When I called back to ask someone about my order, the manager Tim was not very customer friendly and would not accommodate me in anyway and hang up on me. I'm not exaggerating when I say I spend more money at Luna Grill than at the grocery store! Originally I always ordered the flat cut chicken kabob plate with an extra protein (an 1 flat cut chicken kabob ), plus a side of pita with spicy hummus (green - please bring it back). The portions are large enough that this would be enough for 2 dinners. One day I decided to try something new and tried the santorini bowl with chicken. OH MY GAWD - AMAZING!! I'm not willing to give up the kabob so now I have no choice but to add two chicken santorini bowls to my regular order. The bowls are an explosion of flavors and I've yet to eat a whole one in a single sitting! Luna Grill did stop offering my favorite spicy hummus. It was a light green and I think it had cilantro in it. They replaced my fav with a harissa hummus. Not as great but still good. As much as I'm a fan of Luna Grill, I don't recommend the desserts. I've only tried the carrot cake cookie and it was fantastic! But - it was a single tiny cookie and I think it cost over $2.00. Sorry guys but that's kinda crazy, at least for my wallet. read more

I ordered a rather large delivery for a staff lunch (22 people) Because the Ventura Store was closed, my order was diverted to the Oxnard location. When the doordash driver arrived to pick up my order, he said he was there for "Dennis" instead of "Denise". What are the chances there was also an order for a Dennis and Denise? Needless to say, he was given the wrong order. Imagine my dismay when I unpacked the order and it was not the correct order and would barely feed half the people here. I called the Oxnard store and their fearless leader didn't skip a beat. She also had realized what had happened and Jumped in her car and delivered it herself all the way here in Ventura even though she was swamped with the mix up and also all the extra orders at their store because of the Ventura store unexpectedly being closed for the day. Tried this restaurant for the first time this past Friday. It was not very busy due to the opening of Los Agave next door. Restaurant was clean and very well decorated . The staff was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the gyro with a side salad, and my husband ordered the El Greco. We also got the spicy hummus and a beer to start. The hummus was very flavorful and the pita bread it was served with was fresh and warm. My gryo had plenty of meat, but unfortunately was very dry. I used the Tzatziki sauce for my salad on my gryo and took the salad home. My husband enjoyed the El Greco which I thought was a great idea for someone who enjoys fries. I tried it too and it was good. It was basically fries topped with shaved meat, tomatoes and feta with a side sauce. Good experience. Worth a try if you like Mediterranean food. read more

The food was delicious, however I noticed that the bowl was not as full as it usually is. I've never been able to eat an entire bowl, and this time I was able to. I also had some loaded fries and they was very little of the garlic feta sauce. By the time I was half way finished with the fries, there was no sauce on the fries. It seems that they are cutting back on ingredients. Possibly to save money. The woman that took our order, made an error. We ordered a shrimp plate, but she gave us a salmon plate. The food runner was very nice and got the shrimp pretty quickly. The restaurant is nice, but I noticed that they did not come and clean tables quickly. I cleaned my own table, although it was empty when I walked in. There was at least 6-7 minutes between the time I walked in and I actually went and sat at a table. Note: more 3.5 stars Came for a late dinner and had the chicken kabob dinner plate with grilled tomato. The plate itself comes with a mix of plain and flavored basmati rice, house salad, three pieces of pita, cucumber-yogurt dip, and five pieces of boneless chicken kabob. Presentation-wise, the plate looks very nice. Everything is proportional to each other and appealing to look at. The biggest offsetting thing on the plate when I ordered it was the grilled tomato. It looked like it was charred instead of grilled. The skin side of the tomato was completely black and it didn't look like the cut side was grilled at all. I believe the tomato was 'grilled' as a whole and then cut in half (stem to stem side) - wasn't expecting that kind of grilled tomato. The rice itself was a bit oily, but that's fine. The basmati rice's flavor was nice and although my friend said it tasted weird, I thought it tasted normal. The house salad was properly drained (not wet) and a nice amount of dressing was placed. The pita aren't exactly fresh, but the cucumber-yogurt dip saves it. Lastly, the chicken kabob. I've had it once before at a different location and the chicken there was dry. Luckily, this place's chicken was not and was pretty succulent. However, I didn't think it tasted like much. Tastes like chicken and it was succulent, but lacked an oomph for flavor to me. Perhaps a little bit more salt, spices, and lemon juice to zest it up? Overall, wouldn't mind coming back to try the chicken kabob or another item again. Definitely prefer this location more than the last location I've been to. The ambiance is better and has a very nice feel to it. read more

We frequent Luna Grill when we are in town and have always had a terrific experience. The manager Laurie is outstanding and clearly knows how to run a restaurant and staff. I have to giggle when I see a review from someone claiming they have "20 years experience in customer service" and then proceed to say the overheard a conversation where she was rude and leaning on racist. Give me a break! Unless your crystal ball was shined and in your pocket , there is no way to "guess" or "assume" what a person is saying on the other end. Many people are rude and do not have phone etiquette (or any etiquette at all). I was curious that someone with "20 years customer service experience" would post a nice review of the restaurant and then proceed to personally tear down the manager with such assumptions and conclusions that can only be described as self-serving and without any basis in fact. Curiosity got the better of me since this review was so out of character for the manager Laurie, who we have come to know over the years at Luna Grill and many, many of our co-workers rave about her and the restaurant for years when visiting when in Oxnard, California. We have told them about it this place and every one who has visited shares our delight with it! So, I looked at the reviewers profile and sure enough, a common thread in shaming/schooling managers and staff about their customer service faults, yet providing not a single word of advice from such a wealth of "20 years customer service experience"! Anyone in the customer service field would have done just the opposite and would share their (20 year) knowledge and wisdom and would know that posting a personal attack reveals nothing more than their own lack of etiquette, knowledge and experience. I get upset at these type of reviews of any one person attacks simply because the reviews are for the restaurant as a whole and in this case, we have come to know Luna Grill's manager, Laurie and to insinuate rude behavior and belittle her over your own very rude eavesdropping of a one-sided conversation of which you have made assumptions and drawn conclusions (Note: you have used similar and identical wording in previous reviews of other businesses) and it gives one pause and I personally, would hope that when others reading reviews of Luna Grill, and of it's manager, Laurie, they will see very clearly the one who keeps saying they have "20 years experience in customer service" may be the one serving up the BS and ''nobody wants to hear' your self-serving regurgitations! The food here is great, I have no complaints about the food and I would keep ordering food from here. The problem is with how they handle delivery. I have ordered delivery with Luna Grill 3 times with doordash and every time I get my food, it never comes with a fork or napkins. How am I supposed to eat the rice without a fork? With my hands/fingers? And if I use my hands/fingers, how am I supposed to clean them if I have no napkins? Again, no issues with the food, just the way they handle delivery orders. read more

The rice alone is great, the salad looks dry on the plate, but the dressing is under it. Dressing is a house dressing, tastes like a balsamic/Italian dressing. It's great.
