Stopped into Lush after catching a movie nearby. I used to shop at Lush all the time years ago but drifted away. The products that I used would get too messy and some of the strong scents got to me. I took my time browsing, bypassing the stronger scents. Literally smelling my way through the samples until I landed on one called Sticky Dates. The name grabbed my attention because I eat dates regularly. Love the way the lotion sank into my skin without leaving a greasy residue. The softness and glow is something I look for in a lotion especially during summer. I had never heard of Lush until recently when my book club did a gift exchange and one of the gifts was a bath bomb from Lush. I was curious to find out more, especially when I found out that Baybrook has a store. It's right across from Bath and Body, and yet I somehow never noticed it. Like everyone else said, this store is TINY. I had a large purse with me and I kept bumping into people because it's so small and the aisles are narrow. Plus with it being close to Christmas, it's busier right now. I went in the middle of the week thinking it wouldn't be too crowded, but I was mistaken. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well, so I didn't stay long, but I did buy some white elephant gifts for upcoming holiday parties. The staff is friendly, but it can be hard to track down an employee because they're so busy helping other customers. I finally grabbed the attention of an employee. I told her what I was looking for (gifts in the $20 range) and she showed me a variety of products. I ended up getting some bath bomb sets that are wrapped in cute bandannas shaped like different animals. My sinuses unfortunately were going crazy so all of the scents in the store were making my head hurt worse. Some of the scents were so light, I couldn't even tell what scent they were supposed to be. Others were so strong, it just made my head hurt worse. The bath bombs I bought have stayed in the bag (which I placed inside a separate plastic bag) because the scent is so strong and is not helping my sinus headaches that I've had lately. However, I hope to be able to go back to try some of the products for myself once my allergies calm down. When I was checking out, I tried a sample of one of the lotions. It was very soft and smelled good, but again, the scent was very strong and took some time to settle down. I did receive a catalog and have been browsing through it, but of course the scent from the bath bombs transferred on it so it's now wrapped up in the plastic bag with the bath bombs lol. Hopefully I'll be able to try the products soon and not have to worry about my allergies! I love lush, but I wanted to return the superbalm hair treatment because it didn't work for me...then, The staff just didn't like me after I told them, so I decided to do an exchange instead. So I was looking around Cuz it was my 2nd time to lush not knowing exactly what I want because the treatment was $20. So I got the space girl bath bomb and the comforter bubble bar which means I had like 4$ left and I asked a sales associate for some help with the soaps bc I wanted to try one she was cutting me a honey I washed the kids soap so I was waiting for it to be cut and then I was doing my exchange they didn't give me the sample but not only that they were giving out catalogs for Easter and they wouldn't give me that either!! I received a bath bomb as a gift in February. I never have time to take a relaxing bath due to a very active 5 year old that will not allow me to enjoy it on my own. So the bath bomb had been in the same bag it was given to me until last week. I finally found time to take a hot bath. I dropped the marshmallow bomb (no longer for sale) and soaked in the tub. The bath bomb was not even half way melted when I felt such a silky feeling on my skin. I was in love with the product. The next day I had to go to Lush to buy more. That's when I found out they no longer sell that bath bomb and has been reformulated. I purchased other bombs but have not tried them. I am sure they are all great. I also purchased the Angels on Bare Skin face scrub. It is amazing. Let me tell you all what happened when I used that product. I have been a faithful Oil of Olay face wash and lotion user for about 20 years. I would follow that with Neutragena alcohol free toner. Not anymore after trying Angels on Bare Skin. I used it for the first time at night. My face felt so soft and full of moisturizer that I did not do anything else to it. The next morning I used my regular face wash and toner. I immediately felt tightness and dryness I my face. I applied my regular moisturizer but the feeling did not improve. It was very unpleasant. I threw all those products away and went back to Lush. I bought Ultrabland and the Eau Roma face toner. I love it!!!! My face is glowing and looks very clean. It also feels soft. I have since then returned and bough the aluminum free deodorant, foot scrubs, and foot powder as gifts for my husband. He has not had any foul odor and his t shirts are still white. read more

