Went here for probably the 10th time over the last couple of years. Food is steadily fairly good. I ordered the chicken aristocrata. It normally comes with an odd tasting sauce that is a mixture of marinara sauce and Alfredo sauce. I requested that it be made with only Alfredo sauce. When the bill came, they charged me for not adding the marinara sauce to the Alfredo sauce claiming that it was a substitution. If you read these reviews Mr Luigi.... Recent had a late lunch. Ordered Chicken Picata which is my favorite. The chicken was not only over cooked and tough the breast were very irregular in shape, making me think they were frozen like you buy at a grocery store. Our bread was cold and very tough. Asked for fresh and it was softer but also cold. Our server said "sorry about this". Didn't ask manager to come to our table. Very disappointed and won't be returning. We went here with a group from church and could not get bread warm enough to melt butter. We waited for over an hour to get food. A table of 4 adults and 2 kids came in after us were almost ready to leave before we even saw our food . Then incense we got it my husbands steak was cooked rare instead Of medium but not gonna send it back after it taking an hour when we asked to speak to the manager, his excuse was we make food as it is ordered and we only keep steak around for those customers that want it . Finally just told him this was our first time here and we will not be returning nor will I be paying for the sad excuse of steak or pasta we were served. We were back in the Daingerfield area for our annual anniversary RV trip. Of course we had to go to Luigi's for our anniversary dinner! My wife insisted on it! She absolutely loves their lasagna. It's made exactly like she likes it. After being seated we were greeted with a basket of warm "garlic knots" rolls. YUMMY! Our salads soon arrived. Luigi's house dressing is a tomato based Italian like so many of the Italian restaurants serve. Luigi's is much better, there's more of an Italian kick to it. Of course my wife ordered the lasagna and I ordered the salmon piccata. After a short wait our steaming hot entrees were delivered. My wife had to wait a bit since her lasagna was SO hot. She took one bite and a smile came across her face. She was a very happy girl! My salmon piccata was incredible. The entree had a huge piece of salmon that I was barely able to finish. Luigi's is BYOB. We had that covered by bringing a bottle of wine from our RV. I wish Luigi's was closer to Fort Worth, we'd be dining there all the time. read more

We always enjoy our food from Luigi's! This is a solid, local Italian place that always serves fresh, hot food. The service is always nice as friendly. Our favorites are the chicken Parmesan (a little hint, it is amazing if you substitute the marinara sauce for their Alapana sauce!!) the Alapana sauce is basically their version of a vodka sauce and it's amazing. I like their chicken piccata, they use a lot of capers which I love. The Siciliano is also very good. We have had the Bobs dip, which is also very good. It's an olive oil bread dip on steroids, which tomatoes, onion, and garlic!! read more

This may not be a chain Italian restaurant but it is a great local restaurant that always puts out a good plate. The bread is delicious. And I highly recommend anything with the Alapana sauce. It's a combo of Alfredo and Marinara that kind of tastes like creamy tomato soup. The neat is dipping the bread in that sauce! Yum. read more

I'm sorry I waited so long to update this. I moved a couple of years ago but had returned several times and had a much different experience. My last visit was very memorable. It was following my mother's funeral and I was with several of my cousins that I don't get together with all at once very often. We all walked in at once and the staff caught the ball and ran with it. Putting together a nice big table for us. It all worked out. Food was ordered and although it took some time they handled it great considering we just all jumped in at once. I discovered they didn't have any bar service, which really surprised me. But they said you can BYOB there. I wasn't willing to drive to a grocery store for wine and beer but low and behold my cousin Patricia saved they day with a bottle of wine and six-pack of craft beer she just happened to have in her SUV. Luigi's brought us wine and pint glasses also. We stayed all night catching up and visiting and never once felt pressured to move on. Now, it's not near the best Italian food I have had but it was much improved from my first visit and little ole Mount Pleasant is lucky to have them. I have heard from several the pizza is really good there. Unfortunately, I'm never coming back to MP so I won't find out. If you live close you should give Luigi's a whirl. read more

