Parked in the pay lot across the street. Went inside Lululemon. Immediately greeted by a uniformed security guard. Is that supposed to make me feel secure? Found a very nice shirt. $88. Wait, $88? Super friendly and helpful staff. Had to notice that it seemed like just about everyone working there and even shopping there were impossibly thin. Don't go to this Berkeley location if you want to return anything with a gift receipt. They will only allow exchanges, no store credit. Different policy then all other stores I've visited and others that I called just to verify. Also online chatted with customer support as well as looked up lulu's published return policy with gift receipt and its different than this store. Mgr said all other stores are doing this incorrectly. Luckily other stores aren't like this but just having to drive to another store is a pain. Just to be clear everyone was courteous but their return policy should be consistent with everyone else. Lulu corporate needs to have a talk and set them straight. read more

I stopped by on this particular day to return a jacket I received with gift receipt in hand. The shorter Asian gentleman is the employee who helped me. He said since my return was originally purchased with a credit card I was unable to return but only exchange for another item at the store. I was not even offered a gift card. This was odd to me so I called another Lululemon location and they mentioned to me this was not their policy. I can only assume that the lazy nature of the employees here is what stopped this particular person from fully taking care of me. read more

I love LuLu Lemon so whenever I need a pick-me-up or a reward I will be sure to stop by. Their store is conveniently located right at the corner of a busy intersection tucked amongst a number of smaller eateries and stores. Parking is quite tough especially on the weekends. It is also easily accessible by the AC Transit Bus system. I love the vibrant colors and patterns of their clothing. The quality matches the more pricier cost of the clothing which I'm happy to pay because their clothes look and feel great! And it is also very durable. Note: their sizes run small AND their clothing is rarely on sale except for during their Canadian Boxing Day Holidays. read more

They are just fine but guess what? my plain black breathable shorts from Target that cost me $15 do the job just as well. Lululemon is not an apparel company it is a marketing company. LuLuLemon is exorbitantly overpriced, over-hyped, and phony. First of all, the quality isn't that good. The $110 yoga pants I purchased started pilling after 2 washes. Second of all, they are not a "customer service" oriented company despite all the bull printed on their bags and windows. I bought a $45 sports bra from their Vancouver store and wore it a few times. The criss-cross in the back rode up so much while I exercised so that it ended up at the base of my neck - poor design. I took it to the store in Berkeley and asked if I could exchange it for another one - something any REI or Patagonia store would have allowed. Despite their outward attitude of peace and love, the customer service associate told me that because they couldn't resell it (i.e. Lululemon would lose some profit in the interest of customer service), they could only allow me a 15% discount on the privilege of buying another poorly designed bra. When I disagreed with her as to the generosity of this offer, the woman thanked me for my "design suggestion." Go to a store that actually cares about quality and customer service (patagonia, mountain hardware). read more

If you're the LEAST bit overweight, don't bother coming here. You're only allowed to buy fitness-ware here if you're already fit. I drove to lululemon, from Alameda, to try on a specific sports bra (the TataTamer). This was my first experience with lululemon, and I won't be coming back. I did *tons* of online research for sports bras that had high ratings, and were specifically tailored for larger breasts (I'm a 32DD). The TataTamer seemed to be the perfect fit. Since I didn't want to just order online, I decided to try the store. Once I arrived, I was thoroughly ignored until I basically wandered into the changing area, looking lost (even though there were plenty of staff). I was finally helped, grabbed the bras that I thought were my size, and headed into a changing room. Unfortunately, the bra just didn't work for me. The female associate who helped me out was nice (she did have me try on a few other sizes), but basically said "I'm sorry, I don't know much about that bra, they don't make it in my size.". Here's the thing, lululemon: I understand that you're a fitness-oriented store. That's why I came here. Instead of being encouraging, or offering alternatives (like a different bra, a bra/top combo, anything), I was basically brushed off because I'm too freaking fat for your bras. No one bothered to get to know me even a little. Had they engaged me in any kind of dialog (the basic 1 minute retail requirement), they might have found out that I've always been pretty fit, until I hit 40 last year. They might also have found out that, having quit smoking 10 months ago, I've gained 25 pounds, which I haven't been able to lose, no matter what I've tried. Instead, I was overlooked for more svelte clientelle. I understand that I was only trying on a $58 bra. But, even if I were doing that in, say, Nordstrom, I would be treated with far more grace. All I wanted was a bra that I could start jogging in. Instead, I walked away feeling fat, and beneath diginity. read more

