The ambience is good the service is good and they have a salad bar and the food is so good

Best place I ever went today. Cook it so fast they have really good food and I think it's the best catfish place ever best place in the world of catfish but toilets don't lock but the cashiers are funny sometimes read more

Across the board-the most consistent food in MP. While the quality of food in 99% of Mt Pleasants eateries has has went to absolute crap this place has retained its quality. 5/5. Only one complaint...please bring back the cornmeal batter on the fried oysters, they used to be Sooo good! read more

Sonya the Manager runs one excellent eating establishment. If other restaurants would follow her style and leadership, they would succeed. I just can't say enough about this amazing women . Stop by and enjoy a wonderful lunch . Tell her Pickle Juice I sent you . read more

Maybe more friendly hostess maybe she needed to go home who knows she might've not said nothing but her looks said it all the oysters were horrible. Save your money. read more

They've taken away the good hushpuppies again. That was the A#1 thing that set them apart from other catfish places, IMHO. If they are charging $0.59 for each one, how much more could it possibly cost them to just sell the good ones?!? read more

Best catfish buffet in TX; we have loved CK for years! NOT ON I-30, but worth a detour into the small town of Mt Pleasant. Crispy dry catfish, at a good price, after a delightful salad bar. Order at the counter; get a number and find a seat. Serve yourself drinks and salad bar. When the food arrives, you will thank me for steering you here! Simple perfection!! read more

I love this place but the one in east Texas is the best one. It still has the salad bar which the others don't. It's a perfect salad bar. Food is so good an cooked to order. Fresh salad bar always. read more

Went into Catfish King on Mother's Day with another group. There were 7 of us, and 5 in the other group. Well, all of the tables were full. So, we know that they have an overflow dining room and we asked if they were going to open it up so that we could be seated and eat, but the boy on duty said, "We mopped that dining room earlier so no, we aren't going to open that up. I guess you folks are out of luck." What??!!! So, the workers ran us out of there. No apologies and no trying. Horrific customer service! read more

fish was not catfish was chewie and not flakey. also more crust than fish. the frinchfries were sogey like they were reheated. survice was grate but dose not make up for bad food at over pricing. read more

Well I hope you don't go bankrupt, about 10 people in the restaurant during lunch on a week day, and about 5 cars in the parking lot. Denied us to eat!, very rude!! We won't be back! We didn't have a mask!! How ridiculous to walk in with a mask on walk 10 feet , sit down take the mask off, eat then walk out!!! What I don't understand is why you think you won't get infected while you are eating but once you stand up! You can get it?!?!? That is the stupidest thing I have ever experienced!! So, we went to another restaurant with no problem, walked right in ordered sit down and ate! No one said a word!! We won't be back to catfish king!!! You probably won't be in business if you keep this up!! We have been all over central Texas the last several days and we were never refused service and most people didn't even have a mask on!! read more

My wife and I were staying at Daingerfield State Park for an 8 day stay. A Toastmasters club meets at Catfish King every Tuesday evening. (My wife and I are avid Toastmasters.) My wife ordered the senior chicken strips and I ordered the senior catfish. Both of our entrees were very good. My wife said the chicken strips were some of the best she'd eaten in a long time. My catfish was very good and ample on the plate. Both of our plates came with french fries and cole slaw. We had a super yummy dinner. The restaurant's staff was super friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stop into eat again when we're in the area. read more

The food was hot and the service was excellent! The salad bar area looked clean and a lot of good choices!

Excellent customer service and friendly staff. The credit card machine had a chip malfunction. The manager worked with my husband to resolve the issue, refunding the payment after his bank notified us it would take 31 days to reverse the transaction. I had the #2 meal. It was delicious. I would recommend the salad bar also! read more

This is the worst Catfish King I have ever eaten at. My baked potato was cold. There was no flesh inside the fish it was dried out. I sent it back and what the brought to replace it wasn't much better. Completely disappointing. read more

do not know where these people were from, but have gone there for the time that it was built until now, and i have never found one that serves you better food, such great service, or a place so clean and well kept. their restrooms are one of the few places in our town that you can go into and know that they will be clean for customer service. the managers do their best to see that you have anything possible to make your visit an enjoyable trip that you can take your family , and not worry about how it looks or how you are treated. their fish is great, and chicken fried steak is the best in this town. their fries or baked potatoes are both hot and freash at all times. and their whole menu of foods are all the best you have eaten or they make it right! thank you to the managers and employes that work there, we appreciate you all. fred harkrider jr. read more

