I went back 2 weeks later for a small tattoo for myself and then within months, was collaborating with Mike on a half sleeve incorporate a cover-up. I gave Mike reference photos of the 2 dragons I wanted, some high-level ideas and a deposit and he turned that into a beautiful piece. We had sessions every two weeks for 3 months and I can confidently say he is consistently friendly, chill, cares about his clients' comfort, has little ego and really wants people to love their ink. Following his advice was never a mistake, he's an artist you can trust. I'm already planning my next big piece. Beyond Mike, the shop itself is great. I told Mike exactly where I wanted the holes; he made marks and showed me for my OK. One he hit and the other he missed, although not by a lot. Worse still, the holes are at an angle. The hole exits the back of my earlobe lower than where it is in front, so you can see the backings of all studs, and you can tell that the studs are at a 45 degree angle. The place is sanitary, and he is easy to talk to, but won't be going back, have to see someone else about new holes that look right.

When I went in later, Eric apologized for delaying the appointment, and that he explained firmly to the walk-in that he had a scheduled appointment and would need to work quickly to respect my appointment. I really appreciated that. Eric asked me if I could describe or show him what I wanted. I showed him a couple of pics I found on the web. He said no problem, would probably take about 15 minutes. He sketched it by hand first, then transferred to a computer, and then got to work. It took about 15 minutes like he said and I love it! Eric explained the tattoo after care that I should follow, as well as providing me with printed instructions. If I decide to get another tattoo, I will definitely patronize this studio again! Gold clasp wasn't in my price range, but I found a really cute silver hoop with stones that worked for me and was within my price range. Then my buddy Zach took care of the actual switch--removing the retainer and putting in the new hoop. He got the size just right, and I absolutely love the new look! Communicating through their site, I received a response quickly. They paired me with an artist and I quickly reviewed his work online. I knew quickly that my somewhat simple design (Picasso's Don Quixote), and all black coloring would probably be simple for Mike. Turns out, it was! I could have left a deposit and gone for a consultation first, but decided to just roll in and get it done. I'm an anxious guy and am older, so hanging at the tat shop isn't my norm! The front desk person was so kind and clearly loves their job. They paired me with an artist who went to art school, was a little older (sorry Mike!) and took the assignment to heart. He worked on me for about 2.5 hours and I still am surprised at how inexpensive the final product cost. Mike clearly explained aftercare and made sure I knew what to do and avoid. He also made sure to let me know that 54 year old skin heals differently than 20! A solid month later and I couldn't be more pleased with my tattoo. My other calve is itching for ink, and I'm excited to know where and who to go to. Disclaimer: I don't know shit about tattoos, but I love what Hunter Gatherer and Mike did for me.

Janelle had been recced to me by a friend and she was wonderful, very personable, and fun to talk to! Sadly she suddenly moved out of state so I wasn't able to book her for my next session. Next session was with Gwen which I was able to coordinate everything via Instagram. I had some floral work and words as a tribute to my Grandma that recently passed away. Gwen was equally as awesome as Janelle and I had a blast hanging out with her while getting inked! Fantastic work by both artists, I will definitely continue to come back here for future work! The facility is very clean and everyone I've interacted with here is great. Some take deposits, some don't but they are cash only and do have an ATM ($300 limit) on site.
