I vacation on LBI each summer and we discovered Lucky's day care last summer. WOW! We love this place. Greeted happily each time on arrival by the ladies at the front desk. I love how the front desk will ask how Frazier is feeling today, if he would like any treats or food, or a blanket/pillow at rest time. WOW! Such attention!! Once all records updated online, it is a easy breezy check in. The place is immaculate. I especially like how an attendant comes out to greet and bring your dog into the daycare. Our boxer goes in happily. If he didn't want to go, believe me, we would know! When we pick up our pup, he looks tired but well exercised and happy. The best is the report card given (which indicates he is being well looked after) and includes a special pup treat. I have had 2 summers of great experiences and I hope to have more!!!!!! In reference to some of the negative experiences I read, it is a shame they could not experience and enjoy what Lucky's has to offer. Personally, I do not think their daycare rate for half and full day is "pricey" AT ALL! I am from NY and the prices there are a bit higher. Specialty photos are offered and their price is a few $$ less than back home. Finally, regarding kennel cough complaints, it can happen in any environment when dogs are together. Especially when dog owners are careless to address the matter efficiently or wait the suggested 2 weeks after the last cough to re-enter their pup with others. IMO, I believe it is careless to blame a daycare AFTER they warn there was an outbreak. Or to point a finger when your pup stayed only one night in boarding. Symptoms of kennel cough typically appear within 3 to 10 days AFTER exposure, but can range from 2 days to 2 weeks. Lucky's Bed and Bisquit has proven they are a well operated, caring dog care. Unfortunately, cannot please everyone. But to "slam" the establishment foolishly is shameful. read more

My baby had an amazing time, and I couldn't be happier with the videos that were shared on Facebook. It was clear she was well cared for and had so much fun. However, after coming home from her overnight "sleepover," she developed a severe kennel cough. As much as I loved seeing how much my dog enjoyed her stay, her health always comes first. I hope Lucky's can strengthen its screening and illness policies to help reduce the risk of contagious dogs attending daycare or overnight stays. I understand illnesses can happen, but I believe taking extra precautions would help protect everyone's pets. read more

I rarely write reviews, but I just wanted to take a minute to rave about this place. I have had issues in the past with other places I have boarded my 3 year old German shepherd mix, Lambeau. He's a bit of a nervous nellie and can be anxious in the wrong in environments. When I had a vacation planned in the area for a few days, we decided to give this place a try and I cannot say enough good things about my experience. This place is immaculate, the staff are professional and kind and put me right at ease when I went for a tour ahead of my pup's stay. Also, check out their shop they have a ton of toys, treats, and apparel. I really like that they ask a lot of questions before boarding and they even followed up to ask additional questions before I left him in their care to ensure that he would be taken care of based on his personality and specific needs. I live in Staten Island and although Lucky's is not close, I will be indefinitely using their amazing facility if I have to board my best friend. Very pricey and the staff won't let you watch your dog interact with other dogs and staff. They insisted that due to Covid no one can go beyond the door to view your pet thru the window. Even though we were the only people there. We wanted to find a place with staff as loving and caring as PETCO in Totowa, NJ since we moved to the shore. How disappointing it was to find this place. Want to love this place - Had 3 dogs visit several years ago all got kennel cough. Stopped taking them here. 5 yrs later- gave it another chance, my guy stayed 2 nights. Picked him up yesterday. He has been sick all day, tired, throwing up, digging in dirt. Something is wrong with this place. Should have followed instincts and not gone back. Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience with Lucky's Bed & Biscuit. After referrals from family and friends, we decided to board our dog at Lucky's. After an overnight "trial run", we dropped our pup the morning of our weekend trip. Friday morning, we arrived and were briefly informed of a kennel cough outbreak. Our dog is up-to-date on his Bordetella vaccine, and the form I signed was presented to me as a "precautionary measure", and did not seem to be a concern. I assumed, if it was a serious threat to my dog, I would have been notified prior to the morning of our trip. We asked that our pup not have any playtime with the other dogs. I received emails over the weekend that our dog was doing well, and eating/drinking normally. On Sunday, we arrived and were told that our pup did "really well" over the weekend. Our dog seemed to be choking when Animal Care brought him out. The staff member informed us that he had been pulling on his leash when she went to remove him from the kennel and that his harness may have caused him to choke. He was offered water to stop the choking, and we left. Our pup continued to choke and hack on his way home from Lucky's. It was only after a severe coughing fit later on in the evening, that we remembered the mention of the kennel cough outbreak. I called our vet on Monday morning, and brought our dog in for an appointment the same day. At this point, our dog was coughing up white foam and seemed unable to catch his breath at times. The vet advised us that his cough was severe and that he would need to be brought in for a chest x-ray if he did not improve in a few days. We were also advised to quarantine and monitor the three (3) additional animals we have in our home. I emailed Lucky's to notify them of our dog's illness, and received an email letting me know the owner would contact me "as soon as she gets into the office tomorrow". After no response for more than a week, I emailed again to follow up and have not received a response as of this writing. I am extremely disappointed in the services we received from Lucky's. I am disappointed we were not called and informed of the outbreak prior to the morning of our trip. I struggle to believe that our dog had just started coughing for the first time when Animal Care removed him from the kennel on Sunday. Especially after our vet classified his cough as "severe" the following day. I understand that I was notified of the risk in boarding him, but I feel strongly there were additional measures the facility could have taken to keep me informed of the situation. I care about my dog, and the other animals in our home. I would have canceled my weekend trip, or asked a family member to watch our dog if I had known the severity of the outbreak prior to the morning of our trip. Additionally, if our pup was showing signs of kennel cough, I would have returned home early. I completed multiple forms prior to his boarding advising veterinarian care for any signs of illness. If you are reading this review, and are considering Lucky's I hope you will take our experience into account. We are local to the area, and will now gladly travel a greater distance to board our dog (if needed) somewhere else. read more

