We have tried really hard to keep giving this restaurant chances because the food itself is actually very good, and my mom genuinely loves this place. We order takeout because she's older and has difficulty getting around, so takeout is easier for her. Unfortunately, almost every single takeout order we've placed has had an issue -- missing items, wrong items, forgotten desserts, etc. Tonight was the final straw. Once again, we got home and realized an item we paid for (our cake) was missing, so my husband had to drive all the way back to the restaurant while the rest of our food sat at home getting cold. My mom called to politely explain that this has been an ongoing issue, but the owner repeatedly talked over her instead of listening. I then got on the phone myself and stayed calm and respectful while trying to explain that this wasn't an isolated incident. While I was still speaking to her on the phone, my husband arrived at the restaurant to pick up the missing cake. According to him, after he walked in and explained he was there for the missing item, the owner tossed the phone onto the counter and told him to talk to me while she went to get the cake. Rather than finishing the conversation professionally, she walked away and left an employee to continue the call instead. I even respectfully asked the employee if I could please continue speaking with the owner because I genuinely wanted to calmly explain our concerns as long-time customers. I was not yelling or being disrespectful. However, I was repeatedly refused and the owner would not come back to the phone. When my husband received the cake, the interaction became even more unprofessional. According to him, the cake was tossed onto the counter from several feet away hard enough that the lid popped open. At that point, tensions were understandably high on both sides. The frustrating part is that we were never calling looking for handouts, free food, or anything extra. We genuinely wanted to make the owner aware of recurring problems that continue happening with takeout orders because we actually liked supporting this restaurant and wanted things to improve. I fully understand restaurants get busy and mistakes happen sometimes. But when the same issues happen repeatedly, and customer concerns are met with defensiveness, avoidance, and hostility instead of accountability or even a simple apology, it becomes extremely frustrating. We truly wanted to continue supporting this place because we did enjoy the food, but after tonight's experience, we won't be returning. *UPDATE* I would like to respectfully clarify a few inaccuracies in your response. This is actually my first time ever leaving a review for your restaurant. I also checked my Google review history, and there are no Google reviews from me for your business. Additionally, the situation you referenced from four months ago involving sauce was not me either. I consistently order the same meal each time - the Tour with extra fettuccine, extra rolls, and dessert, so I believe there may be confusion with another customer. My mother was polite during the phone call and was simply trying to explain that we have experienced repeated issues with missing items from our takeout orders over time. From the beginning of the conversation, however, the interaction immediately felt defensive, and we were repeatedly talked over instead of being allowed to explain the concern. When I got on the phone, I also remained respectful and calm. I repeatedly tried to explain that this was not simply about one dessert, but about a recurring pattern of issues with our takeout orders. I even politely asked multiple times to please let me explain because I genuinely felt unheard during the conversation. I also want to clarify that the employee did not sound as though he was "almost in tears," nor did my husband observe that while he was inside the restaurant. Throughout the interaction, I even offered to call back later or wait until you were available because I genuinely wanted to have a calm and respectful conversation regarding the ongoing concerns. At no point were we looking for free food, compensation, or handouts. We were simply trying to make you aware of recurring issues because we genuinely enjoyed supporting your restaurant and hoped those issues would improve. I fully understand mistakes happen in restaurants. What made this experience disappointing was not just the missing item itself, but the way the concerns were handled afterward. Do not let the small sign and dark windows fool you, this is the spot for authentic and delicious Italian cuisine--and in all places, yes, Leavenworth, KS! We had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table, but it went quick. We were sat with the best server that kept our water glasses full and checked on us regularly. I checked out the menu and decided to go with the spinach lasagna and minestrone to start. If I would have known how large the soup was I would have just gone with the lasagna! The minestrone was very healthy on the tomato, but topped with tons of vegetables! It was pipping hot, so it made it difficult to eat right away. Once it cooled down it was so delicious! This was not your canned Minestrone soup! So full of flavor and not super salty. I could have just had this as a meal, so I tried to save some room for my spinach lasagna. Wow and wow and wow! Again a very large portion that did not skip on flavor or seasoning. Every bite was so amazing! I only got a few bites in before my stomach told me to stop! Great beer selection...good food. I went to meet up with a colleague of mine, and it was a good spot for it at 5p.m. on a Friday. The service was great. Our server, Bryce, got to us pretty quickly, allowed us to think our orders and got us our drinks and refills. He was great. The ambiance is pretty nice. Not overly quiet and naturally lit. There are various sizes tables, a front dining area, a space in the back for larger groups, and a bar. I had the Luigi special. It was a spaghetti pasta with marinara sauce and lots of meat. The portion was pretty good sized. More than enough for 1.5 stomachs - very generous. There a lot of parking both lot and street parking for patrons of Luigi's. Great experience. read more

