Sad days! Closed till the 21st
Kevin F.

Sad days! As they were technically closed till June 21st. They were really nice to go ahead and fill a crowler. Looking forward to their reopening. Looking forward to opening the crowler of their " Just the tip fir Pale Ale" tonight. Looks like a cool friendly place, when they reopen the food will be preorder, as at least for a while the kitchen will be closed. I'll report back on the "Just the Tip fir" Cheers!

We came here on a Saturday night to see a friend's band play and really enjoyed ourselves. This place is unassuming at the back end of a newer industrial park. We had a great table right at the roll up doors with a good view of the band and the outdoor views of the trees. Throughout the night we had great service and a lot of fun. My daughter tried each of their delicious ciders with the Peach Ginger being the hands down favorite. I tried a few of their house made beers including the Tres Brewers Mexican Lager, Bock, Wood Amber, and a Wyatt Honey Kolsch. We snacked on Knots & Cheese, a basket of fries and the Artichoke Dip with crusty bread. Everything was served quickly and we really had an awesome time here. This is a great place to visit when in the area.

Great selection of burgers

The new location, while not as fun as the farm, is far better than the previous locale. Plenty of seating (high and low tables and three bar areas) with south and West windows and uncovered outside eating : smoking space will accommodate large groups. The varied menu offers house made appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and salads. They even have a kid's menu! We had The best Rueben sandwich ever! The Kid's Nachos were big enough for Mom to try one and were tasty. Side salad was fresh, cold, crispy and tasty. All condiments served on the side. Beer? Oh yes- delicious. Food and 4 beers $58. Service was friendly and accurate. Finally a place in MV area (actually Blk Diamond) for a casual meal, local owners, off the beaten path and not in the 4 Corners mess. Kudos to Jake and Melissa for making it work! Oh and wines from local winery.

Sawdust Hazy IPA and Farmhouse burger

Ordered the Sawdust Hazy IPA. and the Farmhouse burger. Beer was a light and clean tasting hazy. The burger came with seasoned waffle fries(like Curley fries but waffle shaped) and they were crisp and light. But the burger was fan-fucking-tactic! Super beefy tasting and the merl sauce (1000 island) was a perfect handshake to the crisp lettuce and red onions on the burger. The brioche bun held up great and was the bun.

Stout and Timber Ale for an amazing Black and Tan but don't forget to try the "hazy IPA" - Sawdust !

Great family owned business and a great success story. Plenty of beer to chose from and even some ciders! Menu is Covid small for now but there (soon to be) new location and will have an amazing new menu of "real" food and a view of Mount Rainer! Strong work guys! Dan & Kim

Several dining tables are available inside and it looks like outdoor seating is available in nice weather. A few parking spots are available by the entrance with most off to the side of the building. On the day of our visit the bartender was holding down the fort, but as it was half an hour past opening and no one was there, it wasn't a taxing job. We chatted a bit and found game days often see a big crowd here. Depending on the time of the game. (Black Diamond is a bit of a sleepy town.) Full bar includes wine and several draft beer options. Check their web page for Happy Hour specials and Trivia night info. The menu offers a variety of food option. A few Polish food choices along with other items such as hotdogs, wings, calamari, burgers, chicken Ceasar salad, etc. This is a very nice venue. The bartender was pleasant and very easy to chat with. They even suggested some sightseeing and hiking options we may like nearby. The food quality was good and the restaurant clean.

I sauntered in like a champion heifer entering the show ring, only to find the bar manager evaluating tap lines with the same precision as a certified livestock judge at the World Dairy Expo. The draft list is organized by breed characteristics - I mean, beer styles - with scoring cards that would make the American Dairy Science Association blush. The head bartender, a former 4-H Grand Champion (dairy cattle division), approaches each pour with the same dedication she once showed while preparing her prize-winning Jersey for the Supreme Champion competition. She inspects each glass with the thoroughness of a udder examination at the World Beef Expo. Their flight paddle, "The Grand Champion," arrives presented on a bed of cedar shavings (food-grade, obviously) that would make any show barn proud. Each beer is scored on a point system suspiciously similar to the Holstein Association USA's Linear Classification Program - with categories like "Body Depth" and "Dairy Form" replaced with "Head Retention" and "Hop Expression." The beer garden has been sectioned off like a livestock pavilion, with different areas designated for various beer styles. I witnessed a heated debate about proper beer classification that rivaled the intensity of the Brown Swiss Canton Show's judge's deliberation. A grizzled regular, known only as "The Cattle Whisperer," holds court at the corner table, evaluating each patron's beer selection like he's judging dairy cow confirmation. "Nice topline on that IPA," he'll mutter while taking detailed notes in what appears to be an official American Angus Association scorecard. Monthly "Show & Tell" competitions require customers to present their beers with the same poise and professionalism as a youth showmanship class. Points are deducted for improper hand position on the glass and failure to maintain eye contact with the judge. Five stars? Please. This place earns the Supreme Champion banner and Best of Show rosette! P.S. If you hear someone shout "SWITCH LEADS!" they're not talking about show ring directions - it's actually the signal for a tap rotation. The staff performs the change with the coordinated precision of a champion dairy fitting team. P.P.S. The bathroom keys are attached to show halters, and you must demonstrate proper showmanship techniques to be deemed worthy. The bouncer is a certified livestock judge, and he's not impressed by your amateur handling skills. P.P.P.S. Legend says that on competition nights, the ghost of a legendary dairy cattle judge appears to evaluate the beer selection. Flights have been found mysteriously rearranged in perfect showmanship formation. P.P.P.P.S. Their specialty cask ale program has won more ribbons than a champion Guernsey at the World Dairy Expo, and they display them with the same pride as a multi-generational dairy farm's trophy case.

