I loved the ambiance of this place! I think it's great to any size and type of group/date. The food was delicious and decent portions too. Just be aware that the spicy dishes can be very spicy! Like the mapo tofu. It was good to get a good balance of spicy and non-spicy dishes. I especially loved the shrimp (although a little annoying to eat), dandan noodles, and the cauliflower. The Szechuan chicken was also delicious but you really had to dig around for the pieces. The table's favorite was the crispy glutinous rice balls that had black sesame filling on the inside! It is a must to have at the end of the meal despite it being one of the chef's specials. The service was also ok but they only allowed 75 minutes for the table. I've heard that out of all the different Chinese foods in NYC, Szechuan is the best. After this experience, I can agree. I normally don't lean toward Szechuan as I'm weak with spice, but this experience has left a good impression. The portions were huge. I think getting two dishes for four people would've been enough. The two meat dishes we got were very similar. When we got the leftovers packaged to go, they packaged the chili oil as well. It can be useful if you plan to use that to cook with. The chili oil base didn't have too much differentiation, so it might have been wiser if we opted for one wet and one dry dish. Sole boiled fish in chili oil was really good. The fish was tender and so smooth. There were a lot of bean sprouts too. My favorite was the sautéed triple with spicy peppercorn and sour just because I love meat more. The flavors were similar and so were the accompanied vegetables. Stir-fry cabbage had a good amount of spice and wok air. Make sure to get rice. There is no way to eat these dishes without it. All of the dishes were spicy. Even after asking for the least amount of spice, the heat was very prominent. However, they were all very good. Beautiful venue with beautiful food. For authentic chinese food this place can't be beat. The location is really central and close to a lot in midtown. Inside, the venue is intimate and the lighting is chic. The decor feels upscale with the vibes of China. Most of the dishes I felt were spicy on the menu but I was perfectly okay with that. The waiters gave good recommendations on dishes to try and we were happy with our food choices. To start we had their eggplant which was marinated well and their noodles which were a cold take on dan dan noodles. The entrees were flavored well and weren't crazy greasy. Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for the food going in, but every dish was so good. Also, it's Szechuan food so it's meant to be spicy, but the spice was tolerable! Mapo tofu and Dan Dan noodles were both highlights of our meals - and the dessert is a must try, especially the ice cream. Came here on a dinner date with my gf. Saw this new Chinese restaurant open up which caught my attention. Their differentiation from the rest is that they specialize in Jianghu cuisine, which originates from the Chongqing province. If you don't know where that is, it borders Sichuan province. If you don't get that reference, they're known for spicy food. We ordered the following and we had leftovers to take with us, so don't order this much for just two people, although everything was great. Pork Soup Dumpling (5 pcs) ($10) - These were pretty good. Good size and nice and soupy. Skin does not break easily. Boiled Fish w Chili Oil ($29) - We did the cheaper fish, which they used tilapia. The sea bass would have been $45. Regardless, this was about medium spicy. Have a bowl of rice would be a nice complement to this as it's drenched in chili oil. Mapo Tofu ($16) - Pretty common spicy dish, but they prepared this dish very well. Tofu is on the firm side, so it won't fall apart on you easily. Goes nicely with rice. Pea Shoot w Garlic ($18) - This is my go to veggie dish at Chinese restaurants. No complaints. Crispy Glutinous Rice Balls ($26) - These were pretty popular and are filled with black sesame paste. Nice glutinous texture and sweet black sesame taste when you bite into it. Don't recommend trying to bring these home as leftovers and would finish them. They were disappointingly soggy and greasy when saved for leftovers. Crispy Sesame Balls (3 pcs) ($8) - These were filled with red bean paste and come out nice and hot. New spot! The mapo tofu was a winner, numbing and sizzling. The dan dan noodles were on the sesame-ier side, which is fine, we enjoyed them, but would've preferred them to be numbing too. The fatty beef sour soup was perfectly sour and the beef super soft. The chili oil tripe was also delicious. The dish I would skip next time would be the crab tofu. Placed an order via Uber Eats around 7:20ish, was given an estimated delivery time of around 8, latest delivery 8:55, ok cool. Delivery guy arrived around 7:54 and told me he was waiting on the food. He then messaged me again around 8:10, then 8:30, the restaurant kept telling him to wait 10 mins, then 5 mins, the time kept getting pushed back, 9pm rolls around, the delivery guy is still there waiting, I felt so bad because he lost an entire hour waiting for food that who knows would have been ready. I wish they would have been more upfront with the delivery guy so I could relay it to Uber, I just don't think had I been there in person, I would have had to wait over an hour for food.
