I cannot recommend Charlie and Lucky Dog enough! We got a 4 month old puppy and we didn't want to leave her home all day for the first few months, so we decided to do daycare at Lucky Dog. Their prices are unbeatable and Charlie and the team care so much about the dogs. He has given us tons of great advice for our pup and she comes home every day so happy! Sometimes I get videos of her and she looks like she is having the time of her life. The best part about Lucky Dog is that they have a great outdoor space, so the dogs get to be outside. Charlie is extremely responsive via text or email and it is easy to pay to your bill. Since we live in the building, we get a discount and they even pick up and drop off our dog every day. Perfect! Charlie and his team are supremely competent and invariably loving, and it's a great combination. Competence: they're on time, the communicate well and clearly (text or phone), and they seem never to make a mistake. Loving: our dogs are crazy about their regular walker (and the very occasional substitute) and when we board with Charlie we KNOW the dogs are going to have a great time. Flexibility - Charlie and his team are highly highly flexible. This is Not a common characteristic of many dog walkers we have worked with in the past. As two working professionals this makes a big difference to us as our schedules are constantly changing. 2. Responsiveness & Overall Service - Charlie and his team always answer within a few hours. As several points they navigated the regular hiccups of working with dogs extremely professionally. 3. Passion - It's very clear that the Gotham Pups team loves dogs. They often send helpful notes as the summer approaches about how to take care of your dog during hot weather. 4. Affordability - I found Gotham Pups extremely fairly priced relative to what else is available in the market. 5. Putting The Customer's Needs First - Often times when you last minute have to travel or hop out to do errands you need a dog walker quickly. And the inevitable feeling is guilt for reaching out last minute (it's funny but true). Charlie is always happy to hear from you and the team makes the utmost effort to accommodate your needs. We have been using Lucky Dog even before they were called Lucky Dog- they are absolutely fantastic. I have lived in 3 different apartments on the UWS over the last 10 years, and have used Lucky Dog to walk my canine children for years and years. They are timely, professional, and call if there are any issues (like when your newly rescued fur baby throws up clothing). Domo used to walk our dogs, and now Jasmine does. My dogs LOVE her. Just over 6 years ago I made an unusually impulsive decision to rescue and adopt a 70-lb mastiff/lab mix (allegedly) off of death row at the NYC ACC. Wally was a 1-year old bundle of youthful energy, civil impropriety and general unruliness. I managed to get this hulk of a beast home to my UWS apartment despite his constant leash-biting and pulling, humping, scavenging and overall canine insubordination. It was a bit of a mess. And, oh yeah - I had a vacation scheduled in two weeks. Even if I didn't have a vacation pending, I was in WAY over my head with this dog. I didn't know how to handle him. I broke down in tears the first night. Then I found Charlie. It sounds a little dramatic but Charlie kinda saved my - and Wally's - life. In our first meeting, Charlie reassured me that he could handle Wally while I was away and that things would eventually be OK overall. And they were. Wally worked with various outside trainers over the years, but Charlie and his team became my go-to resource for all his walking and boarding needs from that point on. Over the six years that I've worked with Gotham, Charlie has consistently identified all-star walkers for Wally's twice daily walks. They know how to handle him with the right proportions of love and firmness. Charlie and his team are in constant communication about any issues they notice on the walks regarding health, behavior, weather, etc. They have always been flexible and responsive about any last-minute requests. I just moved from the UWS. I am happy about my new home but deeply saddened to leave Charlie, Ruby, Amanda, Jordan and the whole team at Gotham. I think Wally misses his time with them too. Now 7 years old, Wally has mellowed with age, training and consistency of care to become a truly good and upstanding canine citizen (of about 85 lbs). I attribute a good deal of his maturation and growth to the uncompromising care he received from Gotham Pups. I can't thank them enough for what they did for us. read more

I absolutely LOVE everything about Gotham Pups. The owner Charlie is very responsive, and Matt, who walks my little Simon, is absolutely amazing. Things I love most: 1.) Matt always shows up at the same time each day. I cannot tell you how easy this makes my life. With other walking services, I had walkers show up at all different times. That made it very hard to plan my schedule and determining how late I'd be able to stay at work. 2.) Based on the little notes Matt leaves about Simon's walk each day, it's clear that he loves animals and cares for my dog. I usually have a laugh reading about Simon's adventure and hearing about what other dogs in the neighborhood he came across/played with. 3.) On the few occasions where Simon and I have caught up with Matt on the street, Simon goes beserk with joy! He jumps up and down like he's on a pogo stick, happily greets Matt and cannot contain his excitement. It makes me feel so good that Simon likes Matt SO MUCH. It tells me that he is kind to my dog, takes care of him and is amazing at what he does! Thank you Charlie for being such a kind and responsive owner, and thank you Matt for being AWESOME. I have been a happy customer of Charlie Allen and his company for many many years, both for their dog walking and boarding services. What I really admire is the care with which Charlie hires his walkers and the training he gives them before he lets them walk any dogs. For example, his walkers are not permitted to use cellphones while walking your dog - sounds so basic, right? But if you watch the other walkers on the street, you know it's common practice to chat on the phone. Also, I like the fact that if my dog isn't walked alone, he has no more than 2 other dogs with him, and not some pack of 12 as you see all the time. Charlie and his crew are always ready for those unforeseen occasions when you suddenly are called away and need to arrange a last-minute walk. In sum, Charlie really cares about dogs and his business, and it shows in the quality people he hires, who my dog is always excited and happy to see. He's a lucky dog indeed! read more

First id like to start by saying that I NEVER write reviews and have never felt compelled to write one until now. My at the time 1 and a half year old pup, Kash, and I moved to NYC temporarily for a work assignment from NC. Kash had been going to the same daycare since I got him so naturally i wanted to keep him on the same routine but after trying out a few daycares in NYC that kash never seemed to take to and I wasnt 100% comfortable with I decided to look into a dog walker instead. As with most dog owners who love their pups it was extremely important to me that I knew that Kash was being cared for especially since i had never used a dog walking service. Also being new to NYC and just starting a new project I was a bit overwhlemed and simply worried about how Kash would adjust. I read a few reviews on gotham pups on yelp and decided to give them a call. I was greeted by Charlie who within just a few minutes of conversation put my anxiety and worry at ease. He asked questions about Kash's behavior and habits and needs to make sure he paired Kash up with the walker that would best fit his needs and temperment. Charlie made sure to let me know that they were there to take care of Kash in whatever way was most convienient for me. Bria was assigned as Kash's walker and he absolutely adored her as did I! He always got excited when i would mention her name. She treated Kash with such care and always left notes after their walk to keep me updated on how he was doing and if she noticed anything off about his behavior. I also boarded Kash with them when i had to travel out of town and he seemed to always have a blast. i think he especially loved Charlies backyard (being from the south we werent used to grass being a luxury:)) They were always extremely flexible with my schedule. If i needed a change in schedule at the last minute or if i needed to have Kash looked after for just a day, it was never a problem. They would even drop Kash back off at home after I got back into town from traveling over a weekend. Gotham pups treated Kash with such care and love and for that I am so grateful. We have sinced moved back to NC but I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, flexible, trustworthy service with true dog lovers who truly care about the well being of your pup. read more
