The staff is always so helpful and attentive in looking for options, supplying sizes, etc. Prices are 'boutique on Newbury Street' prices ($100-$200+) so maybe better for a splurge / treat yourself kind of purchase. This is the sister store to Liptstick (see my other review) and almost across the street from Lipstick on Newbury Street. This store is fairly new and sells women's wear that's more dressy, higher quality and higher priced than Lipstick. The clothes here are beautiful with some being a bit more daring and unique. Great place to find a great party dress for an event or splurge on a really nice dress just 'cause. The price range for most of the dresses averaged around $120 but honestly, the qualify of the fabric is commensurate with the price. The dresses I bought were lined and had a good weight to them. Most were also European brands and like the sister store, the sizes do run a tad smaller and there isn't much for larger sizes. This boutique is more spacious and decorated like a proper boutique. Staff interchange between Lipstick and Lure so you get the same wonderful and knowledgable staff at both stores. I loved this place and will definitely come back!!! read more

I was panicking this morning because I procrastinated buying my dress for a wedding I was attending but the girl in the store was super nice and helped me pick out a beautiful dress AND accessories. They have a really beautiful and unique collection but I will say that some of the sizes run a little small so I had to go a size up. I wandered into Lure in early July of 2014, before they had a yelp profile. I had been frantically searching for a dress to wear to a wedding with my boyfriend's intrinsically stylish family. After stopping in a host of other stores along Newbury Street, ones that I was familiar with and had high hopes for, I was still without the dress--until I found Lure. I walked in and was immediately impressed by their selection. They had dresses in every length, fabric, color, and cut I could want. The young woman who was working set me up with a dressing room and, without being pushy, offered to help me find whatever I needed. Once I had narrowed down my choices she helped me accessorize and offered honest feedback whenever I asked. The navy chiffon dress with a chunky, textured hem combined with the gold/ivory belt I purchased at Lure have made it through two weddings so far. I receive compliments on the dress when I am wearing it and even from friends going through my closet looking for something to borrow. I am definitely going back here next time I have an semi/formal event to attend, and I highly recommend that others do the same. read more

What a wonderful find! Fantastic selection of dresses. Price range $125-$250. I bought 4 dresses and one pantsuit. The sales associate and manager were extremely friendly and helpful. I spent about 1 1/4 hours here. Not a moment that I didn't get help finding different size, certain dress manager thought would look good on me and feedback on how dresses looked on me. So much fun. The staff in the store were very rude and unsettling. My friend and I went in and as my friend was changing in the changing room the sales woman was watching her change through the very sheer curtain the entire time, even though I was standing right there. She continually pressuring her to get her to come out of the dressing room. The staff member also approached me while putting a dress back to the rack, and made me move to switch it. The rest of the dresses were facing all different ways. Will definitely not be going back! read more

Fabulous selection. There is something for everyone and every age. Long and short, dressy and casual, sleeveless and long sleeves, sexy and demure are all available at Lure. After looking in several department stores and private shops, I finally found the dress for me. Abundant compliments followed at the affair where I wore it. The young lady who helped me was so kind. Instead of a bag, I asked for a hanger. Though she wasn't sure if her manager would let her give me a wooden hanger and couldn't get in touch with the manager to ask, she did so anyway. I cannot recommend this store and their sister store across the street enough. The manager is so lucky to have a salesperson who meets the needs of a shopper to close the sale. read more

The staff at this boutique are extremely rude and disrespectful. My friend and I were browsing the store, and my friend noticed a dress she liked and commented on how pretty it was. Immediately, the sales associate informed us that all the dresses in that section were between $200 and $300, in a tone heavily implying that we were not welcome there and that she believed we could not afford their merchandise. After observing her help another customer and encourage her to feel at home in the boutique, it was jarring to be so blatantly disrespected. Needless to say, we will never be returning and will not be recommending this boutique to anyone. read more

Really cute dresses from brands I haven't seen at other places, running mostly $70 and up. The perfect spot to find dresses for more formal occasions, and the workers are very attentive and helpful in showing you styles you might not have otherwise tried yourself. read more

