Great place, food and environment. Staff are great and the service has improved immensely.

We came here on a food tour with Madison Eats- we had the cheese curds and the empanada as a part of the tour. The cheese curds were AMAZING with the house ranch and the empanadas were so yummy and served with a cilantro lime crema situation. The vibe and service were SO cute! Would totally come back if I was ever in the area again! read more

Ordered the steel pan pizza and prepared to wait the advertised 30 minutes. No problem ~ I'm with cool people! Almost an hour later the waitress reports that my pizza has been delivered to another table. Would I like to order something else? Lucille serves food as it is ready, so all in my party already had their food and were eating~ so... I ordered the guacamole. Heavy onion flavor ~ sort of overwhelming. This place may be great ~ but that wasn't my experience. At two hours in, the waitress says, "oh! It looks like they did make that pizza ~ do you want it?" Nope. They did comp the guacamole. And again, I hope your experience is different. I won't return, and I won't recommend. read more

Loved the holiday pop up still going on after Christmas! Service was okay... a few mishaps with order. Caesar salad was honestly one of the worst I've ever had? There was the most minimal amount of dressing.... Plus it came after our pizzas despite how quick that could be made. Wood fire pizza was phenomenal though and would go back time and time again for those! Overall great vibes and a fun place to bring friends from out of town! Don't forget to show them the bank vault bar in the basement! read more

I have tried several pizzas, the Al Pastor is my favorite, it is the bomb! The atmosphere is vibrant, there is a bar center stage, so ask to be seated upstairs if you want it a little quieter. The building alone is worth the trip, but the food seals the deal. The nachos are excellent. Service is a bit slow and one server has an attitude, but still a great experience. read more

The vault was... underwhelming but it's truly just... the basement with a vault door. I mean it's cozy but super hyped up haha. The outdoor seating is bomb in the summer. The upstairs is fun too. Last time I went I went for their Wednesday night date night deal for $50. You get an app, a pizza, bottle of wine and dessert to share! We got: Guac - great mix of veggies and chips and the guac was more thick than other guava I've ever had LOL like a paste She's A-Maizing pizza - cheese was really good Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp - solid end to the meal, hard to get it down after so much yummy food! Vibes were pretty spectacular. When we went they had live Latin jazz. Was hard to not shake my a&8 as I ate my pizza. We sat at the bar to avoid the wait (came at like 7pm). It got pretty dang busy tho so it was tough to flag down the bartender that was serving us at times. read more

The atmosphere and ambiance invited us inside, but the food left us a little disappointed. We tried the guacamole and cheese curds to start, both were good and especially liked the carrots with the guacamole. After this, things went downhill with an unusual spicy Caesar salad that included a ton of jalapeños and birria tacos that were simply baked and not very flavorful. read more

This is my third time coming here and I built my own wood fired pizza with arugula, green olives, sausage, and prosciutto as my toppings. I never noticed this before but this time the pizza was incredibly salty to the point where I couldn't eat as much as I wanted to. It might've been because of the toppings I chose so beware when choosing your toppings! Previous times I've come here it was delicious though so maybe I'll need to go back to my original orders‍! I also ordered cheese curds which were great but also noticeably salty. We sat at the bar and service was decent but slightly lacking (understandable though because it was VERY busy). I love the interior of the restaurant. It is so cozy and they have all their Christmas lights and decorations up right now so it definitely got me in the Christmas spirit! read more

Good beer, selection, good food, and great atmosphere, perfect location, as it is right downtown across from the capital. It's a great place downtown. The layout of the building (on a corner - narrowing down to a triangle at the entrance) and exposed brick and steel beams reminds me of being at a establishment in a much bigger city like Chicago, but without all the traffic and hassle. read more

Absolutely the best (cheap) date night deal in Madison is at Lucille's on Wednesday nights. $50 per couple gets you a bottle of wine (red or white) , app, pizza and a dessert. You can upsize the pizza for a few $$ if you want to have extra. Limited menu only which I posted. Everything we had was delicious and service was fantastic too! Will return and recommend read more

Recently went to Lucille's with my UW mock trial team to have a little reunion and was pleasantly suprised. I am not a huge fan of pizza so, I was a little upset with myself when I did not check the menu beforehand. But, nevertheless I thought I would try a classic slice of pizza and then the gyro one. The gyro one was pretty dang good! The vegetables went really well with the seasoned meat that they used. The sauce was also impeccable. Other than the gyro pizza, the classic slice and a couple of the others I tried (as we just ordered a few for the table) were pretty okay. There was also a really scenic view of the capitol at night when I went. read more

