They can also pre-order items from those lines. The Milk Talk body lotion smells like milkshakes. Expect to find really cute packaging but not a lot of English on the packaging. There are testers of most of the beauty products. The shop is tiny but crammed full of clothes, lingerie, stockings, shoes, scarves, purses, jewelry, iPhone accessories and makeup. My son was just going into high school -- all new friends to meet! Unfortunately, he was getting severe acne breakouts--not the best foot to put forward when meeting new people. His acne wasn't getting better with any of the over-the-counter treatments I'd encouraged him to use over the past 2 years, and now he was starting to lose faith in me. I knew other parents who'd gone the Accutane route which is pretty severe; I'd done Accutane in grad school myself and knowing the risks I wasn't interested in that path for my kid. A friend recommended Cheryl at Lucid Beauty and my son and I will be forever grateful! As far as I can tell, Lucid Beauty is not really marketed towards teens or teen acne, but our experience was fabulous! (I think this is an oversight in their marketing strategy) After an initial consultation (and relief to hear that his acne was not yet spreading to his shoulders or back), Cheryl sold me on a series of 6-sessions. The location is easy to get to on Hayes Street and my son felt comfortable getting himself there or home afterwards for his appointments. Hindsight being 20-20, I probably should have booked all the sessions at once based on his sports/school schedule because Cheryl's schedule can get busy and being a teenager he felt most comfortable sticking with one person. Cheryl is patient, warm, kind and knows how to talk to teenagers about their skin issues without making them feel self-conscious--a critical skill! Also, the staff didn't make a big deal about a gangly almost 6-foot teenager coming in. My son always felt comfortable there. I started the sessions in mid- to late summer and by the start of school there was a substantial improvement--both in his skin and in his confidence level. The only caution I'll provide is that the home treatment we purchased from there (face wash and cream) should be used only with color-safe or better yet white washcloths/towels/bed linens until your teenager figures out how to use the right amount and keep it on their face and not spewed all over the bathroom. I'd gone through a few weeks of trying to figure out why his bathmat or pillowcase had discoloration, so I'm passing on my wisdom! It's been several months now since finishing the 6-session series, and the home products we are now using regularly from there have maintained his skin in great condition -- as long as I keep reminding him that he needs to stick with it -- and he's a much happier teenager to live with! Like the MasterCard commercials say, this is PRICELESS! The best thing is that I got another adult to intervene in the constant battle of explaining to him how he needs to be disciplined in taking care of his skin. Understanding that now at such an early age (and learning that there's no silver bullet to "fix" your acne) it should prove beneficial to his long-term hygiene habits! Thanks so much Cheryl for your excellent work and advice! read more

Someone told me once, "Take care of your face. It's your face!" That has always resonated with me and once I hit my 40's bacame even more so. One can work out, do yoga, and even therapy, but for me, my ultimate self-care regimen is having a facial with Cheryl at Lucid beauty. Cheryl has had her business in Hayes valley over a decade long before Hayes Valley became such a hotbed. My first place in the city was Hayes and Octavia with the highway still present, Powell's Place, Zonal, and the original OxenRose. Change has happened but what's been a constant has been Cheryl's amazing facials. Her expertise, kind customer service, is an excellent value. My skin always glows, and she always sends me home with my maintenance regime (It's always prescribed for the season and state of my skin.) I leave it to her professional opinion to take care of my skin. I'm now pushing 50 and I know my skin, face, and overall well being is due in part to Cheryl's guidance and skill. Support a local business woman who is beyond knowledgeable and kind. She is an utter professional and cares for her clients' well being. Thank you Cheryl for taking care of me all these years. I had always been cautious about facials, I feel it would make my sensitive skin break out more. But more recently after a big move to SF my skin was in complete haywire and basically down to my last tear I decided to stop in and I couldn't have been happier. I was met by Michelle at the desk who first suggested out of everything to try the clove oil, which I did. Then I decided to buck up and try the organic acne facial (125$), I have to say my facial was great I had it with Elise the first time and she suggested diet changes and to be honest after a week free of dairy my skin turned around pretty intastnly so I went back and bought the blemish balm, and the mineral powder line True? , Since then I had no real major breakouts which is crazy since I felt like I was about to try accutane. I went back and had another acne facial with Catherine which was equally as amazing, my only issue left is some scarring after picking at my face for 6 horrible months of breakouts. Anyways, try this place out. They really know their stuff! Its a little steep as far as price for facials and products, but cook in a few nights a week and give it a shot! read more