I've lived in this area for 7+ years and nothing that has occupied that corner has ever been remotely as cool as Lululemon. Lululemon is not inexpensive but ladies, finding the perfect pair of black yoga pants- the ones that give you long sleek legs, slim your hips and make your ass look so firm and perky people damn near have to catch themselves from biting it- can only be found here. These pants are like that one perfect pair of jeans. Do not underestimate them. They are the holly grail. Trust me if worn properly (inside and outside of the gym and studio) they can and will get you some attention, some action, and a probably a little something something. Do not attempt to harness their power-- embrace it. I myself own several pairs- you can never have to many and as soon as this store opens, I may just buy myself a few more. After that fat piece of Doughnut, I felt like the Michelin-man with my daughter going to the Lululemon store. A completely different approach for me with my daughter as oppose to going to a Lululemon Store by myself. With my daughter with me, I try the best to my ability to compose myself. But with all these "HOT" women in those tight yoga pants, it's really difficult for me not panting like a dog. This corner Lululemon location is a much smaller location than the San Francisco locations. Also smaller than the Burlingame, Palo Alto, Corte Madera and Santana Row stores. I actually make use of my visit to this Lululemon. Besides not picking up any of the female associates, I purchased two $50.00 gift cards for my two friends, who's birthdays are coming up. The associates were very friendly and assisted my needs. I can also use a lot more... you know what I mean, YOGA QUEEN! =P read more

Warning: if you're a woman of color, expect crappy service. I did not appreciate being snubbed by the sales person today. I was clearly there, waiting patiently to pick up my altered pants. When she finally finished with the two women she was chatting with, she immediately turned her back and helped two other women who arrived AFTER me. I was visibly annoyed by the whole thing. Note: Greeting me with meaningless compliments does not make up for the FACT that you snubbed me in the first place. Get it right, folks! Normally, I'd let it go. However, this encounter was related to another rude incident before. During my visit last week (to drop off the pants), I explained that they were older, but that someone at another store explained that I could still have the complimentary hemming. Hence, why I came in (Berkeley is closer to me than Gilroy). When I brought my marked pants to the front, the cashier felt she needed to announce how old the pants were (even after I pointed this out). Was this necessary?! This place is a joke. I love how the hourly wage employees are snotty and totally unhelpful while selling things they can't afford themselves. Went in specifically to buy a bag. Asked for the bag in a different color I had seen a few days prior and there was none in stock at the back. She came out and told my GF there's none. That was it. Didn't even bother to ask if we wanted to order one in, call another store for us to go pick it up at or even take our numbers down once the new shipment comes in. Solution: Just order online. Why bother visiting a store that stinks of fake and pretentious employees with bad customer service. Rubbish. read more

I totally agree with the comments of some Yelpers re the attitude of staff at the Lulu Berkeley store. 1. I have noticed that they leave the cashier area for a prolonged period of time and the assigned cashier do not bother to do a headcheck on the cashier area frequently while chatting with other staff or doing some work on the floor. 2. Some of the cashiers ignore the queing order for some reason. Even though I was the first in line already, the cashier was engaging first the person behind me asking if they were ready. Hmm. Could it be that the people behind me shared some similarities with the cashier in terms of features? 3. Not all sale items are marked correctly. Some are tagged; some are not. Sale items are not reflected on the online till/cash register. We are talking of same style, same color tops. a. When I tried to purchase one without the correct sale tag, the cashier attempted to pass it off as full price and when I said that it was marked down on the floor, she just arbitrarily took $8 off without checking the inventory on the floor which were clearly marked. b. I told the staff that the sale price which was actually $13 off but she said that she can only give me the $8 off price. c. The staff did not bother to check it herself or ask another staff to check for her on the floor. I think that this is poor customer service and perhaps laziness on the part of the staff. d. I told her that I will not buy it anymore and instead I went to the rack myself to pull another shirt of the same color and style with the correct sale price tag and went in line again (!) and showed her the correct price. e. Only then did the staff enter the correct sale price for the item that I wanted to purchase. Yes, this Berkeley Lulu store needs to train their staff on customer service to ensure customer loyalty, retention, and satisfaction. read more

Worth every single penny, especially since I live in these clothes. Their incredible fabric wicks sweat away, dries off in little time after dance class or rehearsal, and is easy to wash and dry, ready to wear the next day. Flattering design and cuts. So much variety for all shapes, sizes... This store needs to carry more colors and sizes like their SF store - I'm hoping they'll offer the Fall line soon - other than that, Berkeley finally has Lululemon. Hurray! read more