Very strong pizza, cocktail and beer spot. Came on July 4th and there was a few minute wait around 5:30pm. Service was great - proactively checking on us when it started to rain. The Queen - 4.5/5. Added arugula, providing a nice touch to a strong pizza. Tangy sauce, lots of cheese, thin crust, well executed. 16" is a good size for 2 people. Only criticism is slightly greasy. Empanada - 3/5. Black bean and plantain was solid and well fried but I don't need to get it again. Drinks - 4.5/5. Got a painkiller mocktail and really enjoyed the balance and tropical vibes. My wife got a IPA, picking from a solid draft list. read more

Went here a while back for dinner, and it was mediocre food, but I loved the vibe inside. Nothing too special. However, we came back on a Sunday afternoon to check out the patio and had a great experience. The bartender was very friendly and let us try out samples of their craft beer. Sitting outside, we got a view of the capital, as well as a big city feel, which we loved. Looking forward to coming back. read more

I went to Lucille for dinner and the vibe was high! I love the upstairs dining area. I ordered a build your own pizza and it was super tasty! I want to shoutout Lucille for having vegan cheese, as plant based options in Madison are slim. I also had the chips and guac and it was very tasty and fresh. The margarita was excellent as well. Overall, I recommend and it is great that they have options for dietary restrictions! read more

First the good. I came with a big party (16 people). We had to split up into two groups, but the restaurant was very accommodating and put us next to each other. The restaurant has very nice ambience and atmosphere. Service was good and all the staff were very friendly. The night we were there they also had live music so that was cool. As for the food, I thought it was pretty average. As someone who was coming from New York, my standards for pizza are going to be high. We ordered The Queen, Weekender, 6 Mile Classic, and Mediterranean. Out of those, my favorite was The Queen. So that's the one I would recommend. We also ordered a bunch of appetizers - guacamole, grilled shrimp skewers, burrata salad, beet salad, empanadas, and cheese curds. Again, none of those stood out to me. read more

We visited at 5pm on a Friday and the place was already packed! We were able to get a seat right away outside for two, but I'd recommend getting a reservation if possible. I wasn't expecting much given 1) it's Pizza in Wisconsin, and 2) I've been told the food is good without being great. On the latter, I was fine with that because it looked like a fun place and a great vibe, and a 4.0 yelp score to me generally says "pretty solid". So, the food was actually terrible. I am glad I didn't venture to try anything not pizza, but I was like really wishing I hit up Pizza Hut or a little neighborhood joint called Dahmeenos. I really wouldn't recommend eating here because the pizza was some of the worst I've had. On the flip side, the bar/restaurant has a great industrial vibe & decor to it. Fun music and such. Service was fine. If I was in Madison I would swing by for some drinks but would not consider food. read more

What an adorable, warm and cozy bar, especially on a cold early winter night. I loved the place. The Christmas decorations inside look as if they took days to put together. A really festive, comfortable atmosphere. Their wood fired pizza was amazing. Very easy to tell they put a lot into making it as well, starting with an in-house wood-burning brick pizza oven next to the bar. read more

Lucille is probably my favorite spot to eat in Madison. I always get the Umami pie and the cheese curds because they're just too good to risk trying something else (although I'm sure the rest of their menu also hits). I also love their painkiller cocktail! Outside seating in the summer is immaculate, but the inside is vibey too. read more

I went to Lucillle for a late lunch and had to wait a couple minutes for the hostess to show us to our table. The seating outside added a great ambiance for the summer. The firewood pizza was extremely filling with fresh ingredients, the sweet chili peppers were balanced well with a slightly bitter taste from the charred broccoli rabe. The guac bowl also had a serving size bigger and deeper than I'd thought. My only suggestion would be having the homemade tortilla chips be more warm or salted because it didn't taste extremely fresh. read more

I took out dinner from here on a Friday evening. Interior looked spacious and roomy. I went for a Luci's Harvest pizza and an Umami Pizza. Luci's Harvest is a thick pizza and takes 20 - 25 minutes to bake. It was also my favorite among the 2. Umami pie had a slight burnt veggie taste. For Yelp check in I got a free steel pan chocolate chip cookie. That was my absolute favorite here. The cookie was big, but I finished it in a single sitting. As I was taking out, I requested the ice cream removed from the dessert. read more

