However, their attention to details made it all worth it. All along they were very accommodating, came to check the work progress and quality on several occasions. They did not try to upsell me or charge me extra fees for "waiting time" or "parking" and even sent workers to correct small defects in a timely manner. One of their worker/foreman, Oni, was remarkable in his ability to speak several languages and for his flawless work. He was also being attentive to my remarks and questions. I suggested they give him a bonus which they did :) ! The owners of the company came to chat several time - they are also great humble and smart guys, both civil engineers. The company is new and they are making extra efforts to make themselves known for their honesty and quality of work. I have met way too many dishonest contractors in the city of San Francisco, and I will most definitely support companies like ICD in the future.

When I finally got hold of him, he admitted that he spent my $ 1000 for materials, and next day told me he will not return it. I hired him before. He did a good job, showed me his good side (a mask, beneath which is a very, very, very bad person who bites the hand that feeds him). Then, after he developed my trust, he asked for $6000 for 1 year to pay off high interest credit card debt. I gave it to him but a year later when I asked for $ back he started giving me excuses, made me wait till he sells his car, then, asked for 2-3 more month, then 2-3 more. I still thought he could be trusted and treated him as a friend. I gave him construction work to work for this $ and I gave him $1000 more for materials. He promised work to be done in a month or 2. But, 1 year later - no work, no $ and he did not answer the phone and did not return phone calls for over 6 months. I finally reached him through contacting his wife, asked her to help me get hold of him and explained situation to her. Alexander then called me, told me, that he wanted to return but will not return me my $ because I am contacting his wife, I am a threat to his family. He said: "I'm not going to return anything to you out of principle!." This is his formula/his way to justify his low/thief/ratlike behavior. I want to warn all good people not to fall into his trap like I did. Summary: He did work for me cheap 1 st. 2 nd I gave him more work but it was very expensive but good. After he developed my trust he stole my $ by using deceit and manipulation and showed his real -antisocial personality disorder face. This was my first time hiring a general contractor and I was fearful of getting the run around or ripped of...not with Bill. Bill came to my property at least 3 times before offering a quote on the remodel. His quote was professional and very detailed whereas the 3 other GC's that I spoke with wanted to be paid for return visits to talk to my architect and never did submit actual bids that I could sign on. This was a $50,000 job. The work has been really top notch in my and my architect's opinion. The city inspectors have cleared everything without a single issue. When Bill says "I am not trying to spend your money but you should consider doing X," listen carefully. He knows what he is talking about. This is the way he makes his suggestions and they really made a difference on my project.

We have worked with Welte for two large renovation projects in the past few years. The first was a…read more1 bedroom and 1 bathroom addition to our house, which added ~ 400 sq ft. They had to start from the foundation up and attach it to our existing. They worked with our architect and created an amazing and functional space for us. You cannot tell where the old part ends and the new part begins. Welte's team was amazing to work with. They were always informing us of any recommendations or changes that would help maximize our space and budget. Our second renovation was a year later when we completely rebuilt our kitchen and opened our existing framework into an open concept. I do not think I would have survived this far into the pandemic without my new kitchen. It is amazing! Welte and their team were willing to make some adjustments in moving our washer/dryer and rolled with the punches as we altered plans on the fly. All the member of the team were helpful, communicative and created a positive and safe environment for us to live in during the construction, including a new born and our not so friendly guard dog. We are forever grateful for Paul, Ishmael, JD, Andrew, Julie and Bill for their hard work. They are not the cheapest, but you get quality and continued support with anything that needs repair ( even when it is my fault in drilling through new tile).

Don took the time to explain to me the entire process our home would under go. All questions were answered, and believe me I ask quite a few! Don's price was very competitive with other bids we received. Between this and the great attitude Don brings with him it was a no brainer to go with Lee Construction for our project. Once the contract was signed, and details laid out, work commenced just a couple days later. And here we are. His crew is courteous, clean, and efficient. All the while during the project Don was always available for contact about updates and overall project progress. 11/10, would recommend.

We tried doing it ourselves, but the city required a structural diagram of the deck to be built, incorporation of firewalls (SF lots are often built up property line to property line), and sign off of some forms by a licensed architect or engineer. Sounds like a lot, but honestly, it is a pretty small job...so small, most architects and engineers weren't interested. Not Jeff, however. He managed to squeeze in our smallish architecture job into his busy schedule, created all the drawings and designed the firewalls and foundations the city required. He even went down to the permit center and brought back the permit whereas previously, we'd gone ourselves and came back with more comments from the inspector. In the process, Jeff also recommended some changes to our design to improve efficiency and the look. So, thank you Jeff for getting our project moving again.