This is my go to place when I need a dress. I found this place a couple years ago and now have several dresses in my closet and they are all gorgeous. I have bought for NYE, weddings, and even just a more casual piece for being out and about in Martha's Vineyard. It is a very pretty boutique, tons of colours and styles. Most of my dresses have been $100-120 which is pretty decent. My most expensive piece was $278. But most importantly, this place has AMAZING staff. It is like shopping with your best friend/ personal stylist. I have tried on and experimented with different styles because of them. They really tune into your style, taste and body type, and will give you actual, honest feedback (if you're looking for it). Like last year for my birthday I really wanted this super cute black tutu dress. I just wanted a tutu (No idea what got into me). But then they brought me this stunning green bondage dress to try on that admittedly was out of this world and didn't hold a candle to the tutu. Still, I clung to the tutu like my life depended on it. After I could not make my mind up/ they couldn't convince me on their own, we rallied other shoppers in the store for their opinions. It was unanimous. Lets just say, even though I still think about the tutu every now and then, I am so happy I was talked into the green stunner. It really was the better dress and very much "me" and "the one". I ended up meeting my now boyfriend in the green dress and ultimately found another "the one" that night ;). All in all, I always have a blast shopping here, and never leave empty handed. This place is top notch! read more

I had an awful experience shopping at Lure. As browsing the selection with a friend, a dress caught my eye--when I picked it up the sales associate on duty immediately informed me of the price (about $275) in a tone that insinuated that "I was too poor to be shopping there." I am extremely offended, and though the dresses were beautiful I will never be spending a penny at an establishment that profiles their customers and insults them in front of other shoppers. If you aren't already wearing a $300 dress while you shop there, don't expect decent service. read more

Just bought my third dress from Lure. Every piece I've bought here is unique and excellent quality. Prices are decent for a boutique ($80 - low 200's). Their sister store lipstick is just as amazing. Very feminine styles and find something every time I visit. Staff is always helpful and sweet. Now when ever I visit Boston I visit Lure and lipstick and always come home with something fabulous! read more

I never write reviews but had such an unpleasant experience I felt motivated to do so. I bought several dresses at lure and returned one of them, receiving a store credit. Several months passed and I decided to stop back to see if they had something I wanted to spend the credit on. I found a dress I liked and gave the credit to the saleswoman. She looked through her register and couldn't find the credit number written down. She accused me of having possibly stolen the credit (!!) which is completely insane and not a way to treat anyone, let alone a customer that spent a large amount of money at your store. I've never been treated so rudely in a store in my life and I will certainly never go back. read more

Awful place.Sold me on a dress that smelled like sweat. I had a special occasion and was in a rush. Thought that I would rinse a dress and wear it. Unfortunately, because I didn't have time , I couldn't wear it. Had to return it. The lady lied to me that they have 14 day return policy and after a short argument I asked which days she doesn't work here, because I didn't want to go through frustration of talking to her again. After what she threatened not to give me a store credit and call police. Are you kidding me? Selling me stinky dress and calling police on me after I raised my concern regarding her lying on store's policy? The store is the one who needs to be sued and closed. Have to come back to redeem the store credit, after all it's $127. I would consider it as a shame to give it to smb as a gift card, because this store shouldn't even be in business. Be careful and don't ever go there. There are plenty of places on Newbury that sell beautiful dresses that don't smell like sweat. read more

Today I was looking around this store when I accidentally overheard a conversation between what seemed to be the Boss of this establishment and her worker. I was completely appalled, disgusted and enthralled by this and had to do something to bring this situation to light. The woman told her worker that her hairstyle was unprofessional because she had an afro and that her hair should be straighter and shorter. I will never ever come back to this store. The girl, who had to be in her 20s looked shocked but remained composed when responding "black hair looks like this so i don't know what you want me to do". I will never support this store or it's owner ever again. This mindset should be unacceptable, this just isn't right. read more

I love this boutique! It has an incredible, ever-changing selection of dresses and accessories. They have bandage dresses that accentuate your best curves, I love the collection they have there. The girls are always helpful and give you an honest opinion. Their earrings are beautiful and fairly priced. I would absolutely recommend this shop to my friends for party dresses! read more

NEVER SHOP HERE I bought a dress and 20 MINUTES later went to return the dress and they would only give me store credit. I told the woman that I live out of state and I would never be able to come back, and she would still only let me get store credit, I had barely even owned the dress for a minute!