So, I never write yelp reviews, but I had to create an account just to give a shout out as to how awesome this place is!! I've never had threading done before, had never even really heard about it until this place, but I went by this really cute spot and thought I'd give it a try. And let me say, Cheryl did an amazing amazing job. Not to mention she's a super sweet lady and she offered me 20% off a facial per the special she's having for this month. But that was only half of the awesomeness of this place. I had a hot date that night and saw that they did hair as well, so I figured why not get my hair done to match the threading job Cheryl did. Damian is FANTASTIC!! He's absolutely adorable and funny, and not to mention an AMAZING hair stylist. He gave me a cut that was flawless, and gave my straight, boring hair curls that were perfection. Ladies, if you want a confidence booster go see Damian he'll make you feel gorgeous. So I left this place feeling beautiful and confident, and had an amazing first date. I have had great experiences there with both Cheryl and Catherine - I was super surprised to read that someone felt Cheryl was unfriendly and uncomfortable with people of color (?!) Catherine does a close-to-painless brazilian and has a great bedside manor - I was surprised that someone could be really good at both facials (relaxing) and waxing (not so relaxing.) As for the high prices on the threading, I think maybe the reason that Cheryl may charge more is that she takes time to consult with you and shapes your brows the way YOU want them. I mean, you can go to the mall and let the kiosk ladies do what they think is best...good luck with that. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with lucid. Both ladies have lots of experience and really know what they're doing. read more

I have now been seeing Carol for just over a year and I can honestly say that my skin has never looked or felt better. Since I have been seeing Carol, following her recommendations and using the products, my skin has looked increasingly healthier. In searching for one close to where I live/work, Yelp led me to Carol Ruggieri's space at Crescent Moon Skincare. I placed a phone call, left a message and within a day or so got a call back from Carol inviting me to stop in for a chat/free consultation to talk about my concerns and to let me know what methods of treatments she offered. Carol is that friend who tells it like it is. No sugar coating, she's thorough and lays out everything on the table so there are no surprises. In a word, refreshing. Meeting her and putting my skin into her hands has been one of the best decisions I've made this year. My skin overhaul consisted of a specific regimen of products purchased through Carol (surprisingly inexpensive compared to the arsenal I currently owned), which I diligently used morning and night everyday. Then I'd return every two weeks for follow up skin assessments - involved a personalized facial and low level acid peels in my case - and each time my skin would get better and clearer. It only took two months to get my skin back on track. People look at me now and they don't believe I ever had skin issues. I'm writing this review and including before and after photos as a testament to Carol's magic and that I owe my newfound confidence to her. It made me a little sad during today's visit when Carol said I wouldn't need to see her as often anymore. That I could go for 8 weeks or beyond for a follow up. I'm still going to use the products she carries because they're amazing and I'm definitely going to refer everyone I know who are acne prone and needing some skin TLC to Carol. She is a lifesaver. I'm a fan and friend for life. Thank you Carol Ruggieri for making me feel beautiful again!

Sometimes I feel like just giving up and maintaining my own eyebrows. However, Maya did such a wonderful job on shaping my eyebrows. She is efficient and attentive as well; my first session with her took less than 30 minutes. She does a mix of waxing, threading, shaving, and plugging. Her initial session is more expensive but if you book your subsequent session within 8 weeks, you'll get a cheaper maintenance price. I'll be coming to her from now on!! She also does facial so maybe I'll try that out as well someday. The location is conveniently located downtown on the second floor in a building that has multiple stalls of cosmetologists - ranging from facial, hair, nail, etc. It is clean and easy to find.

The team worked efficiently, doing multiple services at once without making anything feel rushed. There were tons of nail color options, and they were super patient, even testing a few shades on my nail to make sure I liked the look. Everyone was professional and respectful-chatting quietly amongst themselves so I could relax and do my own thing. At one point, someone even helped me unbutton my pants so I could use the restroom without messing up my freshly painted nails! Great experience overall. The results were beautiful, and I'll definitely be back.

My usual spots were booked so I gave Neva's a try for a gel mani and pedi. The interior is very relaxing (despite being on Lombard!) and all of the employees were extremely kind. My gel mani and pedi were flawless. I also had my eyebrows waxed and they came out perfect. The real amazing thing about Nevas is that they offer lash services - while they do your nails! I can't wait to come back and take advantage of this.