If you are looking for a solid dining option in Leavenworth I would recommend Luigi's 418! The menu is extensive and customer service was on point. We dined in for my birthday as we were looking for a kid friendly restaurant that had options my boys would enjoy too. We ordered a variety of items, but the tour really stood out! I love a variety plate. The portions were also so large we ended up taking home another meal just in leftovers. The fresh bread and oil dip served with our meal was also amazing. Everyone loved it. Good news first: Lovely service, intriguing menu, good gluten free options, creamy and delicious blue cheese dressing on the Italian side salads, comfortable but a tad noisy atmosphere, and a great variety of beers....all good. However, I am a spaghetti carbonara aficionado of sorts....and have mastered my own recipe as well. When you are truly hungry, there is no food as heavenly! Luigi's had it as a special, which normally means it is a dish the chef is particularly proud of. However, the sauce which makes carbonara is not an Alfredo Sauce, nor can it be made with tiny bacon bits. Angel Hair pasta is not the best option either. I was really hungry, and I was a bit disappointed. The chef's idea of mixing Marinara with Alfredo Sauce is creative but a fail: it erases the good notes of each, and leaves us with an unpleasant result. I applaud the effort though! read more

In terms of Leavenworth, this is a solid option. I wouldn't say the food is at the level of other Italian establishments in Kansas City, but if you're in the mood and don't want to drive down south, Luigi's is for you. The bread service and my side salad arrived very quickly. The side salad had a great lettuce blend and some veggie toppings which I really appreciated. The bread service left some to be desired - the vinaigrette to dip in was good, but the bread reminded me more of a Hawaiian roll with garlic on top. Dinner portions were HUGE and could easily be shared or brought home for another meal. My chicken piccata was good, though I was surprised when it came out with the chicken already chopped and tossed into the dish. The vibe and crowd on Saturday night was definitely "date night" though there were a few families there. Service was fine but felt a little rushed. This was frankly our 3rd stop trying to find open or seating in Leavenworth on a Friday night. Seated immediately, tables are spaced out ( we appreciated it as we had left a place before this that was definitely not the case). Service was prompt and friendly and it smelled fabulous inside. I ordered the baked meat ravioli and the other 2 in our party both ordered the chicken parmigiana. Rolls and a very seasoned oil were served. The ravioli was steaming but the cheese not meat ... I was given a dessert to go in the house so that was nice. Portions are big! Everything was flavorful-although none of us could finish the portions... lol. We showed up one hour before we had to meet our group for a friend's daughter's play which was two blocks away. Figured we'd have plenty of time for a nice pizza dinner with our hungry grandson. Immediately were seated outside as requested ordered our drinks and a large supreme pizza within minutes. 35 minutes later no food and no one to check on us! I went in to check and they told us 10 more minutes! 45 minutes to make a pizza?? Finally had our water and soda refilled (how hard is that?) but only after they delivered our pizza....which was the wrong one from which we ordered! Was told at least eight more minutes for dinner...by now we are starving and very upset! The waitress apologized. Five minutes before we were to meet with our group I informed the waitress we were leaving to where she apologized and said she would say something to the manager. My first warning that things were not going to be great was when I asked the server if they made their own salad dressing. He told me no they do not, so I skipped ordering a salad. That should have been my first clue. My husband ordered chicken parm that was bland and mushy. My lasagna tasted maybe a step up from frozen Stouffers lasagna. Oh yes, we also ordered mozzarella sticks that we sent back due to the fact that they were cold, half cooked and very greasy. This place has a great family ambiance. Quiet enough for a date, but not so quiet you can't bring your little ones. The staff were quick and pleasant. Constantly checked on us as soon as we were seated. They have a decently robust menu--pretty normal meal choices for an Italian restaurant. I ordered the Seafood Ravioli, which is lobster ravioli, topped with shrimp. My meal came with 5 large ravioli and 2 pieces of shrimp. The reason for my 4/5 stars. The flavor was REALLY good. I've had this meal in other restaurants (in other towns) and this is by far the best tasting. My husband ordered the shrimp scampi, his came with 4 pieces of shrimp. We understand we are not going to receive heaping scoops of seafood, but when the title of the entree says "shrimp" or "seafood" my expectation is that they are the main characters on my plate. A reliable Italian establishment with large portions. The interior itself was laid out a little odd, and we were sat right next to another table when there was a lot of open space. I appreciated the bread service but the bread was lack luster in my opinion. They were more like sweet dinner rolls than crusty garlicky Italian bread. My house salad was fresh tasting and came out quickly. The main entree portions are huge! I enjoyed my main course with the breaded chicken and eggplant topped with mozzarella with a side of pasta with Rosa sauce. The pasta was slightly more cooked than I'd prefer and the food overall wasn't life changing but it was good. Prices were high for the area but fair given the portions provided. Luigi's restaurant is an absolute gem for a date night. The portions presented here will completely fill you up and they provide fantastic service. When our server, Chris, provided us with the original run of bread we were expecting standard Italian fair. From the beginning, we were absolutely blown away with the quality and quantity of food. The bread? Fantastic. Breaded mushrooms? Excellent? Mozzarella sticks? Fresh and among the best I've had anywhere. Between Chicken Parm and Chicken Alfredo, the taste was excellent. Combine this up with everything you need and top quality service, and you the night was set. Our server provided us options on desert - and the Cannoli was great. This atmosphere is great, the service is top notch, and the food is better than most place anywhere in the metro. There are places I've visited in New York that do not have the presentation and service provided at Luigi's, and that says something! I'm eager to give a try to some of the other great options on their menu, and look forward to a return visit. read more

