Today, I visited LULU's store. Since I will be going to Cancun for Thanksgiving break, I hope to get eyelash extension to make my eyes look bigger. But I want to look natural. I found the store on Yelp. And made a reservation three weeks in advance. I was running late and found the wrong place. However, she was waiting for me and gave me a 90 min slot. We discussed about the length first and then chose the material. I got the mink & silk one for 120 dollars which is a reasonable price. And I also scheduled another slot for touch up in three weeks. It is only 40 dollars. While the most important thing is not the price but the style she made; it's so pretty. Everyone I met today praised me for my eyelash extensions. She has been living in the bay area for more than 15 years and has worked with eyelash extensions for more than 4 years. She told me she has customers that come back every three weeks for touchup. And I am pretty sure I will become one of those customers. In addition, she gave me recommendations on manicure stores and salons. I've come here a 4-5 times for eyelash extensions and touchups. The price is pretty competitive at $40/touchup but I always leave wondering why I continued to come here. To start, it doesn't seem especially sanitary. I'm not sure how frequently they change the towel that you lie your head down on. A few times it was stained and/or had eyelash extension remnants from a previous appointment. Kinda gross, seeing as how you lay there for over an hour at a time. Also, depending on who works on you, they don't alwayd use gloves nor do they always use a face mask. So as their breathing the whole time you kind of have to hold your breath. A little too intimate for my liking... Also, they always stick the strip of new lashes on your forehead for easier access while they work. So for the whole appointment you have an adhesive strip of lash extensions stuck to the center of your forehead. After you're done, it's like pulling teeth to try to ask them how to take care of your extensions. Do you wait 24 hours before washing your face? Can you wear mascara still? Can you wear eyeliner still? Can you use regular eye makeup remover? I asked a number of different questions every time and I still could never get a straight answer. Shouldn't they be telling me these things without me asking? The first time I went my lash extensions only lasted 1 week. I had to take it upon myself to experiment and figure out what works best to take prolong the life of my extensions. When you check in and check out at the beginning and end of your appointment, they talk about you in Chinese if they think you don't understand. I understand the temptation to do this but it's pretty unprofessional to do consistently. What finally sent me over the edge so that I've stopped going to them was an appointment where the lady was obviously sick but decided to work without gloves nor a face mask. She was coughing and sneezing into her hands throughout my appointment. No gloves or face mask on. Gross. Pros: - open late and flexible hours - price - lashes are nice while they last (~2 weeks?) I really needed a massage and found a Groupon Now deal for this place so I decided to give it a try. My massage was very dissatisfying and I would not come back for a variety of reasons. First of all, the massage itself did not serve its purpose. At the end of the massage, I my muscles did not feel loosened and my whole body didn't feel more relaxed. I asked for firm pressure but my masseuse was so gentle that I couldn't even feel anything. I also felt like she didn't really know what she was doing because she spent more time on all the wrong spots or spots that didn't really need work on, while neglecting all the places that did need work on. Secondly, throughout the massage, my masseuse was not very professional. She would leave the door to my room wide open while she went outside to get more towels. It's one thing to not close the door and let everyone outside see in or let all the noise from outside come in. But it's another thing to not cover me up with blankets when she leaves the door wide open. It felt so awkward and I just thought it was very unprofessional of her. Due to these reasons, I definitely would not come back. My review is based only on my one experience here so perhaps, my experience would have been different with a different masseuse. UPDATE I made a repeat visit with Nicky for a fill yesterday afternoon and left looking drag queenish. My first initial installment was with mink lashes. She filled them in with silk lashes. I would have preferred if she asked me first. I told her that my fall out was a lot and not so sparse like Lulu had them. I wanted a natural look and she replied "natural lashes are not long lashes". Mind you, I've been wearing extensions for 3 years. I showed her the standard extension picture so she could see the natural look I was going for. It was a fail. I told her I didn't like it and if she could trim. She said she couldn't. The lady at the counter was about to swipe my card for $80! When I told her I had a fill, she had to check the appointment book to make sure I wasn't lying I guess. Then said, "How much tip you leave". Yeah, I gotta tip for you, it's going on Yelp. read more

