I do not recommend this store for grooming services. The manager was rude and unfriendly, which made the experience even worse. The groomer, Alyson, began grooming my dog, but after 30-45 minutes she called to say she couldn't finish because my dog had some matting. She had already started shaving my dog and then left the grooming incomplete. I will not be returning to this store, and I will no longer be a PetSmart customer. read more

I walked in to get an angel fish for my tank, and to my surprise I had to wait because their seemingly teenage employee was being yelled at by a grown adult. From what I gathered she had denied fish due to a policy, which implied a grown adult to intimidate her? Petsmart needs to do better protecting their employees, if they have these policies in place. I've been going to this Petsmart for ten years and have seen more employees be harassed by customers than anywhere else in my life. I also saw another review "laughing" at their associates when it's more than obvious they are teenagers earning minimum wage doing what they are told to. It's getting out of hand how entitled people are becoming. Petsmart if you are going to make employees follow these policies than you need to do a better job at enforcing it on your websites and socials so they don't take it out on 16 year old girls. You are not better than anyone else, especially if you are willing to yell at someone you've never met. read more

Went to Petsmart in Manahawkin 7/26/25 at 7:30 pm to buy a parakeet for my 85 yr old dad. He had his for 10 years and it passed away. I picked out the bird I wanted and the sales girl told me she couldn't just sell me one I had to buy two that was their policy. I said I only want 1 we have owned 5 parakeets since I was little and I only had one each time. She said she would talk to manager. She came back to me and said the manager said no I had to get two. I left my whole cart filled with new bird supplies and left the store. So I had to drive all the way to Petco in Toms River where I brought him a parakeet. I call that Petco on my way there and asked if I could buy just 1 bird and they said yes. I told them what happened at PetSmart and they couldn't believe it. Don't every go to petsmart to buy a bird lesson learned. read more

PetSmart is such a fun store! Meeko my 5 year old cat is a patient of Banfield since we adopted him. Banfield is part of PetSmart. We buy his food and toys, whatever he tells us to get except a lizard or beta fish! They offer dog training. You can get your fur baby groomed while you watch through the glassed in area. While they're at the spa buy an outfit or some treats for your pet! Plus this location is clean you don't have to worry about stepping in a yellow puddle. read more

Think twice before going here. I took my Morkie to get groomed and I will never go back. My dog was butchered in more ways than one. He came home with abrasions on his chest and backside that are now scabbed over because he was cut too short. He's itching so much because he has razor burn from being butchered. Made an appt to get my very sweet goldendoodle puppy groomed today. Made the trip with my 2 and 3 year old daughters, dropped the dog off, walked outside and got a phone call from the groomer Joanne saying she will not groom my dog because my dog seems too nervous and doesn't seem like she wants to get her hair cut. I asked her what dog likes to get groomed and she said many of them and I should take my dog somewhere else. The dog was back there for two minutes and the woman just gave up. Guess she Didn't feel like working today. I lugged my poor dog and my kids back home. Waste of Time. Don't book Joanne she isn't a professional at all. I was visiting from out of town for a week and needed to pick up food and treats for my dog. I just adopted my dog from a rescue in Virginia, and I asked if they had a coupon book for new adopters like Petco does. The kind woman at the register there was, and she had to have her manager give me the book. After waiting and waiting... The manager then told me that he could only give me discounts if I adopted from one of the local rescues. I even pulled up a picture on my phone of my adoption emails with Homeward Trails (VA). At the end of the day, if you promote coupons for new adopters, you should honor them regardless if they are not local. PetSmart is a national chain, and I will continue to choose Unleashed/Petco and Chewy over them. read more

Horrible grooming services. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dani butchered my dog--she even cut off her eye lashes and eye brows. She did not groom her--she butchered her. She should be fired immediately. Please do not subject your precious loved ones to this. Dani is abysmal and should be fired or not allowed anywhere near any animals. It was so bad I am crying as to the state in which she left my jack russell. Manager did nothing. Very upsetting experience. read more

