There are great real estate agents, and then there are those rare individuals who fundamentally…read morechange what is possible for their clients. Janice Lee is one of those people. I genuinely believe that without her, we would still be searching for a home in San Francisco. When we decided to move to San Francisco, we were entering one of the country's most complex and competitive housing markets with very little knowledge of the neighborhoods, pricing strategies, or unique buying practices. We also needed to move quickly. After contacting several realtors, Janice immediately distinguished herself. She called us almost instantly and spent 40 minutes patiently explaining the market, answering our questions, and helping us understand our options. Before we had even met her, she had already demonstrated a level of expertise, generosity, and genuine care that we hadn't experienced elsewhere. What followed was nothing short of exceptional. Janice possesses an extraordinary combination of deep San Francisco real estate expertise, strategic judgment, relentless dedication, and genuine personal investment in her clients. When we traveled to San Francisco, she personally picked us up and spent extensive time showing us homes, explaining neighborhoods, and helping us understand what our budget could realistically afford. She listened intently, quickly understood our priorities and lifestyle, and developed an almost instinctive sense of which homes would be right for us. She didn't waste our time showing us houses that merely checked boxes. She helped us identify places where we could truly envision building a life. What sets Janice apart most is that she approaches buying a home with the same care and discernment you would want from someone making the decision for themselves. She wasn't focused on simply finding us a house or closing a transaction. She was determined to help us find a home we would love, feel proud to own, and know represented a sound financial decision. Her honesty was invaluable. She told us when a property was worth pursuing, when it wasn't, and why. Her extensive experience with renovations and remodeling allowed her to see beyond appearances, identify potential concerns and opportunities, and help us evaluate a home's true value. She respected our budget, never pressured us to compromise, and consistently prioritized our long-term interests over the immediate sale. We never questioned whose side she was on. Her responsiveness and attention to detail were equally remarkable. Janice was consistently several steps ahead, often having disclosures and property information ready before we even requested them. When we couldn't tour a home in person, she arranged video walkthroughs. When we needed financing guidance, she connected us with an exceptional mortgage lender. Her support team was wonderful, but Janice herself remained extraordinarily accessible and personally involved throughout the entire process. No matter when we reached out, she was almost always immediately available. She anticipated what we needed before we knew to ask. In a market like San Francisco, where timing, preparation, and sound judgment can determine whether you secure the right home, Janice's expertise is an extraordinary advantage. She didn't simply guide us through the process; she educated us, empowered us, and positioned us to make a strong, competitive offer with confidence. We never felt like we were navigating the market alone. Equally remarkable is the way Janice treats people. Regardless of budget, she makes you feel as though you are her most important client. Her patience, integrity, warmth, and unwavering commitment are rare. And unlike agents whose involvement ends at closing, Janice continues to be an invaluable resource, connecting us with trusted professionals for home improvements, repairs, and everything that comes with settling into a new home. The true measure of an exceptional realtor isn't simply whether they can help you buy a house. It's whether they help you make one of the most important decisions of your life with absolute confidence that your interests came first. Janice does exactly that. Looking back, I cannot imagine having gone through this experience with anyone else. Without Janice, I sincerely believe we'd still be searching, uncertain about our options and potentially compromising on what mattered most. Instead, we found a home we genuinely love, are proud to own, and feel confident was the right purchase for us. That difference is immeasurable. If you're searching for a San Francisco realtor or buyer's agent, Janice Lee is the person you want representing you. Her knowledge, integrity, judgment, and dedication set a standard that few professionals could match. She doesn't simply help people find homes. She helps them make decisions they'll feel good about for years to come. We are profoundly grateful to Janice, and recommending her is the easiest recommendation we could ever make.

