Extremely underwhelming results after a full year of monthly treatment. According to what I read online and was told in store, I am an ideal skin/hair type (light skin, dark coarse hair) but have noticed minimal change after 10 treatments and what was supposed to achieve a 95% decrease in facial hair growth. The sensation each treatment varied widely depending on the technician. One month it was what I expected - a sharp sensation like getting snapped with a rubber band. The next I barely felt it. I asked why, and if they had decreased the settings, but was told that as my follicles are weakened I will feel it less so this is an indication that the treatment is working. Cool, makes sense. It goes on like this for a while, but towards the end of the year I have another technician and that sharp sensation is back, much more like what I had experienced before. Was the bit about getting used to it BS? The fact that there's been no meaningful change in my hair growth would suggest that either the treatment was improperly administered, or otherwise unsuccessful. Either way, it is BY FAR the worst $2500 I've ever spent and I caution anyone considering laser to be very wary. Don't believe the 5 star reviews that are given as a result of bribes for deals - I am sure laser actually works for some people and there are real happy customers, but based on my experience discussing with others the success ratio is far lower than reviews or marketing suggests. read more

Avoid LaserAway -- seriously. I was pressured into buying a laser hair removal package by Sofia, my so-called "Patient Care Coordinator" (aka sales rep). She pushed hard to close the deal, and when I later tried to cancel -- before using any services -- she spoke to me like I was a child. She literally told me I was "immature" and said she was "embarrassed for me." They claim the contract is "medical" so it's non-refundable. It's a total trap. I've filed complaints with the BBB and CA Attorney General. If this happened to you, do the same. LaserAway cares more about locking you in than helping you out. read more

Several times they have had to cancel my appointments last minute or they change the times without telling you why. The manager Sam is not helpful and very bad at confirming dates. She told me the wrong dates when rescheduling and was very unapologetic about it. I'm trying to get my last facial refunded due to the poor service. DONT use the app to schedule anything. I had been neglecting my appearance for three years and decided it was time to shake off the pandemic malaise and treat myself to a little aesthetic self care. Glad I opted for a round of Xiamen, a Botox alternative, at the Castro location of LaserAway. The facility was clean and well maintained and the staff were all friendly and welcoming. Madhuri was my practitioner and she was very attentive to my needs and desired outcome - do you want a completely frozen face or more subtle? I went more subtle and I feel like I was in good hands as I love my wrinkle reduced results. Highly recommend for a post pandemic pick me up and just overall good vibes experience. read more

Two years ago, I did have a good experience with customer service and the treatments. I frequent this location for most of my treatments. I've purchased packages of 6 clear&brilliant, 6 potenza, and 8 laser hair removal treatments over the past two years. I don't see drastic results but I do see a difference. My main concern was acne and acne scars. After several sessions, I still visibly see the indents of my acne scars, but overall I think my skin has improved. I only purchased the c+b because I was told that was the best for acne scars but then after several treatments later I was told that c+b isn't that great for acne scars by another sales rep when potenza was available. That's when I purchased potenza because I wanted the acne scars to go away. It's hard to track pricing to see whether or not you've got a good deal because prices are not posted online and they always seem to have the 70% off sale. However, I felt like I was getting well taken care of so I was satisfied. What bothers me is that the overall experience has become less and less pleasant compared to the last. While it might be a minor thing for some people, I'm noticing that something is removed from the experience each time I go. My first few sessions the first year, the treatments were great. I would arrive and put on numbing cream. After 30 minutes of numbing, there are wet facial wipes available for removing the numbing cream and I go into the treatment room where the nurse wipes my face with an alcohol wipe once more before starting treatment. Sometimes, they helped me remove the numbing cream too. Then, they put the goggles over my eyes that was very cooling for the entirety of the treatment. It was a painful treatment but the nurses were really nice and asked if I needed a stress ball or portable fan and or talked to me which helped distract me from the pain. Afterwards, they would put on a face mask to help cool down your skin. They would sometimes ask about my skincare routine and offer tips. They would also automatically offer aloe and sunscreen. Fast forward two years, the face masks are gone, wet facial wipes are gone and replaced with these dry rough towels, they don't even make sure the numbing cream is fully removed before starting the treatment, no more cooling goggles, and it all feels super rushed to get out of there. Also, minor thing but now I have to ask for a fan or sunscreen if desired. If I don't ask, it's not offered. After purchasing multi-session packages, I just wished that the experience was consistent each time but unfortunately it is no longer the same. read more