"The trick," he'll tell you while delivering a plate of burnt ends, "is to position yourself exactly 7.3 inches from the top rack, where the smoke density hits that sweet spot between 'spiritual awakening' and 'temporary meat blindness.'" The Five Forks food truck deserves a high five, it was great. We were there with 8 of us to celebrate a birthday. First of all, the beer selection at the time had 4 or 5 pilsners and the rest almost all IPAs. I get it, IPAs sell but I don't know about the pilsners. The lack of beer variety isn't even the issue as much as NOT ALLOWING FLIGHTS! OMG, YOU'RE A SMALL BREWERY! WHO DOESN'T OFFER FLIGHTS??? I get it, investment in glasses and a little more maintenance BUT YOU'RE A SMALL BREWERY! As a business and finance person, the flights give you maximum margin on your product AND serve as a marketing tool for exposing consumers to your various products. It's actually a negative NOT to have them. Instead, we had to order multiple full glasses and shared the backwash (sarcasm but it was family). Actually you would have more money because we would have all ordered flights and then likely ordered larger of the ones we liked instead of finishing off the stuff that was meh. The beer itself was fine. There was one IPA that had some unique qualities but overall as a whole, they were just ok. Another downfall was that they sell themselves as family friendly, but had a single root beer as the only non-alcohol offering. How about just having some canned soda for the kids? I had inquired in advance about ciders for gluten free options for our celiac and they said "we have ciders" which turned out to be a single cider so that was disappointing as well. The place does have some potential, but untapped at this point.

You'll feel like you're at a big rowdy backyard cookout (don't you DARE call it a BBQ unless yer smokin' meats) that you just stumbled into. He'll ask you what you normally drink, give you some samples, and hook you up with the right beer. I tried to give him a card and he just said "just let me know how many you've had before you leave, I trust you!". You really feel like you're at some sort of family get together. Oh, and the views of Rainier from the patio are stellar! Unlike almost all other breweries in the PacNW, this one is not stocked chock full of insufferable, apathetic, hipster and post-hipster types. The crowd here is largely blue collar: truckers and farmers, Carhart and coveralls, construction workers and men-at-work signs. Which, again, is refreshing for a brewery. Beer is for everyone, not just beardos at coffeeshops with macbook pros that "work in tech". My only qualm is that I feel like the beer is just OK. It wasn't bad or anything, but it also didn't blow me away. Most of the beers were a little too much on the sweet and malty side (even the IPA) for what I usually like to drink. (which is stuff that is really pale, dry, and bright) The irony of my sounding like one of those disaffected beer bro stereotypes I just criticized earlier in the review is not lost on me though so...take what I say with a grain of malted grain.

Walking through the entrance, the decor stands out right away, growler jugs, hanging from the ceiling from breweries from all over the country, along with a lot of cool animal wood sculptures and memorabilia for honoring Veterans and history. I believe the bar tender was also the owner or one of them? Very friendly and helpful with the selections. Taking time to answer questions, even on a surprisingly busy Thursday afternoon. Lots of seating throughout the inside and on the patio area. They specialize in unfiltered brews, which I like, as it gives a full flavor to most beers you may not get, if they're over filtered, another one of those balancing acts that those workers of brewing magic deal with. I started off with a Amber lager, full tasting with the crispness of a lager, a flavorful change from the usual amber ales. The place had a cool old dudes vibes due to all the memorabilia and the old van in the shop, but definitely wasn't just an old dudes place, as a few of the younger crowd was enjoying a brew while working remote. Plan on a return trip on a weekend to check out the weekend vibe, try the food truck, and more of their tasty unfiltered beers. I also tried their Red Ale, which was also robustly flavored and went down smoothly. Gotta love those reds! A fun stop while passing through or coming back from some of the beautiful hikes in the area. Definitely have their own style and niche well done. Happy Yelping and Cheers!