It takes a mighty hot pair of pants to get me to drop $80 without batting an eye. Those pants made the ass on this now broke-ass look so round and juicy. I love you lululemon, for giving me what mother nature did not. (Ok, I thank you and DJ's Martial Arts and Core Flow.) I also love the v-neck top - guess I'll have to schedule more sexy-attired dinner dates immediately after workouts - and the remix lulu hoodie - it's ridiculous warm, and the sleeves, for once, aren't too long. The service was great, everyone was helpful, right down to pinning my pant legs up to be hemmed (for free, very nice). The cool manifesto bag is a nice touch. I just feel good in their clothes. I am surprised with some of these ho hum hater reviews. First off the Berkley store is by far my favorite. The customer service is stellar!!! Everyone is super friendly and on my last visit I brought my cranky two year old, which I was sure was going to irritate the store. NOT SO! They have toys for your kiddo to play with, dog treats for your pooch, and filtered water. I was in and out in no time with my new running pants in a jiffy, while lil man was fully entertained. They even invited me to their Sunday Crossfit and Yoga series for all of August... Which is FREE and encouraged me to bring our kiddo. seriously there are so many non family friendly stores and it is sooooo refreshing to have people who understand what it's like trying to do anything with a toddler. Seriously people the clothes are amazing especially chicks with curves. You don't have to be a yogi extraordinaire to look hot rockin some Lulu!!! The quality is top notch!!! Ive tried everything... Nike, VSX, Adidas, Gap Fit, and NOTHING holds a candle to Lulu's product. The clothes are loaded with technology, compartments and functionality that simply blows away any other product ... THEN the colors, the look and fit are sexy smoking hot. Yes, you need to care for your Lulu products like you would your finest threads. Simply follow the freaking directions and don't wash your gear with any cottons ONLY synthetic fabrics and don't use fabric softeners. Do that and you will get 5+ years of useable on your stunning threads!! I only wear Lulu and you should too! read more

I said a prayer thanking God for Lululemon! Their reversible pants fit me like a glove....the designer made them only for me....... really................. well it feels that way. Be ready to spend some money for this stuff....all worth it though. My pants were about $94. Best thing ever is that they hem for free!!!!!! Turn around time is about 4 days. Not only do you look super duper sexy cute while working out but the energy you get from this place is awesome. If this doesn't get your lazy ass off the sofa, you're a lost cause... Lululemon is a FAVORITE of mine and I have to say that this location has the best customer service. Every time that I go in everyone is inviting and helpful. They have a great selection and are all knowledgeable of what's new and in stores. They really try to make you feel at home by calling you by your name and it does make me feel good and different than my average shopping experience. The manager Jill is amazing! They really have a great team spirit when you go in. I always look forward to stopping by to grab something new and fun to workout in. read more

There's something about the comfort and breath-ability of their clothing which I absolutely love and need while practicing Bikram. The customer service at this location was spot-on. The girls were so helpful and even offered suggestions as to which style made my booty look better. After all, why bother paying that much for workout clothes if the booty isn't highlighted, right? I came here after trying my friend's "The Mat" and discovering it was great for my sweaty hands and feet. In my time at the store several employees greeted me but were not particularly helpful. I was looking at one of the lighter colored mats, but was concerned about staining from sweat (which I do profusely while practicing). One employee told me that it wouldn't stain, and before I could ask any more questions, she rushed away. I flagged another employee who helpfully told me "all yoga mats stain" before also rushing away. Feeling not confident, but in love with the color, I purchased it anyway. I took my brand new mat home to test it out. During my first downward dog my palms left yellow stains. I wiped the mat down with a vinegar/water solution, which did not help much. Disappointed, I returned to the store a few days later and asked to exchange it for a darker color. The employee recognized me and said "I thought I told you all mats stain." He was clearly annoyed, reminded me of their no return/exchange policy, and grumbled that the return would have to marked as "damaged" when it wasn't. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience. Had the employees been more helpful, I would have purchased a darker color and would not have had to come back to exchange it. I'm paying $70 for a yoga mat, not to put up with your attitude. read more

Lululemon has excellent quality (if extremely overpriced) clothing. There is a bit of pressure to buy from salespeople who are constantly trying to upsell. However, this review is influenced by their terrible customer service on returns. they have a 14-day return policy that they do not advertise well (at least 30-day is standard). And they refuse to take back items in the store even for partial store credit due to "we aren't selling it at the store anymore" when it is still being sold at the parent company website for full price is egregious. Calls to the parent company customer service (I was referred by sales staff) was a frustrating and completely unhelpful experience. Although I once purchased the best fitting fitness pants of my life there, I have no plans to go back as I left completely shattered and in tears. Like so many other Yelpers exclaimed, don't plan on returning anything here... I purchased a $98 "Quick Pant" (or something) here and was told if they hemmed it, I would lose the drawstring, so they recommended I go home, try it out and return it if I felt like it didn't work for me. So, I did. And, yup, they were too long. So, I went back. With the tag, their cute bag and pants in tow, I was assuming I would get a store credit, since, unfortunately, I misplaced the receipt, my total bad! What I wasn't hoping for was disrespect, which I got from Jen, the manager. "So, when you knotted it at the bottom, it came undone all by itself?" "So, we were supposed to tell you not to lose your receipt?" I didn't have my receipt, I get it, but to speak to me in such a condescending way was really uncalled for. When she apologized that she couldn't do anything, I said, "It doesn't seem like it". That's true. It didn't, I was already feeling belittled. Then she called me 'nasty'. Really? Don't go to this store if you want to return anything, even if you have a receipt! They would not accept packaged, *unopened* underwear that was purchased for full price and i had the receipt! I contacted online lulu and was told that unopened underwear is returnable!! But each store can make up their own return policy as they are encouraged to be "entrepreneurial". I consider an inconsistent return policy to be bad customer service! Never going to this location again. Walnut Creek is very nice about returns. read more

