken, and when something clearly isn't working, patients should feel supported--not dismissed.

Super easy to make appointments online, I do wish they have an automated text message reminder…read morethough because I honestly forgot about it. No big deal though, they didn't think much of it and you can reschedule on the phone/online. Clean and organized offices, relatively short wait time (less than 10 mins after check-in), and I feel like everyone who works there genuinely enjoys their job. It feels a bit of a manufacturing line - you get seen by an assistant first to go over a bunch of standard questions, a quick eye scan (there is one x-ray that costs an extra $39 which kind of is glossed over but optional). Then the optometrist comes in and reviews the x-ray and does the more thorough eye exam. As for the brands they carry in-store: Oliver Peoples, Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, Chanel, Tom Ford, Prada, Gucci, Paul Smith, Catch London, Oakley, Via Spiga, MaxMara, and their own line. Trying on a pair of frames with the numbers on file is also relatively quick, but I also felt like when they itemize the cost, it's all chicken scratch. They literally look up numbers in a binder, and then scribble out the lens cost, material, anti-scratch, anti-glare, transitional, etc on your print-out. In this day and age, I think a template on the computer screen shouldn't be too hard to look at together?