I have been taking my dogs to Pet Smart grooming salon since 2010, thats 8 years, 3 dogs, and A LOT of money. Today I overslept and called the grooming salon to let them know I over slept. My appt. was for 9:00 am and it was 9:06 am, I live 6-7 minutes away and was already enroute to Pet Smart. They told me I would have to reschedule? REALLY at 9:06 am? Are you kidding me? Even a doctors office gives a 15 minute window, as shit happens. So, I asked to speak to the groomer and she wouldn't get on the phone, instead they put the "so called" salon manager on the phone. I explained the situation and she didn't care, she just wanted to reschedule. 8 years, 3 dogs didn't matter to her, it was as if she was reading from a script. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, If I could give ZERO stars I would. I said, forget it I will take my long time business somewhere I am appreciated as a customer. I have been in customer service over 25 years and never been treated like this, nor will I be treated like this, UNACCEPTABLE. I canceled my appt. for next week for my other dog too. There is NO WAY they will take my money any longer. Also, what the heck is pet perks anyway? They dont give you any "perks"! I wish Pet Valu had a groomer, as for a chain they offer many perks, free dog & cat food. When you reach a certain $ amt. you get $10.00 off your purchase. I stopped purchasing any product locally from Pet Smart the second I shopped at Pet Valu, not to mention you can go wash your dog at Pet Valu for $10.00 and they provide you with towels, dryer and shampoo. What does Pet Smart offer you? Nothing but terrible customer service. To top off this experience, I called the store asked to speak to the store manager, and he was on conveniently on a conference call. I left a message at 9:20 am, it is now 3:25 pm and I have received no call back, and its doubtful I will. The saddest part is my dogs loved our groomer. But its ok, we will find another one who I am sure they will give their love too just as well, AND wont be stuck in a cage all day for 5-6 hours with no water or food, or potty breaks. My dogs sh*t their brains out after leaving this salon, and both dogs always ended up with ear infections. My one female had eye problems a couple of times also after grooming. So if you want terrible customer service, your dog crated and treated inhumanly, take them to Pet Smart of Manahawkin for all your dogs grooming needs. Or find a groomer who cares! read more

Santa Anna shopping for new harness! Sad news about Petsmart!! Petsmart does not stand behind it's products beyond 60 days. This little 15 lb. puppy's harness is coming apart and the manager said "without the receipt it's only guaranteed for 60 days." We purchased it a year ago! And it's falling apart and it's a danger to Santa Anna if she runs! I will no longer shop at Petsmart because they do not stand behind their products !Beyond 60 days the brand-name is their own KONG!!! I would rather give no stars for this place I've been taking my dog here for almost 9 years. Our dog is friendly and is very approachable never having an issue with strangers entering our home.My kids took him to get groomed 20 minutes after coming home they received a call saying the dog who is terrified of squirrels bit the groomer. I'm not saying I don't feel bad for the groomer but how is it a dog that has never had any behavior issues bite you?we've had complete strangers working in our home and never has he gone after them instead he's ran towards them to get pet. Needless to say I sent a complaint via email and was something totally different from what the told my kids are what they said to me so will never shop there again.! read more

We used your grooming services in Manahawkin, NJ. Both of our dogs were returned to us looking great, smelling great. Kudos to the groomers who actually did the work. So FIVE stars for the grooming. But I am not sure I can ever use PetSmart ever again after this incident. Two days later we receive a call that we need to bring both dogs back into the store, because we were given the wrong dog back. The owner who supposedly had our dog was returning to the store demanding that we switch dogs back. Here is why having a Microchip is so important folks!!! I went to my local vet and immediately verified that in fact my puppy Lily is mine. If she was not she should have been named 007 for mimicking my dogs behavior in every conceivable way possible. My vet faxed all of the verification paper work to the other woman's vet. Now I have the Manahawkin, NJ Police department calling my wife asking us to bring the dogs back to the store. We have refused. PetSmart corporate. This is NOT our problem. This is your problem so you deal with it. We offered and provided pictures of the dogs to the Police Department. Our older dog Sophie is 10 year old Labradoodle and has very specific fatty deposits on her at specific locations along with other distinguishable body marks (documented with the vet). She is not chipped, but the woman crying foul has a dog who was supposedly chipped. In this instance, not having the chip worked out, but I will be getting Sophie chipped now after this situation. And not for nothing, she's Sophie. I have had her for 10 years. I know my own dog. I am very sorry that a woman feels she has the wrong dog now, but we do not have her dog and I am now feeling harassed by PetSmart employees. We literally feel like we are being interrogated. I am pretty sure a strange dog would not allow my son (age 5) to pounce all over it like my son does with our dogs. That would have been the first warning sign there was a problem, which there is not a problem on our side. This is totally unacceptable and my wife is completely shaken up over this matter. I am putting his message here, because PetSmart executives probably do not want a phone call from me right now. They would regret trying to speak with me by telephone at this juncture. Your team offered me a free grooming for Lily. Are you kidding me? No seriously, are you kidding me? We just had Berkeley Township Animal Control at our home to prove once again that our dogs are our dogs. They scanned and confirmed our puppy is our based on her tag and confirmed that our 10 year old does not have a tag. I feel really really terrible now that this poor woman thinks I have her dog. I am very sorry, but I do not. I will NEVER EVER do business with PetSmart again after this episode. read more

