From start to finish, everyone we interacted with from the planning and coordination team was kind, responsive, and incredibly helpful. From our initial email inquiry and on-site tour to the day of our actual ceremony, the entire process felt streamlined and professional. Wedding planning is insanely overwhelming and stressful, whether or not you have a wedding planner or coordinator working with you. There's so many considerations and small details that are not mentioned to you when you start planning -- such as guest parking, event insurance, alcohol supplies for your bartender, late-night staffing, etc. However, with the aforementioned list and more, Mia walked us through it all in detail and even provided a list of trusted vendors they've worked with in the past at the venue that made decision-making a lot easier. On the day of our wedding, our florist forgot the arch -- a major oversight that would've really shaken up our day, but Mia came to our rescue and let us know there was one on-site that we could rent. Amazing! Mia consistently made sure that any loose ends were tied up before we even noticed them. In contrast to Mailani's review, we felt the team at Pema Osel Ling set very clear expectations from the get-go on what is and isn't allowed. There's really no excuse for not following the rules. After careful consideration, I decided that if anything, I should warn other couples that are in the midst of their venue hunt as my experience here wasn't pleasant... to put it lightly. To start off, a bit of a background on myself, I work as a sales manager for a weddings/events company in the Monterey area and am also recently engaged and on the hunt for my dream wedding venue. I know how this process goes and I completely understand that for most couples, it can be both stressful and exciting hunting around for venues and ultimately making a very important decision - booking your BIG day at a wedding venue that perfectly fits you and your partner! Being that I do this for a living, the first thing you are taught in sales is to make the couple comfortable and to be a friendly advisor at the least. The last thing that any couple considers when showing up to a tour is being met with an employee who is rude and abrasive. Unfortunately, that is something we experienced when we came to tour the Amphitheater of the Redwoods. Don't get me wrong, the correspondence from the initial inquiry, to the proposal, to the set up and scheduling of our tour was great! However, when it came down to the actual in-person venue tour with Becka, things went South very quickly. We had emailed Becka the morning of our venue tour asking if it'd be okay to bring our small, very well-behaved dog along with us during our tour as we live an hour away from the venue and still had plans afterwards to visit with family in a different city. We typically don't leave her home alone on our days off. We didn't receive a response from Becka and figured if our dog wasn't allowed on the tour we could leave her in the car and check on her throughout if needed. Fast forward to the tour itself - we parked, rolled down the windows for our dog, Mia, and started walking off to find POL's main office. As we walked over to find the office, Mia let out about 3 barks once she lost sight of us. Understandably so, being that she's in an unfamiliar place and we typically never leave her in the car due to the fear of our car overheating with Mia inside. After barking those 3 times she eventually stopped which helped settle my anxieties of leaving her in the car. We were still in hopes that once connecting with Becka, we'd be given the thumbs up to bring Mia on our tour especially considering POL is mostly an outdoor venue. We located the office and found Becka. We were of course extremely excited to be shown around the property as we really felt that after our tour we'd be finally booking our wedding venue... only to be greeted with "was that your dog that was just barking?" we told her "yes, she's in the car since we weren't sure if she could join us." Becka responded with "well if she continues barking we'll need to reschedule this tour because we have a farewell brunch taking place and she can't come with us" At this point my fiancé and I are standing there silent because this is probably the last thing we would've expected. She continued on by saying, "can we reschedule your tour for a different day?" my fiancé knew how excited I was to see the place and after driving an hour to check it out, we definitely weren't turning around and leaving. He offered to go sit in the car and miss out on the tour because Becka clearly wasn't going to let us bring Mia along.

She was also our day of coordinator for the day as well. She did an absolutely great job! She executed nearly both events flawlessly. There were some minor hiccups the day of that could have been perhaps dropped because of lack of communication or perhaps lack of staff the day of. We also lost part of our deposit for the venue because her staff took a bit longer to clean up then was allotted. However, regardless of all of the little hiccups the wedding and rehearsal dinner were absolutely gorgeous. She surpassed our wildest expectations and gave us the wedding of our dreams. Her price is worth the quality that she offers her clients. Minor hiccups were nothing compared to the job she did.