Just steps away from Wisconsin's State Capitol, you can find this beautiful restaurant. Lucille's is a tri-level restaurant that serves craft beers, cocktails, wood-fired pizza, and a variety of shared platters. If you are fortunate enough to get seated upstairs, you will also be able to get an amazing view of the capitol building. This review is based on my first visit to the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon, with a reservation for a party of 4. NOTE: Strongly recommend making a reservation (and, if you check-in via Yelp on your first visit, you can get a free dessert item). Food: My party of four tried the steel pan nachos, a steel pan pizza (serves 3-4 per their menu), empanadas, and a 'build your own' wood-fired pizza. We all enjoyed the steel pan nachos- the homemade chips were crisped to perfection, and the toppings were tasty. The empanadas were just okay- they left more to be desired. They lacked enough filling, and seemed to compensate with more dough instead. Our wood-fired pizza arrived before the steel pan pizza, so everyone was eating from the wood-fired pizza. The pizza provided a savory taste with every bite and the sauce was delicious. When the steel pan pizza arrived, we were already full from the nachos and wood-fired pizza. Two people in my party still had a slice of the steel pan pizza and they enjoyed it. Service: We arrived a few minutes early than our reserved time, but we were seated immediately on the lower level near the bar. We were provided with water and small plates immediately, but shared that we needed more time to review the menu as it was our first time visiting. While the waiter was pleasant and provided everything we needed, she was slow. When it was time to pay our bill, she waited so long to collect the funds that I went looking for her so we could leave. Perhaps they're just having staffing issues, like many other restaurants during this time. Value: Keep in mind that this place is known for pizza and shared plates. With that said, I personally would not dine here alone. It is a little pricey for the location in my opinion, and if you dine alone, you will really be paying for it. The 'build-your-own' pizza can add up quickly as each topping costs between $2-$5, and I didn't try any of the 'fresh house cocktails' as they ranged from $13-$17 each. I did notice that they have a happy hour everyday from 3pm-6pm (all day Tuesdays), so that might be the time to try those! Ambiance: The restaurant has a modern, rustic, renovated warehouse feel to it. When you walk in, you will immediately notice the high ceilings, all of the lights, modern decor, and U-shaped bar in the center of the lower floor. It was very warm and inviting. Beliefs: Speaking of the restaurant being 'warm and inviting,' I also love their beliefs, which create a healthy environment for inclusiveness. According to their website (and some of the decor in the restaurant- see pride flag, etc), the restaurant stands for humility, collaboration, respect & justice, love, equity, and inclusivity. The website adds that they stand in solidarity with 'Black, LGBTQ, and indigenous communities everywhere'. Location: Located in downtown Madison, WI near the state's capitol. Other restaurant and shopping boutiques nearby as well. 101 King St, Madison, WI 53703. read more

Very cute bar! We were in Madison for the weekend & realized this bar was just a couple blocks from where we were staying & decided to stop in for their Christmas pop up before heading out to other places. I couldn't leave WI without their cheese curds! When we arrived, we were greeted by security & the hostess & were told that a private event was just finishing up downstairs & that we could either go to the bar or upstairs for seating & drinks. We opted to get seated upstairs & a hostess walked us up. Our server greeted us within minutes & provided us with a limited menu due to the time, that included their specials. We ordered a moscow mule, old fashion, few of their speciality shots, "Naughty & Nice" that were $5 & their cheese curds. The drinks tasted great, but the cheese curds were a little too salty for my liking! Other than that, the atmosphere was very well entertained from decor, the staff & they even had a DJ playing all the greatest 90s & 2000s, which we enjoy very much, we even tipped him! Would return back to try other menu items & go see the downstairs. read more

Visited Lucille for "Date Night " with a friend. when scheduling the reservation asked for the table with a video of the capitol as I wanted my friend to have a super awesome view to lift her spirits. We were sat next to it while the table there kept mentioning what a spectacular view and how they hadn't requested it. ‍ Live music was playing. We had a great night. Our service was pretty great. The food was tasty. The pizza and strawberry blueberry crisp cooked perfectly. I would recommend on a friends night or date night with partner. read more

Great Detroit style pizza, the Standard is the best just tomato sauce, mozzarella & parmesan baked to perfection. Lucille, let me count the ways I love you. The pizza selection is divine! The Umami pie is heaven on a plate. The drinks! Oh the drinks! The Stardust Battle is lit with a flame for your amusement. Blown away with this place. Everything from the reservation process, the food, the service to the extra mile they went to make a friend's birthday special - just so impressed. We booked this reservation for 10 adults about a month in advance. They were one of the only places in town that would take a reservation without making it a catering order. We were just 5 couples going to dinner, we didn't need a catering order. It was weird. Anyway, Lucille's took our reservation and right away asked if we had any dietary restrictions in our party, which we did. It was so thoughtful that they asked that upfront. They seated us right away at a great table on the first floor. We ordered drinks, mocktails, appetizers, pizza and more - everything was exceptional. They had a separate gluten-free menu which is always important to me, and the gluten-free pizza was ACTUALLY GOOD. A tough feat when it comes to GF pizza. Honestly, everything we tried (which was nearly the whole menu) was amazing. They even offered free shots to everyone at the table since we were celebrating a birthday. During our visit, the table next to us required and ADA accommodation and the staff took action right away to modify the table and meet the needs of the table. It seemed like a great experience there too. Overall, such a great spot. Would love to come back here if we're in town! read more