This place is Awesome! They are very thorough making sure dogs have ALL their vaccines and even need a stool sample. I personally have no issue with this. The facility is always clean when I drop off the dogs and never smells of pet odor. They have a nice variety of pet supplies, pet toys, food and even homemade doggie treats in the check in lobby. The staff is AMAZING! I am going to give a shoutout to Bonnie at the front desk who always makes checking in the dogs pleasant (sorry for the loud entrance Kydo the Shepherd makes when entering:-) Also, Taylor is wonderful!! The Shepherd hates to be boarded and suffers from separation anxiety. He does not care to play with the other dogs (prefers humans) Taylor, Thank You for allowing Kydo to hang and chill with you and for giving him one on one attention. As for the other 2 dogs, Lance loves playtime with his friends, Jet not so much, prefers the couch at home. The great thing that Lucky's Bed and Biscuit does is place dogs in groups according to their temperament, not size. So it's funny to see some huge dogs mixed in with the much smaller dogs and all getting along. So happy I found this place! read more

Unfortunately, there is not an option to give zero stars to this establishment. I am shocked to see any positive ratings. We boarded our two dogs at Lucky's for 8 days. When we initially went in to book our dog's stay, we were greeted by an unfriendly receptionist. That should've been the first sign to stay away. But, everyone has a bad day, so we overlooked it. She informed us that personal dog beds/toys were not permitted and if we wanted our pets to have a toy it would have to be purchased there. (Keep in mind that the website says something entirely different). We brought out dogs back for Check-In on a Friday and there was massive confusion when we entered, due to both animal drop off's and pick up's. There is absolutely no set of procedures in place for either. You just randomly select one of the receptionists at the counter to go to. Unfortunately, we ended up with an incompetent receptionist who (was training a new receptionist). This receptionist quickly rummaged through the bags that we brought containing food, treats, medication, and written instructions (regarding food dispensing, likes, dislikes etc; which was sent to us to be filled out by Lucky's) and told the new receptionist that they could enter the information regarding the food at a later time. We called to check on our dogs on Sunday and received a call on Tuesday informing us that one of our dogs ran out of food. I was totally flabbergasted because I placed the appropriate amount of food and treats in each bag for each day with three additional bags in case of an emergency. I also told the receptionist upon arrival, and wrote the information on the information form given by Lucky's. I further expressed my confusion and the worker informed me that my dog was receiving two bags per day which is equivalent to four cups of food. My instructions, which were not properly followed, clearly stated that my dog should have received one bag per day. The worker that called asked me what they should do? I responded that they would have to buy food to get my dog through the remainder of the stay and it would have to be the food listed on the form because he is on a special diet. I also reiterated the name of the food which the worker incorrectly repeated twice. I told the worker that this was a problem because he should not be eating this much food daily. We checked in again with Lucky's on Thursday and were informed that they were fine, loved their walks, and the attention that animal care was giving them. However, they failed to inform us that both of the dogs had Kennel Cough, diarrhea and one of the dogs who weighs 10 lbs lost weight (2lbs) due to not eating. However, on her Lucky's report card, it states that she ate very well. We spoke to Whitney (one of the managers) who informed us that this happens because this is the time of year for Kennel Cough, When I told my vet what was said, she raised an eyebrow and said that information is false. After incurring substantial vet bills for both dogs, we called back and left word for a manager. Richie called back and was apologetic stating that we should have been told that the dogs were coughing and mention should've been made to the weight loss of our smaller dog. He offered a Deluxe Suite for our dogs next stay. Thanks but no thanks. If you care about your animals, and value their health stay far away from Lucky's Bed and Biscuit. read more

LUCKY'S is fantastic. They have been grooming our beloved Bichon, Bindi, for the past two years and the results have been consistently excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. We wouldn't trust our baby with anyone except LUCKY'S! All the parties and special occasion celebrations are an added plus. We dropped off our two dogs for 5 hours daycare and grooming. Our older dog has been there before and seemed to like it. We always received the report card that he had a great day but we had no way of really knowing. We had been suspect because on a couple of occasions when we showed up early, our dog was not in group play. This time validated our suspicions, because the groomer called 4 hours after we had dropped off and prior to grooming to ask grooming questions and I inquired about our new little 7 month old to see how he was. She told me that he was not in group because he was too scared and was in the back in their suite( glorified crate). When we dropped of we had to fill out all kinds of paperwork where they asked about everything from what he loves etc. our goal was to continue to socialize him, but instead he was placed in a crate all day until his grooming. When I picked up and read his " report card" it was completely fabricated. No where did it say that he wasn't in group and that he was in the back all day. In fact it had all the same cutesy information that our other dog had " had fun gossiping with others, etc. I questioned and said that the groomer called and told me he was never in group. Unfortunately I think I got Victoria in trouble because I could hear them on the phone saying -Victoria told them where he was!" Victoria, the groomer, is wonderful but unfortunately we wont go back. They initially went to charge my credit card $300 for two full days of day care and two grooms. I reminded her that they were only there a half day and the woman at the desk said " oh our computer automatically charges full day and we have to change it manually. ( that's the second time that happened but we didn't catch it at pick up that time and we had to get reimbursed after the fact) Then I asked why we were paying for day care when the dog was in a crate all day. The owner came and chose to gaslight initially asking if we would want our scared dog forced into group. I said "of course not but we expect the truth at pick up and maybe a phone call? The groomer called twice-someone should have told us that he was scared and stressed and we would've picked him up". Eventually the owner came and took off the second day care charge. Our puppy was definitely not himself and was very stressed at pick up. Also at pick up, our other dog was not in group that we could see so not sure where he was either. We only have their "report cards" to go by but we already know one report was a complete lie. Most places have links to cameras-they did away with it and now we know why. read more

