How lucky that Orlando has so many home grown artists that still choose to set up shop in town! Located next door to Dear Prudence, the art is fun and colorful (his dog prints are his most popular) and featured on art prints, greeting cards, tote/cosmetic bags, candles, luggage tags, etc! The artist himself , Nick Hanzlik, happened to be there when I stopped in. I picked up a few art prints and cards that were on sale and an Orlando print I spotted. I chatted with him a bit and he mentioned that he also has 2 pop ups in NYC! I didn't even ask but he offered to sign both of the prints I purchased so that was a bonus. I'll definitely keep this place in mind for fun gift ideas and you should too!

Story Room Collective itself is wonderful.... Books are carefully curated, not overwhelming, and the owner, Estefania was quite friendly and personable. The stationary items interspersed with the bookish items are all pretty great too!! I greatly enjoyed looking around and browsing.... Found one book I'm excited to read (it's a sequel to another Indie published book I've already read and I was excited to find the sequel!) and some fun bookish items. One star knocked off for the absolutely awful experience I had with one of the Goblin Studios workers outside..... parking was being charged for the evening soccer game and when I said I wasn't paying, wasn't going to the game, and tried to go inside again, he started yelling at me, and stood in front of my car attempting to demand payment when I tried to leave. Another car showed up and he went to charge THEM for the game (they were in Orlando City gear...) I went around him and left. I'll be back when the soccer season is over, maybe, for Story Room and the other businesses, but this really put me off trying to visit again soon.

I've popped in here a few times, most recently to collect a stamp for the central Florida book passport. Though a quaint size, they have great book selections, blind dates with a book and great merchandise! Service is always very friendly and even the customers that are in there are friendly and conversational because we are fueled by a love of books! They also host events that I haven't been able to make it to but would like to in the future. I signed up for their mailing list to find out when there will be an event I can attend. I love that this is a spot where you can pop in grab a book, then go to the cafe and get a coffee followed by sitting down and reading for a bit should you choose. Will definitely be back!

I look forward to getting the mail when it's not just bills and junk. Seeing my name written on the envelope just gets me excited for what is inside. These are hand-painted watercolor greeting cards and some other goodies. Disclaimer Elizabeth, who runs BLP, is a good friend of mine but I have been buying and giving her cards that make people smile for the past 2 years. Where you can get her products locally: - East End Market at Local Roots in Audubon Park - Gallery on the Edge in College Park - Peterbrooke Chocolate in Winter Park I also purchased one of her recipe boxes for my cousin for Christmas and she adored it. I filled out two of the recipe cards with family recipes and boom, perfect gift! I kinda want one now for myself. She does custom work too for everything from personal requests for your home to wedding invitations! I personally hired her with Andi P. to create some local Orlando cards for some local outreach and they turned out awesome! Just gave her my vision for what we were looking for and she drafted some mocks and we gave her feedback and then, boom, awesome Orlando cards. So fun! Check out her stuff when you are shopping locally or follow her online!

Elizabeth has greeting cards for most every occasion or you can reach out to her if you have something in mind or want a custom design for a special event. She designed wedding invites for some good friends of mine and I just loved the detail and that she tailored to the couples liking. More recently, she has designed more "Orlandocentric" cards featuring many of the great neighborhoods around Orlando and I was even blown away by her generosity recently when she donated her profits from sales of specific cards to the Pulse Orlando fund. If you're looking to support a local artist and give one of a kind, unique cards to friends-- check Bright LIght Paper out on Etsy. Her cards are also sold at some local stores around Orlando -- I have seen them featured at Local Roots at East End Market. Best to contact her for a list of places. She posts a ton on her Instagram page too!