This LaserAway offers a wide variety of services but I've personally only done the laser and botulinum toxin. The RNs are well trained and do a good job but the scheduling and systems at this business drive me absolutely crazy. I have bought a few packages throughout my time at LaserAway and without fail the person at the front desk loses count of my treatments. I 100% recommend you write down your purchased packages and keep track of it because their computer system must be incredibly complicated. I frequently correct them and then after a few minutes of hemming and hawing they look up and say ohhh yea, I see that here. They also frequently schedule me for a few things at once and about half the time I show up and they have the details of my visit incorrect. Occasionally that means I don't get the full treatment I booked that day. I also often have them call to cancel my botulinum toxin because the RN is taking the day off after I scheduled the appointment a month or so in advance. In summary, they do a good job on the treatments, if they schedule you correctly, remember what you've bought and don't cancel your appointment. read more

Just left the Castro location, embarrassed that I was going to give this place a chance. Full disclosure, I was five minutes late because I could not find parking anywhere. I called, they were super sweet about it. All good. Once they put me in the room I was supposed to wait for a nurse to call. 20 mins later I had to go to the front to see what was going on. No one came in to say they were running behind. Shortly after that they handed me a shattered ipad with a nurse on the line. 15 minutes after that I have to go out again to check because at this point I need to go pay my meter again. I have been going elsewhere for years and it has never taken this long. The nurse comes in and starts showing me pictures of the lines on my face and after each photo she points and asks "do you want to see these lines"... lol. Wtf? It felt like sleazy car sales vibes. Like preying on peoples insecurities to make more money. Obviously i'm here for my lines, but I explained that I do have a budget and what I would like done. She still proceeded to show me pics and ask "do you want to see these lines"... It put a really bad taste in my mouth. The whole experience felt tacky and bad. Then she left again and I sat there... waiting again. Finally I had to leave. Lo and behold I have a $107 parking ticket. Never again. I should have listened to my gut initially and left sooner. Judging by these reviews this is the norm here. Oh, and as I was leaving, one of the front desk girls smugly said "byee". I also suspect that these inexperienced nurses with poor bed side manner are over worked and under paid because this is a corporation (first mistake on my end) run with goal of turning and burning for profit, not quality. read more

Update: I see the business responded trying to seem like they care, I've corresponded with the customer service team which is what led to this review. No one else reached out since this review. Review: If you are okay with inexperience RN doing your Botox and a company that cannot be bothered with customer service when things go wrong, you found the right place! This review is for Botox. I've been getting Botox for 10+ years and have developed a very clear set of instructions to any new provider to avoid a botched Botox, 1. Don't change the shape of my eye brow, 2, don't drop my eye brow and 3. No uneven eye brow. I gave these specific instructions to the RN. 2 weeks later, my eye brows are flattened and dropped. Mistakes happen, it is the post botched Botox customer service that led to this review. At my 2 weeks follow up, both the sales person and the RN agreed they dropped my eye brow which made me look tired and angry. I also found out my Botox RN is relatively inexperienced. From 10+ years of Botox, I know there is nothing they can do to lift the middle of my brow. The Castro location tells me there is nothing they can do, all they can do is referred me to their corporate client service person, after 2 weeks of getting the run around and explaining to various people via text and e-mail, all I get back is boilerplate answers deflecting responsibility. I pay $500+ for millimeters of improvement and instead of improvement, now I look tired and angry for the next 4 months and LaserAway couldn't be bothered to provide any answer/apology beyond some lawyerly deflection of their mistake. This review is about the customer service and refund processes and echos similar reviews here and elsewhere online. I purchase 2 packages recently and called back within 24 hours for a refund. I was told I had to speak to a manager who would call me in 1-3 business days. I called twice a day for 6 business days and couldn't get ahold of anyone who was willing to help me. I finally spoke with someone at this location, who processed a refund for 1 package (but not the other? even though she told me she'd take care of both). That refund has been showing as pending on my Cc for over a week, today when I checked, the refund disappeared (ie. they never processed it --sneaky, right?). To pile on, 1 of the packages was double charged, and still no one has called to get that sorted out. So, I have $7,000 worth of charges on my credit card, which no one from this company seems to be calling me back about, and ~2k of that is a double charge error; talk about incredibly scammy business practices! With limited options left, I've reported this as a dispute on my Cc, and am reporting laseraway to as many fraud websites as I can. This really is an unacceptable way to provide customer support and retain long term customers. Do better. read more