We've been to Luigi's twice now when visiting family. Both times, it has been wonderful. The bread they bring out before the meal is delicious! Service has always been friendly and fairly quick, and I've always been happy with my food. On our last visit, I got the sausage pizzaiola, and it was quite tasty. I had leftovers, which I expected (the portions are pretty generous), but I was surprised when my bottomless-pit teenager had part of his pizza left over! Initially when we walked in, it took us a while to be seated. The older man (I believe the owner), decided to finish stacking and cleaning menus before showing us to a seat. Then, a waitress walked by our table 3 times doing a task before she decided to help us. I was surprised when she stopped because I figured she was working on cleaning/rolling silverware or whatever. When I realized she was our waitress, it kind of aggravated me that she had just walked past us so many times to finish her other tasks first. She didn't even stop to get our drink order during that time. We had a calamari appetizer which was great. The calamari were crisp and the marinara was good with a nice tang. My husband had a seafood dish with mussels, shrimp, clams, etc., and I had the lobster ravioli. There was very little lobster. Maybe 5-6 tiny pieces total. The ravioli was just ricotta cheese ravioli - bland and slightly cold inside. My husbands dish was better, but still rather bland. When we left, 3 of the staff members continued to sit at their little table and stare at us waiting to pay, rather than come help. I assume only the owner manages the cash register. However, it took quite a while for him to come and none of the staff left their chat to go notify him that we were waiting. The decor is bleak, old, and dreary. The staff seems to mirror the atmosphere of the place. It's not a warm environment to me. The food was okay - pretty greasy though. It was nothing that was good enough to make me come back considering the poor service. If you're looking to have a pleasant night out with helpful, happy staff and ownership, to have a nice meal that won't leave you with a stomach ache from being overly greasy, and an atmosphere that is welcoming and lively, I wouldn't go here. read more

DINNER WITH ROCKY BALBOA. This is a tough one. I can see why people like it, but I cant ignore that I do not like the recipes. The Caesar salad dressing was astringent with a thin taste. To the last bite one eye screwed shut at the acidity. Sour and overpowering. We had spaghetti and a sampler of lasagne, cannelloni and one other. The one other did not matter because the heavy acidity of the sauce overpowered all other flavors and textures. I could taste nor feel neither pasta nor cheese. It was like eating a strong tomato-based sloppy Joe without the bun. Same for the spaghetti because the noodles were overcooked and flavorless. The sauce was high-quality with much meat, but delivered a punch. The rolls were outstanding but need to be served with a saucer of olive oil and Balsamic, not butter. I have eaten here many times through out the years even before it was in the current location. I recently was introduced to the Lobster Ravioli. Tonight my friend and I both decided that was what we wanted. Not pleased with the service waiting for bread, to go box, and receipt while the waiter cleaned, talked on his cell phone and to the other person working there. Then was even more displeased with the Lobster Ravioli as it was shrimp instead of lobster. I did not go to the register to complain, only to pay and leave. When the owner asked me how was everything I replied, "ok". He respond, "ok or good"? To which I ask, "well is the Lobster Ravioli supposed to have shrimp"? He says it is lobster, 16 years no complaints it is made from scratch in an offended manner. Makes sense right? Lobster Ravioli is supposed to be Lobster. So I showed him the shrimp and he said don't get it with your hands that's lobster and looked away. Unfortunately, no it was not lobster and I told him I only inform you because you pressed was it ok or good. I enjoyed the sauce which was still good but with everything else I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Have driven past this place numerous times but it's on the opposite side of town from me. Favorite oldest daughter is in town for a visit so asked her if she wanted to give it a try with me. First thing I noticed was calamari on the appetizer menu. I love them when they're done right and I've had them all across the Mediterranean from Spain to Greece. We both decided to give them a try and I have to say they are the best I've had here stateside in many, many years! Lightly breaded with just the right amount of texture/snap to each bite, not rubbery at all, nor were they real oily. Went great with the marinara provided and the serving size would have been sufficient for 3-4 people. The bread provided before the meal was very tasty as well. Soft and warm. Wish they had real butter as opposed to the typical margarine single serve tiny containers with peel tops. My daughter ordered the Veal parmigiana and it came as a huge breaded cutlet on a pile of spaghetti with plenty of sauce and cheese. More than enough for her meal tonight and a full lunch tomorrow! I had the pasta trio with lasagna, ravioli and manicotti. The dish/serving size was substantially smaller than my daughter's portion but was quite adequate for my meal and I left feeling stuffed. The meal was delicious but it was very heavy on sauce and very light on pasta. The baked cheese covering was very nice! I had no idea they had been doing business for almost 16 years. I will be going back and they will now be my selection when I just gotta have Italian food. read more