On 7/19/20 I attempted to board my dog at this place The manager couldn't find my confirmation even after she said she received the fax of his medical records from Vetco. Obviously she never reviewed them. After she looked at my copies I brought with me, she said he needed a fecal test and the records show he had " Round/hookworm" and was on medication for it. After calling Vetco t when I got home , they told me, he didn't not have this disease nor was prescribed this medicine, this is one part of a "6 in 1 shot". She said we can board our dog but he would be in his Super Suite the whole time and not be able to be among the dogs. This Super Suite costs $99. I requested a suite for $69. If she had done her job, I could have made other arrange. This is outrageous. She handled this very badly, lost a customer and I'm writing this bad review read more

My dogs stayed at Lucky's for a week and I am so grateful for the way they took care of my fur babies! My Jack Russell is 15 and had just had surgery. They took extra special care of her. Richie, the manager, truly cares about the animals in his care as does the rest of the staff. The owner, Reggie, came back at night to take my dog to the emergency vet. Luckys is the Best!! My 5 month old Puppy , Wally, LOVES LUCKYS!! He spent 11 days while we were on Vacation. Not once did i worry, I got daily emails and pics!! The staff is absolutly wonderful. We don't use Lucky's often, we try to use other resources before we bring our puppy there. This isn't a knock on the establishment, more about what my dog is comfortable. I do feel though they want my dog to be over-vaccinated. Our vet tells us that his Bordetella is good for a year and Lucky's wants every 6 month. I don't understand the need aggressive dosage of this vaccine. We've had him groomed here in the past and it's a value if you have your pup stay for the afternoon. They did a decent job on my little guy and we certainly would go there again for that. Customer service to me is a touch lacking, a bit unprofessional, and borderline rude sometimes. It depends on who you are working with or maybe they just had a bad day. For us, overall good place if we are in a pinch. read more

Well, First they don't have cameras. That only benefits one and it aint me or my dog. Secondly I brought my dog there for a few days and he came back like he was rolling in pee. OK I get it but our dog is house trained and we paid him to be taken out for extra walks. Also my dog was afraid of another dog that he is totally used to after coming home. Then to top it all off former employees say that they take too many dogs and don't watch the dogs well. My dog had pee all the way up both arms and we were set back from training him by a year in a few days. Also employees say that they only car about money and stff very sparse and something is making sense here since they don't have webcams and it makes sense why. Go to indeed and read some of the employee reviews and ask Lucky's do you have webcams and how many dogs are allowed per worker. I cannot say enough about this place. The dogs just love it here. They always come home tired and happy. I know if I have to leave my dog overnight or over the weekend, I am leaving him with family. Place is clean and very well maintained . The animal care staff is awesome , and should be applauded ! What I have a hard time with is the initial greeting by the reception / front desk . I'm met in the morning by a gum popping Tara . I'm trying to get to work in a rush and I get a finger held up so I can wait until she drinks her coffee / tea. I don't understand why a good place does themselves a disservice by not hiring better people , like the folks in the back. This was the first time we boarded Morley at Lucky's. Morley is very high maintenance with irritable bowel disease and anxiety and needs constant focus on her feedings. The staff at Lucky's went above and beyond. The storm probably scared her and she was fussy about eating. They not only hand fed her to make sure she ate they talked to me on the phone and let me know everything that was going on. Thank you for taking such good care of our baby girl. My dog loved this place. Well at least I think he did, he can't talk you know. This is where we placed our loved one as we went on our family vacation without him. Yea I know we are cruel, but he had lots o fun without us. They have a large indoor play area complete with a small built in pool. The dogs have group playtime together, heck they even will give your pet a birthday party while he is there. This place is amazing! The facilities are beautiful with an awesome indoor pool, great outdoor play areas and immaculate sleeping facilities. You have the ability to watch your dog 24/7 on an app from your smart phone if you opt for the suite and you can call 24/7 to order your dog room service from their menu because they are staffed 24/7. Prices are reasonable and the staff is great, always giving updates anytime you call. Every time you pick up your pet you get a written report with detailed info like how many times they went to the bathroom, what they did during play times, updated weight of your pet, etc. We have had our dog groomed here and even private training sessions during her stay and we were impressed with everything. The store in the lobby is great with lots of healthy natural treats, toys and all other pet supplies at reasonable prices. I also love how they have cats for adoption in the lobby!