Careful with the packages! Laseraway will NOT let you cancel nor refund you for a package if you are medically unable to use it for years-- no matter what. I purchased my package in 2023, used a few sessions, and then got pregnant with my third and final planned child. Thought I'd pause for a year, no big deal. However, my daughter died unexpectedly at full term. I therefore have been trying to conceive and ultimately won't be medically eligible to use my package until at least late 2026- we're talking 2.5+ years of not being able to use my services. I requested that I pay for the sessions I used and to end my package/stop paying/be refunded for the other sessions. nope! Absolutely not. No exceptions.  Even the head of client services contacted me- they doubled down-- absolutely will not make an exception even in the death of my child and therefore me being unable to use the package for years. They even reiterated that if only she had died within a year of my package the situation would be different. Don't purchase packages with laseraway!! Do single sessions-- or consider going to places that don't heavily pedal packages in the first place! It's clear they push them so they can keep people's money no matter what. Life happens, but laseraway doesn't care. I've filed a report with BBB and the CA attorney general. They claim their contracts are medical as seen below, but then when medical needs arise they say there are no exceptions. Scam all around. Also-- if you've seen this review before, it's because it was removed because I posted it both both SF locations. Pretty wild since this review is for the NATIONAL laseraway stance-- but this is my laseraway location, and they also don't seem to care much since they haven't contacted me directly about it either. Lastly, laseraway will respond to this post saying they want to contact me to make it right, but then someone will just make me lay all my trauma out to them for them to say "no exceptions". I can't speak to the quality of service and treatments, since I didn't actually get that far, but found their business practices completely frustrating. I happened to notice that LaserAway was heavily promoting its "Bootox" sale with up to 70% off laser hair removal. I clicked through from Yelp to get more info but the only way to proceed was to set up a phone or Zoom consultation, prices weren't published anywhere. That was kind of annoying but, fair enough, I went ahead and had the call. For a very small treatment area I was quoted $119 per session for a 10 pack, or $199 per session for a 3 pack. If this is a 70% off deal, does that mean the regular price is $400 per session?! For comparison my current provider charges $65 for a related but larger treatment area. The person I spoke with mentioned something about LaserAway's lasers being "stronger" that other providers, without any further explanation or evidence, but I'd prefer to know what type of machines they use and do my own research on that. Overall a very bizarre experience. I'd potentially have been interested in exploring other treatments with them but it's so difficult to get any information up front that it's just not worth the effort. First I want to say Dana, who helped me decide on treatment and scheduling me was amazing. However some pretty sketchy business occurred at the actual facility. They called me the day before saying the nurse couldn't do filler at that time any more and wanted to reschedule but could still do Botox. I said ok but that I would reschedule both so I didn't have to make two separate trips. Then suddenly it was fine and the nurse could do it. I come in that day, the nurse is very nice. I ask about dysport instead of Botox because it's faster acting. She says no problem and that I would end up saving $200. She then keeps complimenting my lips and tells me she doesn't think I need filler.. nice enough but kinda strange considering the call the previous day. But I let it go. Then I go online to see that my $200 credit is returned, and the nurse listed I got Botox not the dysport. I call and all they can tell me is the inventory is correct and that I was given Botox. I did laser hair removal and I've been left with burn marks all over the bikini line. After one week they are still there, and they gave me some Vaseline saying the marks can last for weeks. I will need to cover myself at the pool or beach to avoid permanent hyperpigmentation. What a nightmare. And still, not sure I will have my skin all healed any time soon, or ever. Update: I talked with a dermatologist and he told me I have a post-infiammatory hyperpigmentation that will need months to fade MAYBE - or maybe never. TL;DR: They bait and switch you on the deal. They sign you up for another deal they won't honor. They constantly tell you the next price will be cheaper than it is. And they won't even back up their own work when they haven't hit their 70% removal rate. Stay as far away as you can, and go to a local business/hair removal salon if at all possible. --- Although the staff are usually friendly, LaserAway is pretty scammy. To start off, when I first contacted them last year, the sales rep (Jessica) was extremely aggressive and pushy. She directly contradicted information on the website and essentially yelled at me over the phone when I didn't immediately agree to sign up. My second gripe is they did not honor my groupon. It was supposed to be valid for 3 sessions on a large area, paying just $285 (valued at $1,197). Unfortunately they only gave me $100 off. Clearly not what was stated on the Groupon. Even after pointing this out the rep would not budge. Third, they lack organization. On my first session, they asked if I was ready to begin lip treatment, which is not at all what I signed up for. Then, immediately after clarifying that I was there for my first brazilian session, the nurse asked me how treatments had been going. I _just_ said it was my first session. This person is supposed to be qualified to operate a laser on me ... Fourth, I was supposed to be signed up for a package (brazilian and underarms, paid together). When it came time to begin underarm treatments, I was told I would have to pay for the sessions, since I didn't have a package. I was sure this wasn't right. I called and had someone check over the phone, who assured me that if I went in for my next session, the person on-site would see the package in my account and start the underarm treatment then. Of course, the next session comes around, desk person can't find any record of the package I signed up for. Fifth, I did not get 70% or more reduction in hair growth (what they considered to be a successful treatment). When you sign up, they make it clear that any subsequent treatments would be free until you hit 70% reduction. It's a lie. They do not take any before/after photos or any benchmarking whatsoever to verify what % of hair has been removed from your body. If you want evidence of this to support yourself, make sure you take your own before and after photos, or you will be SOL. Sixth, somehow, I still want to do a few more sessions so I can actually get the hair removal I was seeking. They quoted me over $250 per session, and their upsell tactics were criminal given what I had experienced so far. The person who was trying to get me to buy maintenance gave me 3 or 4 different prices when I repeatedly said the cost was too high. I then explained everything I wrote in this review so far. She offered a low price because she felt bad about the underarms and said she would "clear it with regional manager" and call me, but I could schedule my next session in the meantime. The session appointment came, and no one ever called me, so I canceled the appointment. Given how much money I have already paid this place, their failure to stick to their groupon deals, their failure to honor a package I bought, their disorganization, and the fact this entire company is overall a sketchfest upsell bonanza, I would advise you to look elsewhere for services. read more

