I originally asked for the acrylic set I had to be removed and a new set put on. The woman said…read morethat was no problem on the phone when I booked but when I came in the man told me it will take half an hour to take off the old set and another hour to put on the new ones. I said that was fine to which he replied saying it may be another hour and a half to put on nails on top of the half hour to take them off. Got a weird vibe that they may have overbooked when he also added to that to say that removal of old sets is "very painful" which I had never experienced before if it was done properly. I told him my old set was crooked and I wanted it removed. He said he would remove the one nail that was really bad and that it would look fine. The nails turned out horribly to say the least. Half way through doing the design I asked for, the woman said it was really difficult. From there I could tell she was taking less care in making them look good. The end result was not what I was expecting but I just wanted to pay and leave. On the board they have posted it says that an acrylic fill is $20. Somehow I was charged $50 which was a bit of a shock. All that paired with the creepy comments from the man working made for a very disappointing experience and I definitely won't be back. Today I went to get just to get my fingernails polished, I had already removed my old nail polish so all they had to do was just clean up my nails quickly and then put a new colour on. Upon arrival I was asked whether I wanted a manicure for $15 or just a nail polish change for $8, I told them I just wanted a nail polish change. Upon cashing out, my technician asked for $10. When asked what the extra $2 was for, they said it was for doing the filing of the nails. I was annoyed that they charged $2 extra without telling me upfront or asking for permission for the extra charge, especially as they did not have to take off any old polish... Perhaps they charge an extra charge for that as well! I gave the technician $1 tip and left. When I got home I realized I should've expressed my dissatisfaction. I will not be returning to this nail salon.

Nails that are on fleek, of course. I'm kidding, I swear I'm not that basic. I don't even own Uggs. And I've only gotten my nails done 3x in my lifetime. 2 of those times were at Nailed It Studios though so I feel it's time to leave them a review. Nailed It Studios is a tiny, appointment-only, cash-only, 3-woman shop, though I think they're hiring more nail techs to keep up with their insane demand. They're located in the weirdly isolated Langham Square mall on Kennedy but are thriving thanks to their impressive Instagram feed and what I'm guessing is a lot of referrals. When your nails last more than a month without chipping/lifting, you're bound to get questions on where you got them done. I got my nails done by Maggie, then Margie. Maggie is extremely sweet but was a little rough when filing one of my fingers. It didn't hurt per say, but it wasn't comfortable, and I left with a bit of swelling that lasted for 2 days. Same thing happened to my friend. That was literally the only flaw though, as my nails survived for the 6 weeks afterwards, with no lifting or dulling. My second time with Margie was even better. I'm a bad customer because I fidget and tend to stiffen up my hands a lot, due to them being perched in permanent typing position. She was patient with me and the nails turned out perfectly, no discomfort at all. That's why she's the boss. Her marble designs are legendary. Bookings are done conveniently on Whatsapp and first timers need to drop a $20 deposit, in person or through e-transfer. I love this. It ensures I have a transcript of my bookings and I get to ask questions and get quotes on designs I find on Pinterest. They take bookings one month in advance. Margie runs the Whatsapp and she's very responsive. Pricing is extremely fair. They only use gel and it starts at $30. $2/nail for matte, $5 for special polishes, and $6-$12+ for intricate designs. $10 to remove polish. Prices are transparent, reasonable, and you pay for quality stuff. They also give a stamp card which gives you 20% off after your 10th visit. As a woman who appreciates nice nails, grande lattes, and a good pun, Nailed It is the perfect place for me to pumpkin spice up my life and my Instagram feed. What a pro!…read moreI really went in there with little clue of what I actually wanted just some general pointers. Her care in the details and also the conversation was fantastic and really helped the 2-hour appointment for my bridal set go by in a flash. She is very fairly priced for the work she puts into the nails. As a person who normally doesn't wear extensions, her work stood out even more during the wedding with everybody asking to see the nails and appreciating how they looked with my wedding rings. Definitely going back to her again for the next set.

I had acrylics for 6 weeks that did not change in colour or get damaged at all. My shellac pedi stayed on 3 months...and the pedi service is out of this world. Kim hurt me as she filed my nails even though I demonstrated that she was hurting me. The dip process was the worst I have experienced, with polish and glue still stuck to my skin around my nails when she was finished. After she finished my nails, Kim became impatient and went to the cash to wait for me to get up, without helping me remove the kleenex between my toes, and looked frustrated until I came to the cash to pay. I am new to Stouffville, and will now be looking for another salon for my manicures and pedicures, even though I have had good experiences at Pedi N Nails in other locations.
