Dr. Jacobson is a very thorough and careful doctor who has demonstrated to me that he is worthy of my time and money. His staff are charming and pleasant and his office is located conveniently in the medical office building at 1405 19th street. My appointment began pretty much as soon as I got to the office. I was quite pleased to hear that, for my case, the "air hits the eye" test was not something that they used in place of better technology. The session took a little time, as these kinds of check ups often do, but I walked out with a prescription for some better glasses, a reaffirmation of my healthfulness and only a mild post-office, eye dilation! thanks again! I will be going back for my regular checkups!

Tl/Dr: this is a PSA for the parking situation at this location…read more 5 stars for Dr. Lobaugh. -10000 stars for the location and parking garage. I was just getting comfortable riding the high of all green lights and zero traffic when I had the misfortune of entering the garage at 1700 N Moore. At first, it just looks like a normal garage. But as you ascend higher levels looking for parking you realize that's there are only like 10 parking spots per floor. Also notable is the fact that there were no elevators ... so I guess if you're disabled... better luck next time? I think I made it 3 or 4 floors before I decided to turn around (easier said than done because one lane for 2 way traffic) and find parking elsewhere. Luckily, I only encountered one other car coming while I was attempting going. I was going to make my way to the garage across the street but (surprise) the entrance on N Moore is employee only so take the entrance on N Lynn. So... 2 loops later, I made it into garage #2. Parking spaces were labeled weirdly, so I'm not even sure I parked in an allowed spot, but my car was still there after my appointment so there's that. I checked in w the security person at 1700 N Moore about the elevator situation and she said that the elevator was only available at certain floors of the garage. So ........ yeah. Also- Dr. Lobaugh is amazing. I followed her to NOVA optometry from her last practice in Arlington. Couldn't recommend a physician more. She's one of those people who just makes you feel like she gives a duck about you and whatever issue you're having. That's hard to find. She's basically the only person I'd ever come back to this god forsaken location for.

In some ways, viewing a master of craft is like an exquisite wine or cheese to be savored. Warm, comfortable, and confidently putting concerns to rest. What was previously a battery of tests and experiments trying to diagnose "glaucoma" in a teenager was swiftly and adequately dispatched by accurately reading my mind and assuaging my concern from the moment the peeper was peeped. I've had nothing but a pleasant time with both the staff, Dr. Weiss, and the office in general. If you're in Rosslyn (or even want to drive in) it's a rare air were breathing! I have no issues with the quality of the examination or my in-person interactions with Dr. Glasser…read more(several appointments over many years). My issue is the way I was treated on my last visit by his assistant after it became apparent to her that I would not be buying frames or lenses from the practice. Her attitude immediately changed when I asked for a prescription. She stood up, went to ring up my copayment, and when she returned with the prescription she remained standing and was abrupt with me when I asked her to explain the change in my prescription, which was in a format I was not familiar with based on what I received in prior visits. I'm an educated person who wants to know how things work and what numbers actually mean, not merely to be told that "any qualified optician will understand" the prescription. I was made to feel stupid and like I was an imposition so I left and fed the prescription into ChatGPT which politely explained it to me, including how a progressive prescription can be translated into single vision distance and reading prescriptions, and what the numbers mean. AI was more polite and patient with me than the assistant. Despite having no issues with the doctor himself, I will not be returning to this practice in the future. The barriers between patients and medical information are evaporating due to AI. Doctors would be well advised to ensure that they and their staffs at least match the courtesy of ChatGPT. Update: In response to Dr. Glasser's comment, all I can say is that it would have taken his assistant less than a minute to sit down and politely explain to me the meaning of the numbers. Regardless of whether I'm dealing with an optometrist or a cardiologist, I take it upon myself to gain a thorough understanding of my heath, which is what ChatGPT provided and the assistant did not. If the doctor doesn't want to take constructive feedback on such a simple point, then I suppose that my decision to go elsewhere is the right one.