I bought some pants at a different store and they are hemming them for free here. The super nice cute blond thing went out of her way to get the hemming done quicker as there was a longish line of super excited ladies waiting to try on clothes in their packed dressing rooms. The lady suggested I use the restroom to change into the pants since I owned them and then go directly to the seamstress. Loved the service here and the place is busier probably since word got out they corrected the see through problem that the last CEO got fired for. I still think these pants are very durable and comfortable which makes them worth the extra money. read more

Let me first say I take back whatever I said about lululemon (and if you don't know, too bad) The clothes are definitely comfortable, the sweaters really comfy and warm. The fit is nice and in a way "form fitting," but not too snug or too loose. I still don't think I can justify paying for a pair of shorts or shirt when I can pay 20 dollars more and get a sweater. The sales rack definitely brings down the price to what it should probably have been in the first place. The Berkeley location is up to par as far as customer service goes. Always somebody to lend a hand and dish out information. Would I go back... perhaps if I had money to burn on expensive "workout" clothes, but I can workout in anything. I can't believe I just spent that much on workout pants but I'm telling myself it's worth it because I don't actually intend to wear these when working out. I do work out, but I don't need $94 pants to do so. I bought the stay-still pants because they are super comfy, gorgeously flattering pants that it would be appropriate to wear when lounging around or running errands on my days off. These are the perfect pants for being comfortable in public because you ARE comfortable without looking frumpy. I will have many happy hours in them in the near future. How cool and comfy are their clothes? Cool enough and comfy enough that I would have also bought a ridiculously expensive hoody if it hadn't had that stupid horseshoe smack on the top of the hood. I've never in my shopping life been so turned off by a product that I'd previously been hooked on as when I saw that damn horseshoe staring back at me in the mirror. But if you're looking for a logo for your satanic cult, give the hoody a try. read more

I was really excited to buy yoga clothes from Lululemon (The advertising hype worked on me. What can I say? I can be a sucker sometimes.). I was very disappointed with what I got. First, I bought some bamboo fabric clothes that were super pricey, but performed horribly. They feel really heavy and lost their shape. I ended up with a size too big? What's up with that? They looked great in the store. I'm thinking, don't they test their designs before they sell to them to the people for an arm and a leg? Second, they hemmed my mom's pants all wrong. She had to get them all redone. We're talking four pairs. That was annoying. I was there when the guy was pinning it. It just seemed like he wasn't listening. Last, the customer service was lacking. The clerks were hard to find when I had a question and then when they were there, they didn't seem to have the answers. That's understandable, but they didn't seem to take steps to *find* the answers. Whats up with that? Then, later, there was a problem with my husband's pants and when we came in to take care of it, they gave me a hard time because I hadn't kept the tags. This is the sort of thing I would ordinarily understand, but the information the clerk needed was totally obvious and the circumstances were such that she didn't really need to information from them. read more

I have been buying lululemon workout clothes for years. I know a lot of people are turned off by the price of the clothing, and I agree that it can be very expensive. I am willing to spend more money for lululemon workout clothes because they are comfortable, breathable, and flattering. All of the lululemon items that I've had for over 3 years are still in great condition even after plenty of washes and workouts. I know you can buy much cheaper gear at Target or Wal-Mart, and it will do the job, but from my experience the quality just doesn't compare. As for the store, I've been very happy with my shopping experiences there. The store is smaller than the typical lululemon, but the stock is great. I've always been able to find my size. The sales associates are always friendly and enthusiastic. When I was looking for a vinyasa scarf, the staff that answered the phone were very friendly, and let me know as soon as the scarves were on the shelf. This location also offers free yoga classes and they have a run club that meets every Wednesday evening. I know some people aren't a fan of lululemon in general, but if you are this is a great location to shop at. read more
