Sundae with chocolate cake
Romina G.

This place was really good. We came from Out of town on a recommendation. They had live music and while it was great, it was too loud making it really difficult to have a conversation. The Picanya was delicious!! Ordered with potatoes and salad, all great! The grilled chicken was good, the cachapa was alright and the chocolate cake sundae was spectacular! Service was excellent and drinks were delicious!

Cane back for brunch / lunch & it did not disappoint! Daniella was an exceptional server & the food was amazing. The place is clean and the presentation of the food was mouthwatering! This may be my new spot! It was pretty busy for a Friday but the food came out quick & was hot. I need to check out their happy hour next.

This was my first time at this place and the aesthetic of the place was nice and the breakfast was pretty good and the staff very friendly.

Paisa Bowl

Amazing service by Nicolas as soon as we stepped thru the amazing front doors they have. Located in an old school shopping plaza, you can tell Luka takes pride in being modern and giving great ambient vibes. We sat our family of four where our kids were super hungry so we ordered mini Tequeños (cheese sticks) as soon as we sat down and we all enjoyed really fresh and juicy cheese inside the baked good and our eyes had multiple great sounding menu items in mind from reading the delicious flavors they were offering. I was between a Paisa Bowl and Lomo Saltado bowl and chose the Paisa because I was in a more meatier mood. However, I am returning for a Lomo Saltado bowl to try that out. My wife was craving some salmon but was split between the Red Snapper/Perch fish or the Mixed Seafood Rice and decided on the Arroz Mixto for her meal. The kids shared a cheeseburger and fries from the kids menu and when that burger came out, it did not look like it was kids size which was great as far as portion for those two to split and looked like a great gourmet burger with top quality bun and melted cheese instead of some microwaveable kids burgers that many other places tend to provide. The chocolate sundae dessert looked amazing to end the night but after eating our meals, we had leftovers to box and no room in our stomach to enjoy that vanilla ice cream topped with a nice moist chocolate cake on top. Kudos to the Luka owners and manager, Luis, who stopped by our table to deliver my wife's Colombian Latte coffee with nice latte art on top, this place has great service, food, and ambiance to enjoy a s a nice date night, family night, or solo on a lunch run and you're near the area.

This is a really cozy and homey type of restaurant. I feel like the staff truly cares. I sat at the bar while waiting for my friend who had to deal with difficult traffic. The staff was r we ally welcoming. We sat down and our server was happy to explain details of a couple dishes to my friend. I already knew what I wanted before walking in the door. We ordered Venezuelan empanadas on our server's recommendation. We had one cheese, one chicken, and two beef. I had one beef and it was real good My friend really enjoyed her beef and risotto. I also enjoyed my ceviche although I would have liked it to be colder. Anyway, the fish was fresh and I scooped up all the lime juice with a spoon. This is a nice place to eat. I saw they have some good Tuesday specials, such as $3 beers with $4 tacos and $6 margaritas. They have live music on Fridays. I would be happy to come back here.

Came back with friends from out of town, good experience again. Very friendly and cordial staff and waiters. There was a hiccup, we ordered the guacamole and chicharrón appetizer. However the chips that were brought to our table were obviously store bought and unfortunately we got the crumbles from the bottom of the bag. I brought it to the attention of the manager and he made it right by bringing new chips and a refill of guacamole and pico de gallo. I think at that price point they should be making their own chips.

If You Don't Like This Place, Check Your Taste Buds -- They Might Be Broken! Okay, I saw a couple of reviews from David Ramos and Gean Austin complaining about the food and service here, and honestly... I think those two must have accidentally walked into a parking lot instead of this restaurant. Because what we experienced was the complete opposite of whatever parallel universe they were dining in. Let me break it down for the people in the back I ordered the Paisa Bowl, my wife went with the Cachapa de Pabellón, and we kicked things off with the Chicharrones appetizer. And let me tell you something -- it was so good I almost proposed to the chef. The flavor, the presentation, the seasoning -- out of this world! The service? Second to none. We got greeted with a smile, seated right away, and within about 3 minutes -- yes, I timed it -- someone was at our table ready to take our order. And this wasn't some jam-packed dinner rush, either -- the restaurant was at almost zero capacity. That means they didn't just treat us well because they were busy; they treated us well because that's how they roll. Special shoutout to Francisco, our server, who deserves a raise, a trophy, and maybe his own fan club. The man was smooth, funny, and on top of everything. By the time we finished, I was full, happy, and wondering if I could legally adopt him as part of the family. So David and Gean -- no offense, but maybe your food arrived before your mood improved, because our experience was perfection. If great food, amazing service, and good vibes offend you... this probably isn't your kind of place. For the rest of us who actually enjoy life -- run, don't walk!