I've been wanting to try Lucille for a long time, so I was excited when my friend suggested it for a girl's night! I was surprised by the enormity of the restaurant, with its spacious two floor dining area and large bar in the center. The decor is warm and inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly. We were seated upstairs, which was perfect because of the gorgeous view of the Capitol from up there. For my first drink, I chose the Love Train, a fresh mix of Tanqueray Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, Pear, Matcha, Agave and Mint. The flavor was a little less sweet than I was expecting, and the color was a bit off-putting - it looked like a kale smoothie. It was tasty though! For my second drink, I chose the Love Hangover, which contained Tito's Vodka, Fresh Peach Syrup, Lemon Juice, Orange Juice and Mint. I enjoyed that one much more! After that, I opted for a beer - Rebel Kent from 3 Sheeps Brewing Company. I've had it before, and it has a very nice finish! For an appetizer, I ordered a chipotle chicken empanada, and it was amazing! The aji verde sauce was the perfect accoutrement. My friend and I split a 14" "The Queen" wood fired pizza, and it was incredible! This particular pie consists of tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil and SarVecchio Parmesan. It not only tasted delicious, but the presentation was beautiful. I am SO glad that I was finally able to give Lucille a try, and I can't wait to return! read more

I have been here about a dozen times since it opened. Considering the great restaurants in Madison this is a pretty frequent repeat. The deep dish Detroit Style pizzas are so rich and comforting. The dining area indoors is ample for crowds but in good weather the outdoor seating only adds to it. Last time we were there with only adults not families so we tried more cocktails and appetizers. The drinks are cute and creative. The guacamole came with delicious homemade chips and veggies. Extensive curated tap beer list. read more

Food is delicious (especially the nachos) and the drinks are so good! We ate at the bar and the service was top notch. Love this place!

We liked the Queen Bee pizza, which we ordered with arugula and prosciutto. It was good. We made the mistake of ordering the $24 burrata salad. I'll remember it for a long time and not in a good way!. It had wilted iceberg lettuce doused with a sweet dressing - my daughter called it Wishbone salad dressing. Inexplicably it included tiny bits of watermelon, which were room temperature and melted into the sweet dressing. It was ridiculously bad. I remember these sorts of salads from my childhood but thought they were cancelled decades ago. The place was packed tonight after the University of Wisconsin's first football Game plus the city's largest outdoor festival. Service was fine, nothing special. I think this restaurant is best for beer and cocktails and maybe some fried appetizers or a pizza. Most people there seemed to be doing this. Skip the food. read more

I came here about two years ago for my birthday, which is in early December with some family and I had a blast. I loved the festive Christmas atmosphere and the specialty drinks were absolutely delicious! They even came in these cute Santa mugs. Unfortunately, it was a Saturday night and there was nowhere to sit, so I definitely would like to come back a bit earlier where I can check out the food and really soak in the ambience. read more

I wanted to give this place a 5 star rating so bad! However, there were a few things that just didn't hit for me. Since moving to Madison this past year, I've had Lucille on my bucket list of places to try. The location is prime time with awesome views of the capital building depending on where you're seated. To start, we had reservations and showed up a bit early so we decided to check out their underground cocktail lounge. This was surprisingly smaller than expected. I loved the concept but it was kind of ruined with the blaring hip hop music playing over the speaker. Now let's talk food. I think our eyes were bigger than our stomachs because we came in hot trying to order three empanadas, cheese curds, and a whole pizza for 2 people. Our waitress was super kind and let us know that the empanadas were on the bigger side so we opted for two instead. I'm not gonna lie the empanadas and curds came out extremely greasy. Everything was deep fried and obviously didn't get a much needed dry off after sitting in the oil. We loved the marinara that the curds came with. Out of the beef and chipotle chicken empanadas, we loved the chipotle chicken option! The empanada dipping sauce complimented that flavor nicely! The star of the show was our was our firewood pizza! We ordered The Queen style with added prosciutto and arugula. This was amazing! If you're looking for a quality pizza place and a little fine dining experience then definitely don't pass up Lucille. We will be returning to try some of their other firewood pizza options! read more