Came here for their eyelash special on groupon. Bought this groupon deal after carefully reading all the reviews. I got my lashes done a couple of weeks ago and is now in love with my full lashes. I just got my refill last week and think I will be a regular for this service especially since everyone has been complimenting on how my lashes makes my eyes pop. My lash were done by Nicky. First of all, this place is really dirty. They have a dirty blanket which they don't change nad they use it for all customers! They're also really rude. They yell at you all the time!! They can't speak english and they constantly talk loud with each other... I came here a few times, but they always find an excuse to charge you more than their deal. Although my girlfriend is already so gorgeous, Lulu and her staffs made her shines like a diamond! I'm giving all the credits to them because of their friendly service on top of quality works. I have to revise this review. These lashes ended up falling out very quickly (and I took good care of hem). They were thick and stiff and looked pretty fake after the first or second day. Did the eyelash extensions using the $69 Groupon deal. The process took a couple hours which was fine, but I complained a few times about my eye being stung by the glue, the young woman felt bad but didn't really do much of anything to fix it. I have a high tolerance for pain, but the fact that it was burning for 2 hours..I think anyone would complain. I could hardly open my eye after from how badly it hurt. I would recommend this salon to have some eye drops handy to relieve this pain since others have complained about it (when I asked if they had any eye drops, like Visine, she said to go to the pharmacy..hmm okay?) Anyways, although my lashes looked phenomenal, they all fell out in a week. I was confused because I wore no makeup, did no extreme workouts, slept on my back at night, yet they still ALL fell out. I had one long eyelash extension left by the following Friday :-l I don't know if it's them to blame but I guess it wasn't a bad deal since the cost was reasonable. read more

I tried this salon a while back and I had to make sure that a got this review in. I went there for a lash extension fill because my regular place was completely booked. They said they could do a fill and that I had to purchase a full set, even though it had only been 2 1/2 weeks since my last fill?? I decided to do it because I had an event to attend that weekend and wanted to look my best. When I was done it looked fine, definitely not the quality I am used to and it took way too long (nearly 2 hrs!). I went to my event and I was content. Fast forward one week later ... 75% of the lashes had already fallen out!! I have been getting extensions for 3 years and this has never happened, they typically fall out with my natural lash cycle - these fell off of my natural lashes! Meaning there was an issue with the bonding agent. Definitely will not be coming back ... Ever. read more

Lulu did my lashes, and she was very pleasant to be around, with a great attitude. Since I am new to getting lashes, they seemed slightly long immediately after, but after a couple of hours of getting used to, I am liking them. They are a bit heavy and I would have liked to have different lengths to make them look more natural. Good thing is Lulu is seasoned and knows what she is doing, so you will not have to wait around for 3 hours like some other places. If you are looking for a fancy place this is probably not your thing, but if you just need your lashes done, they offer a great price, same as the Groupon price, so it is better to just purchase the service directly here. read more

The facility itself is as well equiped and clean as it gets. This place is so clean they should be doing surgery instead of massage. High points on the building and rooms, down to the scents and the cleanliness of the bathroom. I had massages performed by Wendy. She's the best. Lulu Obviously Very Excellent I found this place on groupon and called ahead for an appointment for the next day for a facial for my fiancé. While i waited I decided to get a pedicure to pass the time away. At first it took a litte time for them to understand that the facial wasn't for me for my significant other and then had some time to decide who was going to do my feet. Now honestly for the first time I don't mind little things like that. As for the pedicure she did an OK job for $20 since it was only a pedi I wish ther was more scrubbing and calis removal on my heel and some sort of scrub on the bottom of your feet. Althougb I think they do all that just did think to ask how much more... Didn't feel like spending more and want to see what they do for 20. Now for the facial, my fiancé said he fell a sleep....typical but he like how she cleaned his face but didn't relax his. He said he might go there again. Eyelash extension disaster!!! They did very unnatural extensions, on the top of that they were super long despite the fact that I asked for the medium length. Also, since material is so thick, it's pretty sharp, so my eyes are constantly red, especially after I wake up. Application took almost 3 hours, too long. I had my first eyelash extension appt at 12. I was taking into the back around 12:07pm so that was awesome. The thing that I didnt like was the tape that was used to hold dwn my lashes. It hurt and was very uncomfortable. She took the tape off and reapplied it a few times and each time it hurt. The process took about 90 min.. it looked beautiful and natural. Almost too natural lol. I prefer them longer and thicker but I was still satisfied so I made a follow up appt for a refill in a few weeks. The next morning I woke up with puffy, red, itchy eyes. The tape that was used gave both my eyes a rash and I had to take off the extensions right away. I cancelled my follow up appt. I will not be back. read more