Petsmart uses deceptive pricing strategies. There is the store price and a magical internet price and the difference can be over 100%! They say they have a price matching policy and are happy to match their own price IF you say something. I shouldn't have to worry that I'm getting overcharged not by a competitor but by the same company! Price match guarantees should be for competition not for your OWN website! Beware before shopping here check the magical internet first as there could be a substantial difference. VERY DECEPTIVE PRICING STRATEGY taking advantage of those that don't know any better or don't have internet! I am BEYOND outraged that they do this. SHAME ON PETSMART! read more

Uuggh petsmart of Manahawkin GROOMING....I want to like you, I REALLY do. However, my dog has now contracted kennel cough 2 times in a row from visiting your grooming dept! So, sadly I think I will have to look elsewhere... I used the same girl to groom my golden. I liked her, even tipped. She did an awesome job w/ my golden. The ease of the appt, done in a timely manner and prices that were pretty good. However this was the 2nd time she has now contracted kennel cough directly from your store. How do I know? Because, we have come home & she's been here for the last 10 days, nowhere else.....Good thing I have extra medicine from LAST time, at least I saved a trip to the vets! In petsmarts defense, they did handle the situation rather well. They offered me a full refund, however, that is NOT what I'm looking for!!! PLEASE clean your area, instruments, kennels BETTER so that this does not happen again to another dog! read more

I just had my dog's nails clipped at PetSmart of Manahawkin. Toni did it and she was great. No problems what so ever...I did not have an appt. I was a walk in and it was done in 5 minutes. Everyone there was very friendly. They did require that I bring in paper work from my vet so they could see she had all of the correct vaccinations. All great! When I came back to pick her up ( about 5 minutes) someone was holding her so she wasn't scared. I am not sure why this place has such bad reviews, I had a great experience. read more

I give this place 1 star only because there are no negative choices. I have been bringing my sweet, 9 year old Golden Retriever "Halley" for grooming to the Manahawkin PetSmart ever since they opened. We have always chosen certain groomers because you can tell who is good with dogs and who is not. Unfortunately, they can't seem to keep people on staff and there is a large employee turnover at this store. That being said, we finally picked our favorite groomer "Gina G." for the last few years, who has always done decent work on our girl. Last week, we made another appointment, online, as we always do, for a complete grooming, furminator, nail grinding and tooth brushiing. We chose the first available appointment: Tuesday, April 17 at 2:30 PM. We immediately received an email confirmation Two days before, we received another email asking that we re-confirm the appointment, which we did. The day before, on Monday, we received a telephone call, confirming the appointment once again. When we arrived at the store, we were told that that Gina couldn't take us and "appointments made online are not very accurate"! She had too many dogs already for that day and they had been trying to call us all morning to cancel! I'm not sure how stupid people think I am, but there is something called caller ID. Not to mention I work from home and was there all morning. And we also have voicemail. No calls whatsoever. No messages left on our voicemail. We left the store in disgust. When we returned home, I discovered an email from a couple hours before the appointment, that her appointment had been re-scheduled for the following week. I am sorry, but this is completely inexcusable. This, on top of previous experiences with other employees at this store, has made up my mind to never visit this store again. Not to mention that this experience validates all of the other negative reviews here for this place. It is such a shame because people who work in pet stores should have nothing but extreme love for pets. Not this place! read more

Petsmart has just about anything and everything for your pet. You will be paying a premium price though. Banfield Vets are located inside and they have a decent grooming service as well. Make sure you get your petsmart pet perks card for discounts. They are pet friendly so expect to see many animals in the store but they are required to be on a leash. read more

This place was very nice grooming our old blind dog. They were so gentle with him and understanding of his condition.

Staff seems to be more concerned about filling the stock on their shelves rather then helping their paying customers. I cringe every time the older women (Allison I believe) is checking out customers. She feels the need to hold up the line by having 20minute conversations with every person about their personal life. The store could be cleaned better, has a wet dog smell. Prices are pretty high but they normally have have I need. read more
