The lowest monthly fee is $250, and that's just to join the space (and access a teeny tiny cubby space to keep any personal belongings). If you actually want to use any of their equipment or facilities (which is the whole point of becoming a member) they charge you an additional $50 monthly fee ON TOP OF your membership fee. PLUS, there's a $50 fee to take any orientation class, which is mandatory before you're even allowed to touch the equipment. They even charge you to use their printers!! I'm surprised there's not a fee to use the restroom...You get locked into a minimum year lease, and then are micromanaged with how you use the space. With creative culture dying in the Bay in favor of Big Tech, what artists need now more than ever is an affordable and accessible space to create and build community, without a financial barrier. THIS PLACE IS NOT IT.

The curation of this gallery feels cohesive. The pieces here are rich with meaning -- great conversation starters, so it's definitely an excellent place to bring a friend or two. 2) I wish I caught the name of the owner/director I met there yesterday -- he was so warm and a great host! It was my first time, and he took the time to briefly show me around the different areas of the gallery whilst entertaining my questions about the history of the gallery/its artists. He also shared upcoming events and exhibitions (artist talks, for instance), inviting me to stay connected! 3) Parking here is pretty great (I was at the gallery on the weekend). I just opened some brand new records and they were shipped with sand and dirt inside the sleeves…read more At first I thought it was just edges along the opening, but nope, the sleeves and jackets were full of sand. The sound they made when I removed them from the paper jackets was so horrible... I got all the dirt and shit cleaned off of that one, opened the 2nd record and there are bits of black debris pressed into the vinyl. It looks like it was pressed in then the grooves cut over top. It's not dirt that's stuck in the grooves, it's actually in the vinyl and there's no way to remove them. These aren't the only new records I've received with damage and dirt, but they are by far the worst. There is no quality control at Pirates Press, they obviously don't give a shit about the work they do so I'm done supporting them. I won't be buying anymore vinyl that's pressed by them.

I checked out their site and they have a bunch of hilarious designs that you won't find anywhere else. My store needed to update their 25 year old logo, so I hit these guys up. They had the logo re-done the next day, and we got a call saying that our order was done the day after that. I would have been impressed if this was a corporation that could pull this off, but I'm pretty sure it's just 2 guys. I found them to be totally professional. They have the option of printing on shirts other than your run of the mill Hanes or Fruit of the Loom so you end up with a shirt that you want to wear 5 days a week just because it's comfy. There was a small table outside with 2 friendly gals asking people if they wanted to try delicious smoothies. I said sure and struck up a conversation. I learned that they regularly make fresh smoothies out of a nearby industrial kitchen. No sugar is added in any of their smoothies. They use the natural sweetness from various fruits such as bananas. Prices are fair, smoothies start at $6 for a small. Yesterday's options included a veggie smoothie with some fruits, so the color was green. The other smoothie was pink, probably from the guava. I also learned that this shop is now a co-op space of different businesses coming together. Great first experience. Hope to try your other smoothie flavors in the future. #3/2023

Rather than go with one of the big online stores, which were honestly pretty dang pricey (and slow) I was hoping to support a local business. Trouble was, I only needed a small number of shirts, and I was struggling to find a place that would fulfill a custom order...and I was on a budget. Enter Amy from Electric Smoothie Lab Apothecary and Print Shop. She worked with me tirelessly to find a way to execute my order, while keeping it cost effective. From ordering the shirts to finding a way to keep costs down on screens and simplifying the art where needed, she was a true gem. The shirts were ready on time for my trip and everyone adored them! Highly recommend them if you need screen printing. While we were there we saw some of the other work they had going, supporting local schools, other fun events, and even custom designs. Excited to see this cool new business grow. Bonus points: Wasn't a bad drive from SF, Parking is easy and it's close to Paradise Park cafe (and James and the Giant Cupcake) if your toddler is too hungry to function.
