This is basically your small town diner. The food is generally well cooked and the portions are large. The early bird special pot roast was a good deal; the side of fries was excellent. We went last night for the early bird special. I had the grilled chicken breast, which, by the way, was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I chose mashed potatoes and vegetables as my sides. Those mashed potatoes were amazing! The vegetables were okay, but I would have preferred less carrots. My husband had the fish and chips was a large plate of food and he even brought home quite a bit. Service was amazing! In fact, those servers move a mile a minute. read more

Went here due to a promotional voucher from the hotel for breakfast. You would have expected I had handed them an EBT card and asked to pay with it when we walked in. we stopped in here on our way passing through on a road trip. you can tell they're understaffed as it took a while to get a table and there was a lot of people stacked up behind us when we arrived. Very friendly staff. We were served super fast once at the table. We both ordered clam chowder, and half a sandwich, mine came with fries. His, coleslaw. OK, the clam chowder was soooooo thick, I could not eat it at all, Way too much flour. I could not finish my BLT and fries due to eating some of the soup, make it thinner please. I took the sandwich with me. 4 stars? because as busy as they were, our waitress was soooo attentive. I did not get her name. darnit. older short hair lady. Curled hair. she was awesome. A classic diner. Decent food and amazing service! The cinnamon French toast is dense and sweet enough to require a post-breakfast nap!

Ate the turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. The potatoes were tasty and still had their skins. Food came out promptly and the restaurant is clean! People are friendly too. The hotel we're staying at (Sure Stay by Best Western) gives out vouchers for a complimentary breakfast at the Lumberjack restaurant next door: a really good deal (and the bacon is especially good), especially for California. They have dine-in and carry out. The staff are masked and the booths are socially distanced in accordance with CDC guidelines. My server, Taylor, was personable and efficient, offering a warmup on my coffee and clearing away the condiment packages promptly. He had a breakfast plate and I ordered the fish and chips, and we got a chicken strip appetizer, all was great until I received the bill my goodness for two people was 64 dollars!! They charged 19.99 for fish and chips and 13.49 for four chicken strips and my son's breakfast was 16.49 my goodness cost to much to eat there. read more

The portions are very small for the price. I can go to the Kopper Kettle down the street & get a huge plate of food for the same price as the tiny French toast pieces we got. I swear the bread slices were really small, I thought I ordered off a kid's menu. The seats look cute but are not very comfortable, & the decor is uninspiring. It's a saw placed over a bland wall as if I forgot I was in Lumberjacks. We are traveling and staying in a local motel. The staff recommended Lumberjacks for dinner. What a hot mess of a place this is. DON'T EAT HERE! Go to a reliable fast food joint. Service was awful and food so-so. They ran the vacuum while we were eating and staff yelled back and forth to each other. I am reluctant to eat at the Lumberjacks chain because they are typically so generous. They do have a few Senior offerings but I wish they had more. Regardless, in our judgement they are often the best choice in a small town. Because Lumberjacks is typically themed to look rustic they are often a little dark. Susanville Lumberjacks is just enough lighter to make it more comfortable for me. Also, not only is it lighter but it is pretty much "spic and span". I'm not easily impressed but this small, yet spacious restaurant really impressed me. The service team took a bit to seat us but the wait was short. Beyond that very short wait the servers were attentive, courteous and efficient. I ordered a taco salad and my wife ordered a senior portion salad and half sandwich. My salad was the best taco salad I have had. It was light on corn and beans but generous with guacamole, sour cream and seasoned ground beef. The dressing looked a little like thousand island (too sweet for me) but I believe it was a creamy chipotle of some sort. Regardless, it worked well- just a hint of spice but not too much. My wife was not as enthusiastic as I am. To sum it up; possibly the best taco salad I have ever had, possibly the most upbeat Lumberjack's I have seen in recent memory. We were there for my daughter's 13th birthday, and I ordered a taco salad, which I have ordered at least 10+ times before, and the taco salad came with a chopped up rare hamburger on top. They offered to remake it with taco meat, as listed in the description, and they brought back a "new" salad with the same exact meat on it. Why offer to remake it, if you're going to make it the same way? Apparently the cooks don't know the difference between a burger and a taco. The best part is you aren't limited to breakfast food in the morning. That's a plus since I'm not a breakfast food fan. I had the club sandwich.
