Each of us decided to order a different item so we could share and enjoy all of them. Our daughter got the Reuben. My husband got the Avocado Chicken salad and I got the Crunch Pop Panini and potato soup. Everything tasted amazing! We were so full we had to forego all of the delectable desserts in the showcase. I told the wonderful owner and her staff that we were coming back to Poplarville in a week and that there was no doubt in our minds where we would go for lunch. We are planning on being there when she opens tomorrow, but this time we will order one of her impressive desserts, too!

The service was pretty good. The restaurant was clean. Now onto the food...not so good. I ordered…read morethe ham and cheese melt with broccoli and cheese soup. The soup was great, but the sandwich was not good at all. There was only one piece of very thin ham, one small slice of tomato and barely any cheese. The bun was not toasted and the sandwich and soup came on a soaking wet plate and that was disgusting. My husband got the Cuban sandwich and potato salad. The potato salad was good, but again...the sandwich was not. The sandwich did not have the tangy pork, which is what makes the Cuban. If he had wanted a ham sandwich, he would've ordered one. This was very disappointing. And again his sandwich was delivered on a soaking wet plate. Ridiculous.

They provide electronic buzzers to be notified when your food is ready for pickup. I ordered the hot dog with a side of sauerkraut and made it a combo with a large drink and fries. They ask if you want salt, pepper, or ketchup when you pick up your order. I asked for ketchup packets to go with my fries. Would love to come again to order some other things on their menu.

This little, tucked-away space in Purvis, MS across from the city park has been a much needed addition to our small town for a long time! My son and I went there today after a long day of running errands to treat ourselves to a sweet ice cream treat before we went home. Round about the time that we got our ice cream (1 delicious scoop of salted caramel for me and 1 decadent Dutch chocolate milkshake for him) The Candy Shoppe next door opened. We had time to burn, so we decided to explore. Oh my STARS!!! As if the The Shoppe Ice Cream and More wasn't good enough, The Candy Shoppe (which is only open on Saturdays and Sundays) was a sight to behold. It was like stepping back in time to the candy stores from my youth and then some! Jars of candy filled the walls with everything from jellybeans in a variety of flavors, to gummy's in a variety of shapes (who knew that there were Lego and Army man gummy's) to dark chocolate covered almonds and crème brûlée malt balls...and that's not even scratching the surface! Willy Wonka, you've got nothing on The Candy Shoppe!!! We spent a good 20 minutes inside The Candy Shoppe exploring, and had we not had groceries in the back of the family truckster, we would have stayed longer. Both shops are family friendly, the employees who work there are spectacular, and the offerings are delicious! **Also, as an aside, check out the wall off coffee mugs inside The Ice Cream and More Shoppe. They are GOLD, and if you're anything like me, you'll find yourself laughing out loud as you read through them while you're waiting to place your order. My family is so grateful that these businesses have opened in our small town. The family who operates these businesses is purposefully creating a wholesome Main Street, small town feel which has been desperately lacking in our community. We look forward to heading back soon as the ice cream shop has a delicious menu of sandwiches and salads that we've yet to try. I will update this post once we have had the opportunity.

This time I…read moredecided to try something different and go for the seafood combo plate and unfortunately I was sadly disappointed. Upon arrival I was never acknowledged by the cashier which started the conversation with " what would you like to order?" Rather than some sort of a warm welcome, that those around the town have been accustomed to. Since this was after lunch, the ambience was pretty laid-back and there really wasn't anyone in the lobby area. So there was a lady in the lobby sweeping the floor. I really do appreciate the cleanliness of the place. When I ordered the seafood combo plate, I asked what I could get with it. The cashier proceeded to give me various types of combos and I chose to get the shrimp and oysters. I ask her about the size of the shrimp, and she proceeded to go into a freezer and pull out a bag of popcorn shrimp and another bag of oysters. This was highly disappointing. Being in southern Louisiana, which is known for its nice size shrimp, crabs, and other seafood. I thought I'd be getting some fresh batter fried shrimp and oysters. Instead, I ended up with some frozen rubbery shrimp and semi burnt oysters. What a disappointment this was! The french fries were also overcooked and quite rubbery which didn't help this experience. This goes to show you that although Glyn's driving is a good place to go to for hamburgers, seafood definitely is NOT one of their specialties. I also think it's pretty overpriced for what I received considered this is southern Louisiana. I paid approximately $14.00 for 6 popcorn shrimp and 6 oysters with French fries which were all out of a freezer bag. What happened to Glynn's quality of seafood? This place used to be the talk of the town as a part of the place to eat for seafood and hamburgers. Now I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one complaining about the quality of food I received. Especially the seafood. I would only recommend going here for the shakes, as well as the different variety of hamburgers. But by all means a highly encourage you to stay away from their overly priced misrepresentation of Louisiana seafood.