I was very reluctant to come to Luka's due to the mixed reviews; however, I wanted to check it out for myself. Ambiance: a very modern, calm vibe, definitely has a brunch feel to it. Bossa nova music is a nice touch. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the bathrooms; honestly, I felt very comfortable changing my baby there. Food Blackberry juice with milk: very rich, tasty, very refreshing. The milk definitely complements the juice nicely without overpowering it, striking the right balance of fruity and creamy flavor. Lentil soup: very well done, super hearty, they were not selfish with the beans. I love that they added a bit of shredded pork, which gave it a nice kick of flavor and texture. I recommend. Latin Luka: my God, this was such a great burger. I was really worried because, since this burger comes with chicharrón, I thought the pork in it would overpower the burger itself. However, it only added flavor. Not to mention, the house sauce with a dash of lime gave it this unique flavor that really had me in a bind. Service: our waiter Francisco was such a delight. He gave us great insight on each of the menu items we asked about, which is another thing I appreciate. Hospitality is something I value greatly in waiters. He was very attentive to us and made sure our experience was an unforgettable one. I will be returning to try more of their wonderful menu.

Caramel sundae (flan and ice cream!)

I am starting with dessert. Whoever decided that flan should be served on top of ice cream is just plain wicked! It was one of the best desserts I have ever had. It wasn't crazy sweet and the flan was amazing on its own. Okay. Now I am ready to start my review. We have been in the plaza many times and kept thinking we needed to try Luka, but we have ended up at Marian's because we were insane. Today we specifically went with Luka's on our mind. We started with the mini empanadas. They were so delicious and loaded with filling. I had a cachapas with steak. It was so good! My husband had the picana and loved it. We got plantains, fried yucca & avocado on the side. The fried yucca was so good. Who am I kidding everything was so good. Dessert was amazing...but you already know how I feel about that. Why 4 stars? They have a full bar...why soda by the can?

I called to make a reservation for dinner on a Saturday evening and was told that I didnt need one. Now I know why. The restaurant was empty except for 1 family table of 8 with loud children. Of course the manager/owner (gentleman in his 40's) took 2 menus and guided us to a small 2 top right onto of the loud family table. We kindly said thank you but we would prefer to sit at the bar which was also empty. As the gentleman walked behind us, he loudly said to the server that "These people don't want to sit next to the other people". We found that to be pretty rude so we canceled our drink order and quietly left the restaurant. We figured that if it started out that bad and there was barely anyone dining on a Saturday night, we would be smart to go somewhere else. (Which we did). The food on the menu looked good but I was also hesitant when 90% of the restaurant pictures on Yelp were not taken by patrons, but by the marketers for the restaurant. The decor inside was very pretty and it looked welcoming, but it just wasn't. I do hope that they work on their customer service in the future.

Luka is an excellent Colombian restaurant that delivers both incredible food and a welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly staff that made me feel right at home. The restaurant has a very nice vibe that's perfect whether you're stopping by for a casual meal or dining with friends and family. I ordered the empanadas and the Bandeja Paisa Bowl, which has easily become my favorite item on the menu. The empanadas were perfectly prepared and packed with flavor, while the Bandeja Paisa Bowl was hearty, satisfying, and brought together all of the delicious flavors that make Colombian cuisine so special. What keeps me coming back is the combination of great food, excellent hospitality, and a comfortable atmosphere. If you're looking for authentic Colombian food in Plantation, Luka is definitely worth a visit. I highly recommend giving it a try because you won't be disappointed.

It was absolutely delicious and exactly what I was craving! There's something special about enjoying a traditional Colombian meal that brings together so many wonderful flavors on one plate. One of the biggest highlights of my visit was the exceptional service provided by Aura. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure I felt welcomed throughout my entire dining experience. Her hospitality truly stood out and made the visit even more enjoyable. I also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, especially the recently completed renovations. The updated space looks fantastic and gives the restaurant a fresh, inviting feel while maintaining its Colombian charm. Between the delicious Bandeja Paisa, Aura's outstanding service, and the beautiful renovations, El Balcón de las Américas left a lasting impression on me. I'll definitely be returning and highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!

The beans were really good and were the best of the side orders. You can also add chorizo or morcilla (blood sausage) for an additional $2 which is worth it if you want the traditional full experience. There was no host at the front when we arrived so we seated ourselves. After a few minutes, a waitress came over, took our order and kept things moving. Service wasn't overly warm but it was efficient and consistent. This is a casual straightfoward colombian spot nothing fancy.

We were told to sit anywhere, which was fine, but then we ordered 2 waters and a passion fruit margarita and waited almost 30 minutes just to get them. On top of that, the drink order was wrong. She served us what tasted like salty mango juice -- and I say "juice" because there was absolutely no alcohol in it. Then we ordered a simple meal: a few chicken tacos, pork tacos, and an order of chicharrón. Somehow that still took 30-45 minutes, and the order was missing items when it finally arrived. That's crazy for an order of 4 chicken tacos and 4 pork tacos. The tacos honestly weren't even that good either. The only thing that was actually good was the chicharrón. People always say "good food takes time," and sure, that's understandable when a restaurant is busy. But this place wasn't even halfway full. There were plenty of open tables inside and outside, so the wait made no sense -- especially considering the food wasn't worth it.