The bridal area was lovely for getting ready, the groomsmen had a fantastic time in the groom's suite, and the ceremony and reception spaces were perfect. There was even a grassy lawn for the kids to run around on. From our first meeting, Elyse was incredibly responsive and helpful with my countless questions. She ensured everything was perfect for our big day. We got married at Hilltop Hacienda, and the day went off without a hitch. My husband and I didn't have to worry about any details because the staff had everything under control. They were friendly and helpful to all our guests, who couldn't stop raving about the perfect day. The views were gorgeous, and the ceremony and reception spaces were stunning. The venue is gorgeous, and it was the perfect place for my outdoor wedding. There is a redwood grove or great lawn facing distant views of the Pacific Ocean that are both beautiful options for a ceremony. The patio facing the lawn is perfect for dinner, and the indoor courtyard is stunning and great for cocktails and dancing. We didn't use the Hacienda itself much except for guests who wanted to sit by the fire (it's a good backup plan for inclement weather). The bridal house is amazing and accommodates many people for getting ready (multiple rooms and bathrooms, living/dining areas, with a gorgeous patio with the same amazing views out to the ocean). There is also a separate Casita with a bathroom for the groom's party to get ready. There are so many beautiful natural and architectural places for photographs as well. The landscaping is beautiful, so you don't need to spend money on many extra florals. Weddings have exclusive use of the venue, which makes it really private and intimate. The Spring Promo deal was a great value and included buffet catering/cake/dessert, alcohol package, DJ/MC, tables/chairs/etc, ceremony arbor, some florals (it was enough given the landscaping), taxes/tips. The deal is for 100 guests, and when my group ended up being half of that, Andrea (Events Manager) was so kind and tried to give us more value for the money: double the variety of passed appetizers than was initially included in the package and adding orchids (my favorite flower) to the florals. The all-inclusive nature of the package was so amazing for not having to worry about each of these things individually. Since the catering was included and food was very important to us, I was initially nervous to sign the contract before tasting the food. My family and I were so happy on our Tasting Day when the food was excellent, and everything we tried was delicious (and I think we have pretty high standards for food)! They were also so accommodating of dietary restrictions and preferences. Since our package was a served buffet, the vegetarian/vegans were given their own plates separately. The cake and assorted dessert were also delicious (and they were willing to make a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting as we requested). The DJ/MC (Courtney Helms) was assigned from Sound in Motion, and we got along great. He did a wonderful job too - I danced the whole night! He was also very accommodating with including French music that we compiled (my husband is French). Finally, I cannot say enough wonderful things about Andrea (Event Manager), Elyse (Wedding Coordinator), and the entire staff! I did not have a wedding planner, and they filled the job beautifully. I was so impressed with their communication. They responded promptly and warmly to every email, line-by-line, answering all my questions for months! They were so supportive and patient, and they seemed as invested as I was in having a wonderful wedding day and making everyone happy and comfortable. She was the first vendor we ever booked, and she is worth every penny and so much more. A month after we got engaged, my fiancé and I decided to try and visit some venues. After visiting seven wedding venues in two days and driving a total of 8 hours back and forth, we decided we can't do this alone, and needed a wedding planner. We chose Janice because of her exceptional background experience and her willingness to customize a package that fit our needs and our budget. Janice is very professional, responds to emails very quickly, which was very important to me, and she's just fun and easy to work with. Janice started us off with a checklist every month that listed things that we should and need to do. Janice helped us find a beautiful venue that fit our required parameters. Without Janice's help, it would be highly unlikely that we would have found Half Moon Bay Golf Links as a venue. It was perfect in the fact that it was by the ocean, had a beautiful backdrop of the Ritz Carlton, and the menu served steak and lobster, which was a must! Not only did Janice help us secure a venue, she also helped us find a DJ and when we decided last minute that we wanted a videographer, she tapped into her extensive network to give us some options within our price range. Janice helped us review all contracts we signed with other vendor which was super helpful because sometimes we would miss details that we would want clarified within the contract. She also negotiated rates on our behalf and saved us thousands of dollars, literally. Janice always had our best interest in mind. Janice was always on top of things and super responsive over emails. We did almost all of our correspondences over email. We met with Janice for the first time during our menu tasting at our venue. She came prepared and full of questions for the venue and took copious notes. After the meeting she followed up with the venue coordinator to nail down the details. Janice sent us a template of a minute-by-minute timeline that served as a way to organized and plan our wedding day. When she first sent it to us, it was one and a half pages. She mentioned that by the time the wedding rolled around, the document would be 10+ pages. It was hard to imagine at first, because we thought how much more details could there possibly be? Little did we know that as we planned and organized our day and all the logistics, the document ended up to be 17 pages long! It literally was a minute by minute break down of our wedding day. We shared it with our family and friends and everyone knew exactly what was going on and when. The father of the bride was so impressed with Janice's professionalism. Our wedding day was a great success and everything went off without a hitch, at least that is how we saw things. If anything did go awry or a miss, we didn't know about it and that was because Janice was on top of everything! She made sure everything and everyone was where they were supposed to be and that our day was flawless. We had many friends come up to us during the reception asking for Janice's contact info, they were all equally amazed by the wonderful work she does. Without Janice, we would not have been able to enjoy our wedding and just be present in the moment. Even after the wedding, Janice sent a friendly email reminding us of things we should take care of, like sending in the marriage certificate and little details on the gifts and cards that people had given us on the day. We live in NY but wed in San Francisco and both of us worked way too much to plan a destination wedding, so she definitely didn't have an easy task. I researched and contacted a ton of planners, but ultimately hired Janice because she was the only one that consistently responded right away, was really friendly, and had a background in corporate event planning in NY. I figured - if she responds right away, she'll be on top of things, and if she can handle NYC corporate events, she can pretty much handle anything. Janice definitely didn't disappoint and was AMAAAZING! Her minute by minute timeline is enough to hire her on the spot. Our vendors and wedding party were really impressed. If there were any hiccups during our wedding, I had no idea about them because she handled everything with grace and kept us both super relaxed throughout the day. Our family and friends also LOVED her and thought she was the best wedding coordinator they've ever seen and have been recommending her left and right. Even though we hired her for day-of planning, it's not really day-of because she ended up doing super detailed planning at least 2 months out with all of our vendors.