After touring a rental unit and talking…read moreto the guy showing the place (Greg, Liz's assistant), I immediately applied online and paid an application fee. I was told the landlord was evaluating multiple applicants and to wait for the final result. I was eventually not selected. But instead of refunding me for my application fee, Liz simply told me that my materials were good for up to a month if there's another listing that I'd like to apply to. This was a violation of California law AB-2493, which states that the landlord must refund your application fee if you're not selected. After voicing this compliant, Jackie responded to me immediately and offered to help me get a refund on my application fee. I'm glad to know that there is indeed a process for rental applicants to get back their application fees if they're not selected. However, this overall experience has still left a nasty taste in my mouth. Honestly, this was the most difficult rental company I've had to deal with during my recent apartment search. I suggest Rentals in SF leasing agents provide applicants with clear guidance on the application fee refund process, if applicable. In general, the leasing agents can also do a better job of handling the overall application process because they left me waiting to hear back from the landlord and failed to provide insight into the decision process. This just gave me false hope that I was still getting considered.

This wasn't the first time I've moved up to SF but this time it's more permanent and I was expecting the ordeal of finding "the perfect place" to be much more stressful that it was. I am pleased to say that dealing with Allie was nothing but proffesional and easy. She was always very quick to respond; I was surprised to hear back nearly 20 minutes after my initial enquiry on the ad _after_ normal buissiness hours. She was very understanding that my banking was tied up in San Diego (my fault) and that I'd need some time to situate myself up here in SF. That was honestly a huge relief because I've dealt with landlords/realtors who will just move on to the next applicant if you can't have the cash in hand before the next guy. To be fair, I don't really have hard evidence that this wasn't the case but I sure didn't get the impression it was and didn't feel pressured to move faster. Important note: For the property that I'm now renting (woo!), Raskin only handled the deposit and prorated rent. That is, the property is otherwise managed by the landlord. I mention this because, and part of why I felt compelled to write this review, there seem to be a handful of reviews on here that aren't in line with my experience. Reading through them I get the impression that they're either A) very old or B) may have a similar arrangement to mine (wherein the landlord manages the property). I can't really speak to anything but my experience working with them, and I don't know if my suspicion is the case, but I do suggest you take some of the more disgruntled reviews with a grain of salt. It really looks like everything in the past 5 years has gone well for Raskin.

We have had a number of issues while living at a Raskin Real Estate Property since February 2009…read more The day we moved in and got our keys, they gave us the wrong keys so we had to wait for a locksmith to come and rekey the house. Then we noticed that none of the doors within the house worked properly so we had to wait another two weeks for those repairs. The water in the house upon moving in was rusty and the kitchen sink barely worked. These repairs were not made until May 2009 and involved city inspection and notices. Next, the kitchen light stopped working and again we had to wait for repairs and issue notices from the city. Recently, our outdoor lighting stopped working and a leak from the unit upstairs caused a whole in our shower ceiling. The plumber came out to fix the upstairs unit, however, no repairs were made to our house and it still leaks when their shower is running. There was also a graffiti incident which the owner was responsible for cleaning, but given the past issues with them, I decided to clean it myself. When I tried to hookup a hose to our outdoor facet, the hose would not run because the facet had been rusted out. The plumber and city inspection have come to review these repairs, but nothing has been done over the past several months. This company is run so poorly and disorganized that I am at my breaking point and unsure of what to do. This past month they lost our rent checks (around the first you can expect to see a number of checks/envelopes sitting on a doorstep, sounds pretty safe, I know) and they claimed to have no way of contacting us because they do not have our phone numbers. I don't understand what kind of property management company would not have their tenants phone numbers and why they would not think to send us a notice through the mail. When we called them, they said that to reimburse us for their mistake they would take off all late fees that we have incurred. If we were charged for late fees over the time we have lived at this residence I would have liked to be notified. I have contacted the city officials a number of times and the Better Business Bureau about their poor managing. If you are looking at a property managed by Raskin, don't do it! They are a hot mess of problems that will make your life a living hell. Oh yeah, and Theo up there, one of the two good reviews Raskin has, is their locksmith who rekeyed our house and fixed our doors. Upon leaving he said "damn it feels good to be a ganster," very professional, thanks for your help Raskin. not.
