The wash…read morewas good, I have long hair so some salons tend to miss out on the wash, and the hair cut was exactly what I wanted. Reasonably priced, it includes hair wash, cut and blow dry. Unlike some salons where these services are a la carte. They offer beverages - water, coffee/tea, hard seltzer :) Their online appt portal didn't let me book an eyebrow wax, I asked if they can accommodate me and they were happy to include that after my hair service. My eyebrows were taken care by Alaina, again very friendly. I had some corrections after and she fixed them to my liking. Ambience, hospitality of the staff and the beverage selection makes this salon feel very luxurious. As a POC I'm sometimes concerned about the salons I chose to visit, this is a place I'd go back and feel welcomed.

I came in a hot…read moremess with several different bands of color: orange, brown, natural root, brassy yellow highlights and a grown out, unflattering cut. I showed Ellie like 15 different goal pics, and a confusing, oxymoronic explanation of what I wanted. Well, Ellie understood me perfectly and when she dried the first section of my hair my jaw was on the floor. I told her I just wanted to look like me again (natural dishwater blonde, which is hard to nail with color). Her color combo was perfect, the application was flawless, and now 4 days later my hair still feels so healthy, bouncy, and full of life. I have gotten a ton of compliments from people who stated it was the best color application they've ever seen. Hands down worth every penny. If you're looking for your next stylist, I highly recommend Ellie.

Trust the process, and trust Rev. Billy with all of your hair care needs…read more I know it is time for a new headshot whenever I reach a critical mass of people at work saying, "Wow, you look so much different than your photo!" when I turn on my camera for a Zoom meeting. Reviewing my headshot proofs this past week have made me reflect on what an incredible job my stylist, Rev. Billy, has done with my hair over the past 8 years. My natural hair is a dark, dark brown - practically black! The morning of a milestone birthday (no hints but it ended in zero), I decided I wanted to look like Silver Sable from The Amazing Spider-Man issue #265. Rev. Billy was amiable to my whims, and explained patiently and scientifically that going from naturally (and practically) black hair to white hair had to be done gradually so as not to cause all my hair to fall out. I was not familiar with this, as Billie Eilish explaining to People Magazine it took her months to become blonde had not been made mainstream yet. Rev. Billy was so incredibly careful and considerate, prioritizing the health and strength of my hair was first and foremost. "Trust the process!" I was told, and trusting that process paid off 100%. You can see that going from (practically) black hair to white hair IS a process. The strength and health of my hair was never compromised. And because Rev. Billy took such good care of it, I never ONCE had any of my hair fall out. Photos 1 and 2 are from May 4, 2019, the day I first began my white/blonde-haired journey. Photo #5 was taken February 25, 2021, the day I decided I wanted to grow my hair out. Photo #12 (my latest headshot) was taken June 17, 2023. Because Rev. Billy took such good care of my hair, I have been able to explore all different sorts of hair journeys. Including my most recent journey - which has been to grow my hair out as long as I possibly can. Or at least until my next milestone birthday ends in a zero where I will probably chop it all off and start again. All this to say, my hair is living proof of the benefits that come with taking your time and being patient with the process. Rev. Billy's Chop Shop has taken such good care of me, and I have been so fortunate to have Rev. Billy as my stylist always taking great care of my hair while making me look fabulous every step of the way. Seriously check them out if you are considering a change yourself - they will take great care of you! I know I cannot wait for my appointment next week

I agree with all recent reviews that they have strict rules. They might kick you out if you argue…read morewith them. My hairstylist did great job working on my coarse hair three times. I asked her if she's ok with my specific request and she said ok to take time to figure things out. After a haircut, I tried to make extra appointment for touch up and they said they are going to charge $100 for another haircut because it's over a week. I asked them for a smaller charge since it's only about 10 days. The front desk talked to my stylist and she got back to me to make another appointment and we'll discuss the price. Then the owner called me and said the stylist did not want to cut my hair and I need to cancel the appointment. I think it's bullshit because I was checking in with her often, and she let me make another touchup appointment. I think the owner doesn't want anyone who tries to bend their rules. They represent themselves kind of artsy and free spirit, contrary they are super strict on rules and not accepting everyone.

Second, Rachel is amazing with cut and color. I first met her when she was the hair stylist for a wedding I was in and I decided to give her a shot with cut and color. Even better, she's given me lovely balyage, which more recently includes babylights to camouflage my new grey hairs. And she does it so that it grows out beautifully and naturally so I can get away with longer intervals between color refreshes. She is a hair genius and worth every penny!

Perhaps I'll start by…read moreexplaining my "bias", though this "bias" is shaped from the truth of the awesomeness of owner/ stylist Lori Lindsay, her staff, and the shop (including her great dog, Harley!) My respect, love, and total trust of Lori stems from knowing her as my stylist since 1990 and having never gotten a haircut/ styling from anyone else in those 24 years. (I think that speaks for itself! Even when I lived up in Wauconda in the late 90's, I would make special trips to Chicago to get haircuts from Lori...) Lori worked for another shop then, when I first met her; I then followed her, and her friendly, skilled manner, to another shop; and now, best of all, to where she owns her own shop, Lindsay Station, for the past several years. Going there is an exercise in comfort. Lori and the other stylists make you feel at home right away. Whether it's for color, perms, or just a styling-of-your-choice, Lori and the rest of the staff will treat you to ample doses of friendliness, attentiveness, skill, and respect. What more can I say? Lindsay Station ROCKS! I would never go anywhere else...and I don't.
