However, on the day of moving out, when the I and the movers went in we found out 60% of my boxes was soaking wet and moldy. The roof is leaking! So all my properties are damaged. Including leather goods, furniture, clothes and electronics. Now I have to spend money to get rid of my belongings as they are moldy and wet. I called their customer service and the lady answered the phone only lightly said "oh well I don't know what to said" and she passed me an insurance clam #. Now, I am dealing with the insurance. I know this things happened but I think this should be preventable if the business plans their operational expenses on regular maintenance. Also, I was never able to contact any staff on site. I want to like this place but no, I am just very disappointed. You think it is safe to keep your stuff there but no, you are paying for a leak roof.

First, the positives. The hospitality was excellent. The valet team, front desk staff, and bellman were all genuinely welcoming and helpful, which always sets the tone for a stay. The hotel is also in a great location if you're in town for an Astros game. They even sell **Houston Astros merch in the lobby, which is a fun touch for baseball fans. The lobby itself felt a little lackluster compared to some other downtown hotels, but it would still be a convenient place to grab a drink before heading to the stadium. Our bellman mentioned that our room was part of the recent renovations, and it definitely felt updated. The color palette was fresh and clean, and the room itself was spacious. The bedding was comfortable, but the unexpected standout feature was the ceiling fan. You don't see that in many hotel rooms, but it made a big difference. We didn't have to blast the AC to stay comfortable--it kept the room cool all night. Although we didn't dine at the hotel, we did walk across the parking lot to Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse for dinner (review to follow), which was extremely convenient. For transparency on price, our weekend total came to about $2,000, although that did include roughly $300 from dinner at Vic & Anthony's. Overall takeaway: The stay was perfectly fine for a last-minute trip, and the friendly staff plus updated rooms were definite positives. That said, if I were planning a Houston trip further in advance, there are probably a few other downtown hotels I'd consider first. Still, for convenience near the ballpark and a quick weekend stay, it worked. Quick Tips for Future Guests: * Great location if you're attending an Astros game * Ask if your room is in the renovated section * The ceiling fan in the room is a surprisingly great feature for sleeping comfortably * Easy walk to Vic & Anthony's Steakhouse if you're looking for a nice steakhouse dinner nearby

We shared a margarita pizza to start, then had the Thai salad with shrimp and the Greek salad with steak. We checked in on a Friday and surprisingly, it didn't feel like we were in Houston anymore. One of the biggest perks of booking through Amex Travel as a Platinum Card member was the daily breakfast for two (up to $60), a $100 hotel credit that we used towards room service, and other Fine Hotels + Resorts perks like early check in and late checkout. Few things about the hotel: -The lobby is modern and stylish, without feeling too pretentious. It has a great energy whether you're checking in or relaxing at the bar, which is right next to it.. The staff was also welcoming, and the check-in process was easy. -Our room was equally impressive. Gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows that let in plenty of natural light. We were also on the highest floor so it made it that much more captivating. The room felt spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom had that luxury hotel feel with a large shower, and nice finishes. Everything felt clean and well-maintained. -The foods we ordered via room service were all good, especially the salmon dish. -Valet is $60 per night, which is pretty standard for luxury hotels in Houston, but it's something to factor into the overall cost of your stay. Not sure why parking in general is so expensive but that irked me. Overall, the Thompson met my expectations. I'd absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a weekend escape without leaving the city.

I had a prenatal facial done on Friday July 10th. Morgan at the spa front desk charged me for the wrong guests ticket that cost ($330.98) Not only did she charge me incorrectly, she also made me pay for my own service ($287.26). Morgan said she took off the first charge but when I went to the lobby's front desk they had to reprint the correct invoice. We are ammex card holders so they said we should get $60 credit every morning for breakfast, and a $100 credit to use on the property. I am seeing they haven't applied those credits. We had dinner at Chardon for my birthday on July 11th and watched police take out a group of people from the pool area who were upset because they were cut off from drinking. We also saw another couple escorted out of Chardon because they thought the manager was being racist. I don't think that was the case, but it was extremely chaotic at this point. I felt like I was watching a carnival cruise YouTube video. I also had to call in and complain multiple time because our neighbors on our floor were extremely loud and obnoxious. There was security sent up on Friday night for that as well. I never got to enjoy the pool area because each time we tried to go out, there was no space/chairs to sit. I won't be returning to this hotel, at this price point there shouldn't be problems like these.