I normally love Lush, but I was disappointed with the pushiness of the sales people at this location. I wanted just a hand cream, and decided to purchase one after a lengthy product demonstration. When I informed the woman I wanted to buy the one product, she brought out the two she used and looked upset when I told her I just wanted the one. She was even more upset when I mentioned I wanted the smaller size. On my way to the counter the sales woman directed me to the bath products, the dry shampoo and even when I said "no thanks, just the hand cream" she still pushed for me to purchase a lip balm at checkout! I understand sales, and I know that is their job, but knowing when to stop is also part of their job. The employee at this location crossed the line from helpful to putting on unnecessary pressure, which made me quite uncomfortable. I will not be returning. read more

Clean store, though tiny as heck - as all Lush stores tend to be. Very crowded when busy. This location has friendly, personable, and knowledgeable staff. However, I felt like the "push to sell" was a bit too intense during today's visit. I agreed to a fairly lengthy demo, which I enjoyed but also wanted to cut in half in terms of time commitment because I had a child with me. I also felt as though the staff person was disappointed when I asked for a sample of a product instead of agreeing to purchase the 6 different things she showed me. I did purchase 4 things - 2 of which she demoed on me. I always love my purchases and can't wait to return for more! Overall, I love Lush! It's not the biggest Lush store I've been to, but it is enough. The bath products are great, but be sure to try some of their facial products and their creams. I love their solid perfumes, too! I'm so glad they started making those. Of course their soap is amazing. Not only are these great vegan, natural products, the scent of their products is unique and exceptional. This review is in comparison to other LUSH's. So the difference between this LUSH and all the other LUSHES in Houston is that this is the only one that is a stand-alone store. It is not connected to a Macys like all the other ones in Houston. The staff here is really friendly and on my most recent visit, I had brought along a $75 gift card. I didn't know what I wanted to buy but the staff was nice enough to make suggestions. In the end, I opted for a huge range of soaps. The staff warned me about what soaps I should get because some of them were limited edition (Christmas) and they wanted me to not miss out. SO THOUGHTFUL! The staff also knew I wanted to spend just the $75 on the gift card and no more after that. They did not push me to buy more products once I reached my $75 and even though one of the soaps caused me to be only $3 over, the girl working actually offered if she could cut off a few ounces to dock the extra $3. THAT IS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE RIGHT THERE!!! I declined but her giving me that option and remembering my needs/wants makes me respect that specific LUSH store even more. Staff was rude when I last went in, acted as if they did not want customers at all. I was holding a glass perfume bottle (overly priced at $100) when an employee came up frantically behind me insisting to get in the cabinet I was standing in front of. I first heard of LUSH's handmade soaps and beauty products from my vegan girlfriend in NYC, who showed me all her delish LUSH products when I visited her back in 2002. I can understand how these expensive yet sensually delightful soaps & face masks & bath bombs can really change your tiny NY apartment (she assured me it was HUGE by NY standards) into a candy scented haven of glitter & feminine fluff and silky smooth-ittude. Several years went by before I happened upon the LUSH store in Baybrook Mall and I'm torn between "Why did I wait so long to seek this place out?" and "Why must you tempt me with your fresh & natural & EFFECTIVE products as you empty my pockets like a skilled gypsy at a belly dancing show while I gaze slack jawed at your sparkling beauty, thinking that I too can possess you and..." I digress. LUSH is an attack on the olfactory within 50 ft of the store's entrance, so don't expect any men to accompany you into LUSH. This may work to your advantage if you are married or otherwise share a bank account and the man isn't there to look at the prices as you load up on soaps sold by the pound. Each item has a date of creation (made in NYC) and all products are available for you to sample, which is a huge plus if you have a particular scent or texture in mind. They have fresh facial masks stored in a tiny fridge, I suggest the very slimy & garlicky Cosmetic Warrior as if effectiveness outweighs its repulsiveness. The chocolate mask is also fabulous and looks like someone frosted your face. These masks have a "use by" date but are generally still effective for weeks afterward, plus you can save up 5 empty tubs and get one mask free, a value of at least $6. Most of the soaps are about $5/lb but are incredibly effective if you're looking for problem skin cleansers, such as the black soap which works wonders on my shoulders and back and is great for my teen & preteen daughters faces. I also suggest the Herbalist scrub, really keeps pores under control, and the Porridge bar soap is *heavenly*. The sugar scrubs are very rough and melt away like crazy so I stopped buying them. Beware that you will become addicted to particular products only to find that you can't order them online or that they might be discontinued at some point. The staff is always polite and helpful and tactful enough to never suggest an "acne product" for my teens (or myself). When I am immediately offered an acne product without asking the salesperson's opinion, it really ****es me off as that's so rude and unprofessional. I expect that sort of treatment from the kiosks hawking their "miracle skin products" as we pass by, but not from a boutique store. The gals at LUSH know their products and will ask another employee if they aren't sure, which is awesome because who really knows about every freaking product in a store of a zillion items? Each purchase is wrapped up and samples are often included, especially at the holiday season. For the love of puppies, please treat someone to LUSH. They have products for gals of every age and even for dudes, though I haven't bothered to try any of those as my (now ex) husband preferred Dial soap. Maybe I should have bought him LUSH dude products? Hrmmm.... Go to LUSH. Today. Treat yourself. Get a friend hooked. Develop your own love/hate relationship, hear that siren song, weep along with me when you scoop out that last finger full of Cosmetic Warrior mask or realize that SOMEONE left that $10/lb bar of black soap on the shower floor and it's now just a gelatinous glob... It's eye catching and full of products to see, smell and even though they may look and smell scrumptious, you do not want to taste them. But do play with the samples and enjoy the many relaxing and refreshing scents. Lush has a variety of products for your every skin care need. I like the foot scrubs and creams. The scrubs smooth your feet and leave them feeling happy while the creams and lotions keep them smooth and soft. This is especially relaxing after a week of intense workouts or a long day of walking in a park. Hands should not be neglected and Lush has some amazing hand creams. Hands are moisturized and softened without any lingering greasy feel or residue that leaves greasy prints on your tech gadgets or anything else you touch. All in the name of keeping clean, Lush has some great soaps that are vegan and natural. They don't over strip the skin of its own natural oils and leave no soapy film. The body lotions and creams are nicely fragranced and do the right job of softening and silkening your skin. Since there are samples of products all around the store, you can see what is in them as well as the texture. Maybe you need a heavier cream or a lighter lotion. Seeing and feeling the texture and absorption Is a huge plus in helping you choose the correct formulation as well as item. The bath products are quality and natural just like the soaps. I've not tried any facial care items because I'm quite loyal to the brand I buy, but they are tempting and I may yet try them just to see. I do know from the ingredients that they, too, are made with specific, quality and good-for-your-skin ingredients. The associates were very helpful and friendly without being pushy. We browsed, sniffed, touched and read products to,our content without anyone trying to push a sale. Any and all questions we had were answered in a knowledgable way. The store is chock full of quality, natural, heavenly smelling and good for you products. It's a fun place for me to come look around and enjoy the products. I recently was gifted my favorite cleanser of ALL TIME, "Let the Good Times Roll" for Christmas. I have been using this specific cleanser for the last 3 years. However, after I used it, something was not right. This cleanser does NOT have a rough texture, as no cleanser should. So I used it for the 2nd time & realized that it was to rough, it almost felt as a facial scrub which I was not okay with. I thought, they probably changed the ingredients and I will have to find a new cleanser, (FML), literally. I went ahead & called this Lush Cosmetics location and spoke with Ariah to explain my issue. Ariah stated that she was not made aware of any changes to this specific cleanser so I thought it MUST be a bad batch. Two days later I stopped by & met with Ariah. I began explaining my issue to the representative and Ariah stated, I spoke with you a a couple of days ago & I said you did. They were obviously understaffed and what I assume was the MOD sat in the office on her cell phone talking to a friend while the other SA went around making samples for the "lookie lous". The first time I seen Lush it was so packed that I could not look at everything I wanted because of all the people, so I would definitely recommend going at a time when its not packed. The second time I went in, Madeline was there to help me. I wasn't sure what I wanted and was just looking around and smelling everything (because cmon, it smells SO delicious in there). She started telling me about the different shampoos they have and even did a demo with the BIG sea salt shampoo and a conditioning bar for my thin hair. I absolutely loved the way my skin felt after but was nervous to agree to the $28 price on shampoo without trying it first. She quickly got me a sample and a catalog and showed me a quick demo on their new fluoride-free tooth tablets and tooth powders. I thought the idea was brilliant, and that I could use them on my toddlers (who are still learning how to brush their teeth). I just used the shampoo sample tonight and I'm HOOKED!! It makes your hair feel amazing..and the smell is just heavenly. I will definitely be back to purchase the BIG sea salt shampoo, conditioning bar, and probably a bunch of other things!
