I love the chill vibe and their selection of classic arcade games. Games use tokens or quarters that you can get from the token machine. Level One Arcade Bar is a two-story venue and has a wide array of pinball machines and arcade games. They opened in 2019 in Downtown Mesa and have a Valley Metro light rail stop nearby. Each floor features its own bar with each of them having around 30 beers on tap. The second level has majority of the pinball machines. You will find me playing classics like 1943, Galaga, Mortal Combat, Tekken 3, Area 51, Mario Bros and Street Fighter. I am also a big pinball junkie. They have darts here at Level One and we have had fun playing them when I have come here with groups of friends. Check out the speakeasy behind the building if you want to hang out in a cool 20s vibe atmosphere with a cocktail. It is called Alchemy 48. Understandably they're there to keep everyone within their designated ~42 inch square but realistically there's no way to aim here, you will absolutely smack your mouse into the bumper if your normal sens exceeds 15cm/180. That math might sound kinda funky but they have a full 100% keyboard with a numpad, so you lose all that space in practice unless you curl up in a wildly unnatural position and rest the keyboard on the plastic bumpers but nothing I did even remotely made this place comfortable. It's as if they've never had anyone play a shooter here, or everyone who ever has had an eDPi of 12000 or higher. They aren't really equipped for MMOs either, every mouse in sight was a Razer Deathadder Essential, no Nagas or Scimitars or even a knockoff 12 button, so unless you're clicking your buttons or reaching to the = key naturally on a full sized keyboard you're crippled. I picked up a 5 hour session off the rip because my buddies in town and I only have one PC in my place, I couldn't even survive 30 minutes here before just giving up and deciding to watch him play, but even a guy who never gets to play, who really wants to play, couldn't survive more than an hour and a half of his five hours. Side note, we pushed in our chair to make space to walk through the aisle and the light rattle of the desk sent a PC for a whole bootloop back to BIOS. We chose 18-holes which was two 9-hole games, on different courses. Game one was on the first level. It was actually so much fun. I loved the setup - you can see your group's info on the TV screen each time you move to the next hole. Your golf balls are tracked, so it can keep score for you. Our second game was upstairs where there was a big party finishing up ahead of us. That did slow things down a bit, but understandably. Our favorite part of each round was trivia, where you aim the golf ball into either the true or false slot to answer the question on the TV screen. Service was great - both guys that checked us in for each game were very helpful. Also, someone ahead of us had an issue with their golf ball not registering any movements, but a staff member quickly replaced it with a new ball. The staff member who oversees each course can also put in drink orders for you. That's convenient, but we didn't order anything. The game moves pretty quickly anyway. Lastly, they have a weekday offer where you buy one 9-hole game and get 50% off a second game. We would definitely come here again!