Now onto the food, the lunch special forgot the name but it's a blend of white and tomatoe sauce with all the meat on the menu! Kids food was ok thought spaghetti was bland. The pizza was really good it wasn't the simple cheese pizza but had ricotta and one other cheese. The meal comes with complementary break and the balsamic vinegar mix they give you was great! I have just moved to Leavenworth from out of State. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. Actually love the place, but today I order lunch for several people for a business lunch. It arrived without the ordered side salads, Oh, but the dressings were there, no flatware and no napkins. I was charged for them so I called to get a credit, and the phone number at the top of the receipt was disconnected!! That was the final straw. Next time I order for meetings. Luigi's....short version: Exceptional meals, proper portion size, exceptional service, good atmosphere. Now, let's be fair here, they do have the monopoly in town so they can pretty much charge what they want, so they do! By no means am I saying the food is in any way poor quality, skimping on portion size, or excessively priced for that matter, as in honesty they may be slightly above what you are expecting but are reasonably fair. The service in this case started out rocky as they were unaware of the specials, but she ended up being exceptional. There were two beer specials this evening, but they ran out of one, yet still had it listed on the "chalkboard". Overall, this is a very good place to get a bite of Italian, just upset they were out of the beer. :( read more

Had a catered dinner from there last night. Food was warm, but tasteless. Salad had green and brown leaves. Strange. Linguini alfredo was blah, needed more flavor. Rolls were warm, but no dipping sauce or butter. Parmesan was very nice. Not the stuff with the green top. Vegan rigatoni needed something, maybe garlic and onion, to make it tasty. So on August 2nd wife and I ordered takeout. I got the gluten free Sausage Pepper Parmigiana. It wasnt supposed to have pasta but it was made with spaghetti (like the original). The sausage looked like it was mangled not sliced. Even the sauce tasted off. Left a bad aftertaste. Now being fair, I have had the original before several times and it has always tasted much better. My wife ordered the Veggie Chicken Alfredo. The spinach was clumpe in one pile. The "alfredo sauce " looked like it was made with skim milk. It was very runny and not flavorful. We could have gotten a better Alfredo sauce from a jar. She had to doctor it before eating it. I don't know what changed but they need to fix it. We normally order food from here at least once a month and the food always tasted good. Please fix it. read more

Luigi's is one of the nicer restaurants in the area. I really like the space itself - low lighting is great, and the brick walls paired with the gray paint, plus the decor all go together nicely. It definitely feels like a good spot for a weekend date night without going all the way to downtown KC. The food is also delicious and very reasonably priced. I often dine with a pickier eater and he has always been able to find several things on the menu he likes. I think the bread served could be better, as it appears to just be toasted burger buns, but the olive oil mixture served with it is so yummy it makes up for it a bit. Tonight I tried the Moscow mule and it was delicious. The service has also always been good. Tonight our server was Jaylen and he was fantastic. The thing I cannot get over is that every time I walk into this restaurant, for which so much care and effort has been taken to create a classic, romantic feel, I am met with the sounds of country music circa 2015-2023. It is not super loud, per se, but it is noticeable to where it distracts from the mood and makes it difficult to carry on a conversation. I am not a country music hater, but why would you go to all the effort to create such a beautiful atmosphere and take such care with decor and table settings, and then play music that in no way, shape, or form represents the restaurant. It's such a shame. I would've given it 5 stars but the bread needs to be better, and I just cannot understand why anyone would think it's a good idea to play country music in that setting. First of all from the hostess to our waiter, staff was great. It's a little confusing checking in. Let me explain. First they don't take reservations unless you have a party of 10. I find this weird. After I gave the hostess my name, we decided to belly up to the bar for a drink since the waiting area was a little crowded. (Who am I kidding? I was going to the bar regardless.) But yes there was hardly room at the front for people who were waiting for a table. And then couples were being seated at the bar for dinner even though there were plenty of tables. The wait was ridiculously long, I feel like. Once again with multiple tables open. Which is probably why there were dates eating dinner at the bar. Then it felt weird crowding people who were eating. The only other issue was with the wine list. They only list the type of wine (Merlot, Chianti, Chardonnay) No list of wine brands. So I had to go up to the display shelf to go through the wines. and I didn't bring my glasses of course. (What? I don't like California wines or most of the people there either). The shelving is right next to the kitchen entrance with the waitstaff coming in and out I kept having to avoid them. Once we got that settled and sat down to eat. The food was fantastic. read more