Catfish King - 4 pc catfish - Seafood Near Me - Mount Pleasant, Texas

I was very disappointed in this restaurant... The lady that waited on us literally dumped our food on the table and was very rude... And the food was not very good either. read more

Love this fish, salad bar is awesome, the cooks in the back deserve tips!!!! They are hard working ladies and deserve to be treated with some kindness! read more

Me and my family went here for lunch around 1pm one Saturday. There was a decent amount of people there so the food should have been fresh. The catfish was super dry and the fried shrimp was chewy like they cooked it way in advance and set it under a lamp to keep it warm. The hushpuppies had no flavor other than cornmeal. We ate the food but the only thing we enjoyed at all was the fries (they were actually fresh). All in all we will not be visiting again. read more

Tried this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered catfish and shrimp. They both were delivered and tasted as if cooked at home, actually better than I cook. Really tasty. read more

Ate at Catfish King later in the evening on a weeknight. My catfish and oysters were cooked upon ordering, not prior, so at least everything was freshly prepared. The catfish was lightly dusted with meal, but well overcooked to the point of being chewy. I was not expecting fresh, unfrozen catfish, but don't cook it to death! The oysters were fair size and cooked correctly despite a thick meal. Had green beans and a baked potato as sides. The beans were school cafeteria-grade, and the potato was fair except for the fact that it came bare and you had to add butter, cheese, and something pretending to be bacon bits at the salad bar. Sour cream came in a condiment packet. The salad bar was very "tired" by this point in the day. Nothing was fresh, and nothing had been replenished in quite a while. It was not appetizing at all. The kids working the place were polite, but they were cleaning up and stacking chairs as if to close early at 8p when they were supposed to be open until 9p. read more

I will never eat here again!! The fish not only tasted like nasty lake water but they had a lot of small bones in them!! The hush puppies were not to bad at all! Good luck if you decide to eat here!! read more

Not a fan of the Catfish King...being from the Deep South where catfish is indeed king, this catfish was a complete disappointment. Catfish was of the flash frozen variety, so dried out that it changed the texture of the catfish and thus the lack of flavor. Frozen, stale, bland hush puppies. The French fries were limp, and chewy, tasted like yesterday's leftovers that had been reheated. Salad bar had adequate choices, but it all tasted old as though it had been picked up, refrigerated and set out the next day. I could not finish my meal it was so unappealing. read more

Catfish King in Mt Pleasant is spotty. When it is good, it is very good, when it is bad it is terrible. You pays yo money, you takes yo chances. Ask for the fish well done unless you like catfish sushi. . read more

I really enjoy the catfish here. Most of the menu is fried, but they even that out with a small salad bar with some meals. The kid baskets come in a boat and include a coloring sheet, so that keeps the kids happy and occupied. The tarter sauce is pretty good, along with the hush puppies, which are the stick kind, not the balls. Overall, this is one of my top choices when I want fast seafood. Better than Long Johns and I prefer this place over the fish places out by the lake. read more

Love it. I make at least one stop there every time I pass through town. The people are very service-driven and the food is amazing.

You can't go wrong with Catfish King. A east Texas delicacy. Nothing special, just fried food.

The food here was TERRIBLE. Everything we had was tasteless!! The catfish bland, french fries soggy, the beans without flavor ... The pecan pie was Pre packaged Sara Lee! If this is one of this city's best go to the next place. What a waste of $ and time!! read more

The food was outstanding or else this would be 1-star review! I ordered the baked fish. It was a good portion & baked to perfection. The salad was good. The problem I have is that when we were paying for our food the lady at the register said they don't take AMEX. Okay, fine. I tried to explain that you can negotiate rates because I had just done that for our business that day & you can get a cheaper rate. She was so rude that she just cut me off and shoved the receipt at my husband. Then, she asked the next person in line what their order was while I was in mid-sentence. Believe me. I wasn't speaking long. She was just RUDE! When she called out the #s for subsequent orders she yelled it to the room like she was angry she had to find the patron to get their food to them. Two words for this person: Ol' BATTLEAXE! Get ready. I think she would be perfect for Dick's Last Resort where you expect to be insulted. Who know? Maybe she was just having a tough day. This was just our experience & hopefully, things will go better for everyone else. read more