Posted 2/23/24: Terrible service and sales tactics. Was roped into buying chin and lip because they said I couldn't just do chin. Be careful they'll try to rope you into paying more for services. Be super clear and up front about what areas they will be lasering because I went to my 1st visit and chin was not what I expected. I called the branch to discuss the confusion about what they considered to be the chin area and they said I had to buy a jawline package. I asked them to switch my package for the remainder of the sessions and they said they couldn't do anything. That they had to call corporate and that I'd get a call within 48 hours. No response yet. It has been over a month. I reached out several times via the customer service portal and no response. Finally resorted to disputing with my credit card and they'll still giving me the runaround. I still don't have a penny refunded of the 10 session package. I'll never try this place again. Queer-friendly safe space. I'm a chubby (considered obese by medical standards) PoC and felt super welcomed, even though I look nothing like the models in the poster. You don't have to be skinny or posh to utilize their services. Nurse Elaine was personable as well as the check-in staff and everyone made me feel super comfortable! Tips for laser hair pain, which honestly is tolerable especially if you've gotten a Brazilian wax before, it is a little better than that. (I'm just a wuss.) - Tylenol & Tums 30min before appt - avoid caffeine and alcohol - shave as close as possible (any stray hairs singe and burn more) - don't forget to breathe! Focusing on breath when it hurts is way more helpful than holding it in! I like disassociating into the ceiling more than shutting my eyes tight also lol read more

Out of 6 sessions so far, they messed up 2 and asked to reschedule because their technician was "under the weather" and it didn't have anything to do with my appointments being on Sundays. If you can't honor appointments on weekends, don't take appointments on weekends. Simple. And then the next appointment is months away.
